Introduction
The Apple iPad gets a competition from Samsung Galaxy Tab GT-P1000 Tablet PC - for a fair price of 499 EUR with 16 GB of internal memory and a memory expansion capability up to 32 GB (microSD card). But the buyer will receive a state-of Android 2.2 operating system, 1 GHz processor and 512 MB of memory-equipped device in "chic-white" color, with speaker phone and headset that also brings useful phone function, unlike the one by Apple iPad. SMS can be also written comfortably with the samsung Galaxy Tablet. 3. Housing dimensions - With a weight of 380 grams, it is difficult to be compared as a Smartphone for a Tablet PC but is very handy and has ergonomic design. 4. Quality (sharpness / resolution) of the display - 7.0 inch TFT display technology with 16 million colors and a resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels. Color-Correct, excellent presentation, barely visible pixels. The black level is not the best yet so far. 5. Implementation of the folding or sliding mechanism - NA. 6. Quality of the battery compartment cover - NA. 7. Quality and scope of the supplied items - USB cable, user manual, headset, charger, 16 GB Micro SD Card with Adapter. 8. Processing Result - The Samsung Galaxy Tab GT-P1000 is very clean and is processed in view of its determination with some 380 grams and does not get too heavy and compact. However, there are already much larger than conventional phones in reality. The display is very good, but here is little room to grow. 11. Internet functionality - Complexd design illustrated web-pages from the Galaxy Tab are clearly visible. The loading of each page takes very little time. There are additional zoom functions through which it is easy to read pages. Whether in portrait or landscape mode, the user will have his delight while surfing the net. Favorites are also stored quickly and are easily available. 12. PC Synchronisation - The Galaxy Tab is detected immediately after connecting to the PC, using the USB cable. The software Samsung gravel has yet to be loaded first. This will take some time. Since this is an Android model, especially the synchronization with Google (calendar, contacts - if any) is done error-free. Once you have made a Google account, within no time at all, contacts are immediately stored in the Galaxy tab. Too bad if you want to synchronize its entire Outlook data including calendar. Those who want to quickly copy pictures and videos can configure the tab as a mass storage device. Data exchange of different media files are done very speedily. 13. Only when it is dark and the daylight decreases, the cam has limitations. Objects are barely recognizable, the rush to gain the upper hand and colors are attenuated. 5. If you use the EQ and turn the effects settings to "off", you can use the very successful 5.1 Simulation that provides a truly stunning surround sound. With great dynamism, strong but not too dominant and flawless bass with low noise is observed. 7. Radio yes / no, sound quality of Radio - On the Android Market Place there are similar applications, "standard" radio apps is not installed.

As with all Android-based smartphones / Tablet PCs, a Google account can be set up to even use your own contact information. 3. Adding / Creating / editing contacts - Contacts can be edited, created or added easily. 4. Readability of the display - On the day and at night, users can easily read from the display. In direct sunlight or exposure to light, there seems to be little restrictions on the readability that can be tolerated, as well noted on most other mobile phones. There is also strong reflections of the display because of the glossy display surface. 5. Pressure point of the keypad / reaction of the touch screen - The response of the touchscreen runs smoothly and precisely. 6. Handling the navigation elements to prospect the menus - Na. 7. Clarity of the menu - Quite a lot of menu items, which appear clearly but only after a period of acclimatization. For experienced users, this is however not a problem. 8. Scope of the menus - Many Newcomers will first have to find their way around - after a few days of use everything will be back to normal and quite suited. 9. The design of the menus - Beautiful graphic design with easily identifiable menu icons that are big enough to be targeted for selection with a tap. 10. Overall Conclusion
The Samsung Galaxy tab is currently without a doubt one of the best Tablet PCs, which are available on the market. The built-in telephone function and the good camera, which is interesting and outstanding especially in video mode delivers great results. The Android 2.2 device (Samsung promises later, to implement future versions of Android) for the tablet is rather compact and not too heavy. The display is very good, only the black level is not perfect. With the combination of fast processor and sufficient memory, the tablet runs at greater speed without any time delays. The flexibility of playing back media data is high, the acoustic qualities are also well above the average. Only when using the phone function, the sonic benefits are not very exciting. Whether through speakers or headset, the voice always sounds tinny and shallow. The workmanship is very clean, the price is fair for bids.

If you want to give it a try then you can download Skype from the official site www.skype.com of if you want you can get the same downloaded from Android market. Not lot of success has been reported I have seen some of the users can make call but the video feature is lacking at the moment.

Many are saying that it is not recommended to install skype on a 2.1 Android OS. But few people who were able to install on 2.2 froyo version were not able to video call, it was giving them some error. Also most of the users are not able to find Skype in the Android Marketplace. I guess we will have to wait till Skype is officially launched at its market place.

Skype is available for the Galaxy tab, i have it, and now there is support for video call but only for the rear facing camera.
