Introduction to the specific area of the topic


Many organizations do invest precious resources on training and development but without examining how training interventions could effectively contribute in the achievement of organizational objectives, eventually resources are wasted. To yield desired level of performance, it is an imperative that organizations effectively plan, implement and evaluate their training interventions. An organization either Business or Industrial Enterprises, needs many factors for its growth, further development and for its very survival. The most important factors are Capital, Materials, Machineries and Human Resources as the success or failure of any organization depends on the effective combination of these factors. Managing all other factors are comparatively easier than managing Human Resources. The Human Resources are most important and need to be handled carefully. Since all the others factors are handled by the human resources, they have to be trained in a effective manner to utilize the resources at optimal level to get the desired output and thereby to reach the organization goals. The effective combination of all these factors results to way for success. Training is defined as learning that is provided in order to improve performance on the present job. A person's performance is improved by showing her how to master a new or established technology. The technology may be a piece of heavy machinery, a computer, a procedure for creating a product, or a method of providing a service.

About CIGFIL LTD.


CIGFIL, a fast growing industrial Group, located in Bangalore, India, first started its flagship Division Cigarette Filter manufacturing - in the year 1970. With its constant diversification into Polymer, Packaging, Apparels, Food Processing, Personal Care Products and Logistics, the Group today hires around 5,700 dedicated and well experienced employees. Cigfil Polymer Division was started targeting the ever growing market applications of Polymer Bags and Fabrics, mainly to cater to the requirements of chemicals, agricultural, textile, animal feeds and pharmaceutical businesses. With global response for its products very encouraging, Cigfil is in the process of continuous expansion and modernisation of its manufacturing facilities, more than 90% of Cigfils Polypropylene bags and fabrics are exported to countries like USA, UK, Europe, Middle East and Africa.

Statement of the Problem.


The study intends intends to explore whether the training programmes are effective and updated to reach all types of employees and situations. Need for the study. Training and Development is a concept which is as important as recruitment and selection. Providing training to the employee always enables the employee to work better in an organization there by increasing the productivity. Training and development as a whole is very essential for any organisation. Objectives of the study. To study the current Training and Development practices at CIGFIL LTD. POLYMER DIVISION.

To ascertain the influence of Training and Development programmes on the employees. To analyze the impact of Training on the productivity of employees. To check the extent of motivation on the employees through the training programmes offered.

Scope of the study.


Training and development being the most vital tool of HRD activity naturally forms the major part of all HRD activities. The efficiency of an organization depends directly on how well its members are trained. Effective managers recognized training as an ongoing process. The present study attempts an in depth study on training and its effectiveness in CIGFIL LTD. The study is conducted for all the levels of employees in the company. Research Methodology

Descriptive research. To portray accurately the characteristics of a particular individual, situation or a group .

Sample Design
No. of samples=250 Sample random sampling: This design involves the use of lottery system or the random tables for the selection of the sample. Random sampling ensures the law of statistical regulatory i.e., the sample has the same composition and characteristics as a the universe.

Sources of Data.
Primary source- Structured Questionaires Secondary source- Human Resource Management- V.S.P.Rao Human Resource Selection- Gatewood Field Barrick.

Techniques for Data collection


The primary source of data will be collected through structured questionnaire from the employees of the company.

Plan of Analysis
The primary source of data obtained through questionnaire will be analyzed. This data collected will be analysed using statistical tools and will also be presented through graphical method (Bar chart/ Pie chart) wherever necessary. The obtained result will be used to analyze our stated objectives and analyze.

Limitations of the study.


This study is a periodical study conducted for a stipulated period. The result obtained through this study is only with respect to CIGFIL LTD. Time constraint There lies an object of subjectivity, as many of the employees might provide false information.
