REFLECTION

My insights to the topics that we have discussed are that there are many types of test that we could use in making examinations. Example of this is Definition the act or process of defining what a word or expression means, you will be given a name or thought or anything and you have to define it, and sometimes you are required to explain what is it all about. Another, I learned that in making Assessment you should be observant to the students work so that you will know if the students are making their task right. It is can also be in the process of reporting wherein you will know if the students have understood further the topic that you assigned. I learned also that in making assessments you should measure the qualitative characteristics of the students for you to know the capacity of your learners. There are two types of measurement; first is the objective measurement, it is more stable than subjective measurement in the sense that repeated measurement of the same quantity or quality of interest will produce more or less the same questions. Second is the subjective measurement, it is only used for only a certain quantity or quality. There are 4 roles of assessment which are the summative which was conducted after or at the end of a term or a unit, the formative which is an ongoing process, this is usually used during the discussion or the lesson proper, it is also the most important assessment because it monitors the teaching learning progress of teachers and the students, the diagnostic n this assessment the teacher fills the gap of the difficulties of the learners, and lastly is the placement, the teacher assessing the students so that he would know if where the student should place, it usually conducted as an entry performance, example of this are the entrance examinations. By this roles and basic concepts of assessment I already know how to conduct assessments and tests.

ASSIGNMENT

Were the differences in the English scores of male and female attribute to differences in mental abilities? To which would you attribute these differences. If you were Ms. Castillo, what would you do?

I think NO, because if the male students are not always absent maybe they could cope to their lesson and they will not get low grades. If I were Ms. Castillo I will encourage my students especially those who are fun of being absent in my class that they should not be absent because they will only get low grades if they will, and they will learn nothing. I will also do some strategies that will make interested to enter my class.
