Architect

Architects use creativity and an understanding of structures and materials to develop sketches, plans, specifications and detailed drawings for buildings and other structures. Architects need to keep up with changing trends in the construction industry and the community. They have considerable contact with the public. Architects often specialise in particular types o f work, for example, domestic, low-rise commercial, high-rise commercial, industrial, conservation and heritage buildings.

Educational Requirements:
Degree Courses: Bachelor of Applied Science (Architectural Science), 3 years full time or equivalent Followed by Master of Architecture, 2 years full time or equivalent

Additional Information: Architects must also be registered with the Architects Registration Board in the state or territory in which they wish to prac tice.

Earnings:
Graduate: 30k-35k Over 3 years of experience: 70k Senior Architect: 100k+

Interior Designer
Interior designers plan and oversee the construction or redevelopment of building interiors. They design plans which may incorporate interior construction, materials, finishes, space planning, lighting, furnishings and equipment. They must develop designs that are functional and aesthetically pleasing. Interior designers can work on a wide range of projects, from residential to commercial, retail, hospitality, and institutional projects such as schools and hospitals. A few work as designers on stage, film and television productions.

Diploma Courses: Diploma of Interior Design and Decoration Advanced Diploma of Interior Design

Degree Courses: Bachelor of Arts (Interior Architecture), 4 years full time or equivalent

Graphic Designer
Graphic designers produce artwork and layouts of text and images for reproduction in media, such as magazines, newspapers, books, websites, exhibitions and advertising. Graphic designers create their designs using techniques such as photography, illustrations and computer-generated imagery. Graphic designers may specialise in a number of fields including television, film and computer graphics; set and exhibition design; corporate design; book and magazine design; and advertising and illustration.
