Memorial Rugby Harlequins Rugby Football Club on the Bluff will host its annual Ronnie van Rooyen Memorial Rugby festival on March 23 & 24 at the club. The club invites all friends and families of the participation clubs to join then in this fun filled day with some great rugby on display. Only Bluff people can invent a new way to exercise (Raymond Azor reports) Exercise while having fun took on a new meaning this past Saturday 3rd march when the first ever Bluff Pub Walk was enjoyed by 9 enthusiastic and dedicated walkers. The idea behind the walk was to get people off their couches by enjoying themselves while having a great time socialising. Thus the scene was set when 9 friends gathered at Fynnlands Soccer Club to start the pub walk at 10am and had their first beer. We then made our way to the Green Dolphin for our second drink and appreciated the picturesque walk to Bucaneers for the third. There was a lot of panting and sore calves as we made our way up the beach path to Bongos for the forth watering hole. By this time everybody was in full swing of things and a fantastic time was being had by all! Harlequins Rugby Club was the fifth point of call and then the thirsty walkers did not have to walk too far as we strode across the field to the Golf Club for yet another beer and a sneaky blue shot that tasted just like bubblegum. Songs were being sung with great gust as the team made their way to Formula 1 Bar for the seventh pit stop. Again the thirsty walkers did not have to wait too long as we went around the bend to Hot Shots and enjoyed the cool aircon at the eighth bar. The home stretch was in sight and people were feeling very merry as we approached the old Moth Club to drink a salute to our fallen comrades of the past. The tenth and final stop at the Bluff Bowling Club had all in great spirits as we knew it was just a short walk through the park to the place where it all began, 5 hours earlier, Fynnlands Soccer Club. The short walk turned out to be the most enjoyable as friends with sore muscles, blistered feet and tired legs, high fived each other for competing what we all felt was something special. The experience will last with us all for a lifetime and somehow everybody felt a little closer to their team mates for accomplishing a top day out with lots of laughter and joy. We want other people to experience the walk as we did and want to have the next one on a much bigger scale. The idea is to get people excerising while socialising and having a good time. We want to get the whole Bluff Community involved in this walk by organising a spectacular event with big sponsors and corporate backing. Please look out for future details on the next big Bluff Pub Walk, so that you can book your spot in the walk of fame.......
