Current Parking Situation


Staff parking:
$81 a month, $14 a month for weekend use Free carpool and shuttle 1,709 total staff parking spaces Average of 1,421 staff per day Bachman lot reaches capacity nine hours a week on average; Arbor lot twice a month

Patient parking:
$2 an hour, $8 for entire day 337 total visitor parking spaces Average of 277 patients per day Ace lot operated by the Unitarian Church 43 handicapped spaces; however, they can park anywhere

Problem areas on Dickinson Street and Albatross Drive Lack of Handicapped parking? Valet service operating at a loss due to offering of free parking for handicapped patients Abuse of handicapped placards? 26 infractions in three month period

Parking Solutions
DMV enforcement of handicapped placards in November (2 Days) 2 Citations Issued, 2 Placards Confiscated Several municipal parking violations for cars parked in A spots with no A pass or handicapped placard Recent acquisition of property north of Montecito to be developed for patient parking approximately 100 spaces Adds 100+ spaces, including several handicapped spots Scheduled to open by end of 2012 Extend A pass in residential areas through Saturday? Change 2 hour parking on Dickinson to 1 hour parking? Work with City to add new handicapped spaces?
