My Favorite Case
Theres one thing weve learned in the 121 years weve been making knives. Its about a lot more than the knives. How to Identify an Authentic Case Knife Anatomy of a Case Knife

Hand-crafting a Case knife is an exercise in skill, love and, most importantly, patience. Roughly 160 steps go into the creation of each individual knife, from the handle to the blade to everything in between. To us, the process is just as important as using the finest components in the world, like rich, natural handle materials, premium-quality steel, select brass and superior nickel silver.
AUTHENTIC CASE COLLECTABLES We put the Long Tail C only on a serial-numbered, collectable product manufactured and sold by Case. This logo assures you the collectable item is authorized by Case. DETERMINE THE YEAR OF A CASE KNIFE By learning the simple Case Dating System, you can easily determine the year a Case knife was manufactured.

IDENTIFY CASE KNIFE PATTERNS The number stamped on the tang of one blade of every Case knife identifies the pattern. The first number is the handle material, the second number is the number of blades, and the third is the factory pattern number.

In this example, 6347 is a #47 factory pattern knife with a jigged bone handle and three blades. In 1970, Case added ten dots beneath the U.S.A. on all knife tangs. Each year a dot was removed. The same dating system was used during the 1980s. The differences are the lightning form of the s in Case and USA and the fact that the dots were put above the USA. From 1990 to mid-1993, the actual date was stamped on the tang.

In 2000, Case introduced a new tang date stamp: five Xs and five dots. From 2001 through 2005, one dot is removed each year. From 2006 through 2009, an X is removed each year. The 2010 Tang Stamp Design again features five Xs and five dots. From 2011 through 2015, one dot is removed for each year. From 2016 through 2019, an X is removed each year.

We were schoolteachers and when we retired in 1998, we quickly realized we better come up with a hobby we both liked so we wouldnt drive each other crazy. Cases new magnetic display panels are a great alternative to traditional vacuum form and wired-on displays. You choose the knives that go in themand change them out as often as you wish! Panels available in tan, red or black to fit any of our displays. A 30-piece magnet kit secures 10 knives, enough for any of our half-panel assortments. for a floor display, order 5 kits. Graphic stickers are also available to dress up the look of your display, and help those Case knives fly off the shelf. Some knife assortments are still being offered in the traditional vacuum form panel, and they are noted in the panel listing. if you want to order one of these assortments and substitute the magnetic panel, just add the magnetic panel that fits your display to the order. for any questions, please check with the Case national Sales office.

imPriNtiNG PoliCiEs minimum order requirements for imprinting: Twenty-five (25) units per item. sample Policy: Random samples are available for purchase upon request. Preproduction samples for approval are available upon request and will be considered part of the order. There will be an additional art charge for any change in artwork after a pre-production sample is produced. Cancellation Charges: orders cancelled during production will be charged for work completed at the time of cancellation. (including artwork/setup fees.) returns: All merchandise is sold on a final sales basis. if products are being considered on programs requiring a return privilege, a specific written agreement must be obtained from Case Cutlery. no returns possible on imprinted items.
