At Saint George our mission is to teach the ways of Christ, to carry the word of God in our hearts, and to reflect the face of
Christ in the community by living the work of our faith with strength and humility. We do this through the Eucharist by
promoting a sense of belonging to all age groups from youth to seniors, with many ministries available through stewardship.

PLEASE JOIN US FOR PALM SUNDAY - NEXT SUNDAY..

Next Sunday is Palm Sunday of the Passion of the Lord which marks
our entrance into the holiest week of the year, the Great Week.

At 9:45 AM parishioners are encouraged to take part in the Annual
Ecumenical service on the Green with the members of the First
Congregational Church and Christ Episcopal Church.

Our own celebration will begin immediately following when we again
gather in front of Saint George Church (weather permitting) for the
distribution and blessing of palm branches.
Then all process into the church following the celebrant, just as the crowds followed Jesus into
Jerusalem on that first Palm Sunday. In the procession, unlike all others, we follow the celebrant
into the Church.

Let us recall that we follow Christ, represented by the celebrant, into Holy Week in order to die
and rise to new life with him. Jesus once entered into the City of Jerusalem in order to die on the
cross and rise from the dead. So now He enters into Holy Week in order to relive his passion,
death and resurrection in each one of us through the sacramental ceremonies of Holy Thursday,
Good Friday, and the Easter Vigil on Holy Saturday evening.

5TH SUNDAY OF LENT
Defending Our Religious Liberty #4
By not adhering to the health care insurance mandate,
religious institutions will be subjected to exorbitant fines,
which could force them into bankruptcy. Have you and your
family considered how this country would be impacted
without Catholic hospitals, which make up one-sixth of the
hospital work force, and the nearly 7,000 Catholic
elementary schools and high schools that educate our
children? Have you thought about the effect it will have on
the 250 Catholic colleges across the United States, and
Catholic Charities, which employs over 70,000
employees? The ramifications are devastating. Help us get
this mandate rescinded. Please contact the offices of your
Congressional Representatives and United States Senators to
express your opposition to the mandate. For addresses &
phones numbers, visit: www.ctcatholic.org or
www.archdioceseofhartford.org.

St. George Mens Retreat -
The Courage to Hope: Finding God in All Things is the theme for the 2011-2012 retreat
season at Holy Family Passionist Retreat Center in West Hartford. Sometimes its easy to experience Gods presence in the
world; feelings of peace remind us we are not alone. But other times we may feel God is absent, and we may lose our
grounding in the faith that has sustained us. Becoming agents of hope in a world of distraction, pessimism and busyness
takes great courage. We will explore how Gods presence, hidden in every moment of life, equips us to be courageous and
hopeful for ourselves and others. Check our website for more details, www.holyfamilyretreat.org. or call Roger Celesk (203-
457-1096) or Roger Richard (203-457-0290). The Guilford Men's retreat is the weekend of April 20-22, 2012.
