Instructions on how to make a booking are listed below. Please note: school will finish at the earlier time of 2.50pm on both of these days to allow teachers some preparation time. Buses will run at the usual times.

School Fees: A reminder that if school fees are


paid in full by 31.03.12 a $15 discount can be applied reducing the amount to $100. These payments cover the materials and take-home component of Technology Projects throughout the year. They also provide educational, cultural, sporting and social activities that are not covered by the Ministry. All families are urged to meet the obligation of paying school fees.
Congratulations to Mr Palfrey and his partner Leah who had a beautiful baby girl last Friday night. Her name is Isla Maree and she weighed 7lb 11oz. They are all doing very well and we are looking forward to meeting Isla soon!

On 17th March three MIS students The Gumboot Gang (Georgia Robb, Connor Robb & Kayluim Sumner) went to Mystery Creek to compete in the AgriKids Competition. AgriKids is an agricultural competition for children run by the National Bank as a Young Farmers Contest. The purpose of this contest is to promote and give experience on farming and agricultural activities for children. The contest is split into rounds and each round has six teams. They all compete in a range of activities including NZ general knowledge, fence making etc. The top seven teams then went into a Race-off putting all their team work skills to the test. The Gumboot Gang finished in first place in the Race-off and will now compete in the grand final which this year is being held at the new Forsythe Barr Stadium in Dunedin with two other teams from Waikato / Bay of Plenty area. Congratulations! This is an awesome achievement. All the best for the final; we look forward to hearing all about it! Congratulations on receiving the following M.I.S. Merit Programme Awards:

Congratulations to the following students who were selected to represent MIS at the annual InterIntermediate Touch Competition. Boys Team: Jack Devane, Bailey Cook, Sam Cook, Jone Naivalulevu, Jayden Nooyen-Lynch, Reece Patterson, Simon Edmonds, Sean Lovelock, Siggi Holmes and Sean Robinson. Girls Team: Alison Priestley, Alysha Priestley, Toru Ma Koinaki, Wairere-Ata Herewini, Jaz Clark-Cook, Laura Burne, Ariana Wilson, Daumavia Herewini and Emele Ezekiela. The teams are now playing in Hamilton today due to the competition being postponed on Tuesday.

Balloons Over Waikato at MIS (next week) Friday 30th March from 7.00am. All welcome!!
From 7.00am families / students will be able to purchase bacon and egg butties, sausages on bread, hot drinks, Easter Raffle Tickets etc. Family members, students from other schools, younger siblings etc are also invited. Come along to see this amazing balloon and enjoy a delicious breakfast as well! This event will be organised by MI Mates and the breakfast will be a fundraiser for school sports equipment. Thanks for your support!

Saturdays Cricket Report


Year 8 Team
Morrinsville were sent into bat and scored 151, all out in 27 overs. Hamilton Old Boys Pythons reached the target with just 4 balls, and 1 wicket remaining. Great close game played in the sunny conditions! Top Batsmen: Sam Cook 39 retired, Shaun Campbell 16 not out, Judd Covich 15 and Ben Brownlie 14. Top Bowlers: Sean Robinson 2 for 13 off 3 overs, Ben Brownlie 1 for 13 off 3 overs and Sean Lovelock 1 for 12 off 3 overs. Player of the day: Ben Brownlie Great game of cricket with an exciting end. Well done to all the team on a great team effort.

Year 7 Team
The MIS Year 7 team played Te Awamutu Force on Saturday, Te Awamutu scored 89 runs, we scored 90 runs with 14 overs to spare. Player of the day: was Jack Devane retiring on 44 runs.

Our Girls Cricket Gold Team are hosting a game of cricket today against Tauranga Intermediate School. It is great to see the sun shining today for them and our team is enjoying the experience.
The MIS girls involved are: Hanna Zouggari, Sophie Hamilton, Tayla Dunnett, Emma Alsmegeest, Mackenzie Taylor, Baylee Klenner, Ella Wilton, Laura Gilchrist, Chantel Pederson, Jasmine Armstrong, Caoimhe Barker and Tiana Parker.

Top Bowlers: Vincent Green and Josh Doughty who each got two wickets. Overall, it was a great team effort. A big thank you to the parent support.

Morrinsville Soccer Club 2012 Junior Registration


If you missed the registration day please email player details to morrinsvillesoccerclub@hotmail.co.nz Late entries will be taken up to the 25th of March. Meeting for interested coaches/managers/administrators Thursday 22nd March 6pm in the clubrooms.

Congratulations to this years team of Librarians. Twentyeight Librarians were chosen from an amazingly talented list of students it was very difficult to make the selection! Most of the Librarians have received training and will now spend a block of school time per fortnight in the Library. Their duties will include issuing, returning and shelving of books, photocopying and scanning, and setting up displays. Last day for scholastic book orders is tomorrow (Friday 23rd March).

Easter Raffle
Tickets have been sent home; thanks to the students who have been busy selling raffle tickets to family, friends and neighbours! Raffle books and the money must be returned to school by 27th March. The Raffle will be drawn on the 4th April.

Australian Exams 2012


Educational Assessment Australia (EEA) specialises in large-scale assessment including the International Competitions and Assessments for school (ICAS). Listed below are the ICAS subjects, closing and sitting dates and prices. Money for those children who want to sit any exams is due at school one week before the closing date.
