CLIENTS REQUIRMENTS

 A circulated hot water system running from the mains gas supply

 The system should be able to supply domestic hot water at all times

 Rooms are to be temperature controlled individually by means of

thermostatic radiator valves

 System design to conform to British Standard BS 5449:1990 and be

calculated by ourselves

S U G G E S T E D S O LU T I O N

 Installation of an appropriate combination boiler (specification to

follow)

 Appropriately sized panel radiators with adequate thermal output

and exposed pipe work. Please note that radiators will be referred
to as emitters.

 Pipe work will be exposed 15mm copper to keep costs as low as

possible.

 Heated towel rail to be installed in bathroom for improved

utilisation of space.

 Box requirements considered negligible and therefore no emitter to

be installed.

 Kitchen determined to provide sufficient heat and therefore only

boiler to be installed in this room.

These values merely indicate the values required for each individual emitter.
Overall boiler capacity required is further to these requirements due to
domestic hot water requirements. All values were calculated using minimum
temperature values provided by BS 5449:1990

Due to various heat sources already present in the kitchen an emitter will not
be installed. It was also not deemed necessary to install a heater into the
box room.

Calculated output requirement for system, taking into account building

materials, domestic water needs and all temperature requirements was
12kW. Boilers of this size are however uncommon so the most appropriate
system was selected.
