Engage students with Title of technology Unit Curriculum Professional Development Area Content Standards: Standard: ISTE/NETS for teachers (International Society for Teachers in Education) 2. Design and Develop Digital Age Learning Experiences and Assessments Teachers design, develop, and evaluate authentic learning experiences and assessment incorporating contemporary tools and resources to maximize content learning in context and to develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes identified in the NETSS(NETS for students). a. Design or adapt relevant learning experiences that incorporate digital tools and resources to promote student learning and creativity b. Develop technology-enriched learning environments that enable all students to pursue their individual curiosities and become active participants in setting their own educational goals, managing their own learning, and assessing their own progress 3. Model Digital Age Work and Learning Teachers exhibit knowledge, skills, and work processes representative of an innovative professional in a global and digital society. a. Demonstrate fluency in technology systems and the transfer of current knowledge to new technologies and situations

Understandings
Teachers will understand that: Teaching with technology engages students. Educators are to be fluent with technology systems so they can serve as role models and leaders for our 21st Century Learners. It is educators responsibility to design and develop digital age experiences and assessments. Related Misconceptions: -Simply playing videos or using a LCD projector is not enough to say that students are engaged with technology. -Too time consuming

Essential Questions
Overarching Questions: How can I engage students through the use of effective technology? How can I incorporate digital tools and resources to promote student learning? Topical Questions: What is Mimio interactive teaching technologies? How do I access and use the mimio products that are available to me? How can I share ideas with other teachers about mimio interactives?

Knowledge and Skills Knowledge


Teachers will know: -the basic capabilities of mimio teach, view, vote, and pad -the basic capabilities of mimio notebook and mimio gradebook -the components of an effective lesson plan using mimio interactive

Skills
Teachers will be able to: -Navigate, locate and search for resources on mimio connect -use mimio teach, view, vote, and pad -access mimio notebook, gradebook -give feedback and share ideas via web 2.0 tool (wiki, wallwisher)

-Model an interactive lesson with mimio products -Demonstrate how to access mimio gradebook, mimio notebook, and mimio view. (Equip) R Questions/comments from participants. Use of wallwisher.com to bulletin board their ideas on ways to use mimio interactives. Send link to participants. (Revise&Rethink) E Send wiki link so participants can post comments and ask additional questions. On this site they can answer some questions to evaluate the lesson. In addition, send participants a link to online course created by the presenter. A resource packet of the lesson will be emailed to all participants as well. (Evaluate) T Allow time for participants to come up and try the equipment for themselves with hands-on questions after the meeting. Reminder for them to go online to wiki page to answer questions and most importantly if they have additional questions later. (Tailored) OOrganized in the sequence listed above. (Organized)
