Cremica company with an annual sales figure of Rs. 400 Crores, growing at the rate of 30 per cent per annum. Mrs Bector said, I started the business as a hobby and sold kitchen-made ice creams at a very small scale. My hobby converted in a profession when I saw the liking of my ice creams at a stall I had put for a Diwali Melas in the late 1970s.Although I had no formal training, the recipes were a runaway success. In 1982, with a small investment of 300/-, a small unit was set up at home. The total food production in India is likely to double in the next ten years and there is an opportunity for large investments in food and food processing technologies, skills and equipment, especially in areas of Canning, Dairy and Food Processing, Specialty Processing, Packaging, Frozen Food/Refrigeration and Thermo Processing.
