SAFETY CHECK-OUT
(US Model only)
Aftercorrectingtheoriginalserviceproblem,performthefollowing
safety checks before releasing the set to the customer
1.
2.
Check that all control knobs, shields, covers, ground straps, and
mounting hardware have been replaced. Be absolutely certain that
you have replaced all the insulators
5.
6.
Check the line cord for cracks and abrasion Recommend the
replacement of any such line cord to the customer
LEAKAGE
The AC leakage from any exposed metal part to earth ground and
from all exposed metal parts to any exposed metal part having a return
to chassis, must not exceed 0.5 mA (SO0 microampers).
Leakage
current can be measured by any one of three methods.
1.
2.
3.
7.
8.
Check the B+ and HV to see they are at the value5 specified. Make
sure your instruments are accurate; be suspicious of your HV

CONFIRMATION) AND READJUSTMENTS
The following adjustments should always be performed when replacing the following components
(marked with 0 on the schematic diagram).

1. Preparation before confirmation
1) Turn the POWER switch ON, and receive entirely white signals and set the PICTURE and
BRIGHT controls to maximum.
2) Confirm that voltage of the check terminal of
pin0 of D-15 is more than 115.OV DC when the
set is operating normally with 120.0-12.OV AC
0
1. Preparation before confirmation
1) Remove R620 on the D board and connect a
variable resistor (RVl : about 20k0 ) between
pin 0 of IC601 and B+ line.
2) Supply 120+2.OV AC to with variable autotransformer.
2. Hold-down operation confirmation
1) Turn the POWER switch ON,\and receive entirely white signals and adjust ABL current to 1650
+ 20 PA with PICTURE and BRIGHT etc controls.
2) Increase B+ line voltage gradually by adjusting
the resistor of RVl. Confirm that the minimum
voltage is less than 144.OV DC whereby the
raster disappears during operation of hold-down
circuit.
NOTE: When the hold-down circuit starts
operating, switch OFF the POWER of
the set immediately.
3) Turn the POWER switch ON, and receive dot
signals and adjust ABL current to 150f20pA
with PICTURE and BRIGHT etc controls.
4) Increase B+ line voltage gradually by adjusting
the resistor of RVl. Confirm that the miniium
voltage is less than 148.OV DC whereby the
raster disappears during operation of hold-down
circuit.
NOTE : When the hold-down circuit starts
operating, switch OFF the POWER of
the set immediately.
3. Hold-down readjustment
suPPlY*
2. Hold-down operation confirmation
1) Turn the POWER switch ON, and receive entirely white signals and adjust ABL current to 1650
+- 20 PA with PICTURE and BRIGHT etc controls.
2) Apply DC voltage of over 130V DC gradually to
the check terminal of pin0 of D-15 via lT40
from the DC stabilized power source.
Confirm that the minimum voltage is less than
14O.OV DC whereby the raster disappears during
operation of hold-down circuit.
NOTE : When the hold-down circuit starts
operating, switch OFF the POWER of
the set immediately.
3) Turn the POWER switch ON, and receive dot
signals and adjust ABL current to 150-I-20pA
with PICTURE and BRIGHT etc controls.
4) Apply DC voltage of over 130V gradually to the
check terminal of pinO of D-15 via lT40 from
the DC stabilized power source.
Confirm that the minimum voltage is less than
140.5V DC whereby the raster disappears during
operation of hold-down circuit.
NOTE : When the hold-down circuit starts
operating, switch OFF the POWER of
the set immediately.
).
3. Hold-down readjustment
When step 2 is not satisfied, readjustment should
be performed by altering the resistance value of

-,,,,,,,I
All resistors are in ohms.
m: nonflammable resistor.
B : fusible resistor.
A: internal component.
0: panel designation, and adjustment for repair.
All variable and adjustable resistors havecharacteristic
curve B, unless otherwise noted.
. The components identified by q
in this basic
schematic diagram have been carefully factoryselected for each set in order to satisfy regulations
regarding X-ray radiation.
Should replacement be required, replace only with the
value originally used.
. When replacing components identified by 1, make
the necessary adjustments indicated. If results do not
meet the specified value, change the component
identified by s and repeat the adjustment until the
specified value is achieved.
(Referto R542 and R543 on page28-29 in the Service
Manual.)
When replacing the part in below table be sure to
par-form the related adjustment.
