Oceana Bill
Summary/Abstract
The purpose of this bill is to define the parameters of a defence force for Oceana which can credibly defend the interests of the nation and undertake the missions required of it by the national Government. To that end it proposed that three separate branches of the Oceana Defence Force (ODF) under the auspices of the Oceana Ministry of Defence (OMOD) shall be created, namely the Republic of Oceana Navy (RON), the Republic of Oceana Air Force (ROAF) and the Oceana Army (OA).
Section 3 The RON shall consist of the surface fleet, submarine fleet, Republic of Oceana Marines (ROM), the Fleet Air Arm of Oceana (FAAO) and the Republic of Ocean Fleet Auxiliary (ROFA). Section 4 The Prime Minister shall be the First Lord of the Admiralty and the Secretary of State for Defence shall be the First Sea Lord in order to ensure, symbolically and practically, civilian control over the service. Section 5 The Republic of Oceana Navy shall consist of the following elements and units: Surface fleet a. Two through deck cruisers b. Five air defence and detection destroyers c. Eight anti-submarine, general purpose and surveillance frigates d. Six corvettes e. Six mine hunting and patrol vessels Submarine fleet a. Five fleet submarines Fleet Auxiliary a. Three humanitarian assistance and transport vessels (50% of cost paid by overseas aid budget) b. Three stores vessels c. Three fuel vessels d. One hospital ship e. One training vessel Fleet Air Arm a. Twenty four reconnaissance and force projection jets b. Twenty four maritime surveillance helicopters c. Sixteen basic trainer aircraft d. Twelve advanced trainer aircraft e. Three airborne early warning and control aircraft Republic of Oceana Marines a. Two commando battalions b. One artillery battalion c. One logistic and headquarters battalion
