break points and solid control of the boards led by Megan Spence (12) and Neva Hauser (12), LC was able to build a comfortable lead. We ran a completely different defensive game-plan the first half than whats normal for us. We changed from a 2-3 to a 1-3-1 zone, which worked well, said Fulks. In their league in Texas, they see a 2-3 every night, so we decided to change it up. With help from five LC turnovers in 1:32 to begin the second half, Concordia was able to cut the lead to 10 in their full-court press. It would come no closer the rest of the way as LC cruised to their largest point total (83) since 2007, when they scored 91 points in a non-league win over Menlo. Their zone let us cut some seams and we had some different looks. When you have good shooters and they knock shots down, it makes it easier on all of us, said Fulks. Sara Villanueva (13), a second-team all NWC member, knocked down 18 points to go along with a team high, tying Katie Anderson (14) and Hauser with four assists. Spence had a game high nine rebounds. We played really well as a team, and a bunch of people were hitting big shots. It was an all-around great win for us, said Williams.

The Lewis & Clark womens basketball team earned its first ever NCAA tournament win on March 2, defeating Concordia (Texas) 83-65 at George Fox. Kristina Williams (13) led the way with a career-high 33 points, scoring 18 in the first half. Williams, a first-team all NWC member, was 10-14 from the floor, two for three from long range and a perfect 11-11 from the free throw line in 32 minutes of play, to go along with five rebounds and three assists. I thought she saw the floor well and took advantage of opportunities, said Head Coach Juli Fulks. I still missed a few shots, said Williams. But Id say it is probably one of my top five games here at LC. I dont know, some nights youre feeling it and tonight it felt like everything I was throwing up was going in, so I just went with that. Concordia came out strong, leading by two points with 8:37 left in the first half, but the lead was short lived. LC outscored Concordia 25-7 to end the half, pushing the lead to 42-26. The Lewis & Clark softball team suffered another disappointing set of losses against the Linfield Wildcats this past Saturday. The defending all-state champs took the conference double-header 8-0 in the first game and 11-0 in the second game. This game marked the eighth loss in the season for the Pioneers. We knew it would be a tough game, said second baseman Caitlin Basilio (14). Linfield is one of the best teams in the state, but we tried to come out strong. The Wildcats hit four homeruns in the first game and three in the final game. The day ended with the Pioneers collecting only three hits in the first game and one hit in the final game. Caroline DeVincenzi (12), Jetaime Mullins (13) and Megan Andre (13) each earned a hit in the first game, with Maddie Lee (15) earning the only hit of the last game. Both games were five innings. In the first game we did a good job holding them under and we didnt make any mistakes, said Softball Head Coach Shawna Feldt. Linfield is a team with a winning tra-

dition, it really could have been worse. The Pios also had three errors in the second game, which many team members believe led to a quicker demise. We need to improve on not letting errors affect the rest of our game, said Basilio. When we make an error it can ruin our confidence sometimes. The team and its coaching staff agree that lack of confidence is a huge factor in the softball teams losing streak. The biggest thing the team needs to work on is confidence, said Feldt. Were losing games that we shouldnt be losing. And were really working on trying to control our own game and not be afraid to fail. The Pios will meet the Wildcats for their final double-header of the season in McMinnville March 18. The team also fell to to the Willamette Bearcats on Sunday 3-1 in game one and 11-0 in game two. The Pios fall to 0-10 overall and 0-8 in the Northwest Conference. LC plays its next set of conference games against George Fox University at home on March 9 and 10 at home. Games begin at 12 p.m. on both days.
