Professor Lynch, This is, Cirdan Ellenwood, and it has been a long time since we has last communicated, and am not certain that you remember me from your communications class in Las Vegas. When attending CCSN you were active in SAG. Strikingly, your insight and influence greatly impacted me. I now have a 2yr old, he is exceptional. You were once my favorite teacher and instructor, I looked up to you and admired you and respected you.

On the first day of class when you walked in I was wondering what you would be like! I was nervous. I'm sure I wasn't the only one. As soon as you made a joke it made me feel more comfortable. Humor is definitely important when communicating. Who wants to talk or listen to someone boring?!

5/12/11 COM940 Professor Lynch gives you a chance to build from your mistakes from your speeches. Every speech he requires more of what you should be learning, thus the last speech is the toughest. Doesnt require a bunch of busy work. Puts his effort on speeches not lecture time BUT that means YOU MUST be responsible for the book info that is on the mid term and final. He does provide a long list of questions that may be on the exams. 5/15/11 I really learned a lot in this class. It was very intuitive and entertaining! I enjoyed learning about the importance of listening and how it is so under rated. I also enjoyed learning how to conduct scholarly research. I never knew that wikipedia was considered to be weaksauce by collegiate individuals. Now i can confidently search out information that will be accurate and peer reviewed. Good times

To Whom It May Concern, Mr. Lynch was my Communications 101 teacher. As a nontraditional returning student, who had not taken classes for over twenty years, I went into the class thinking that I would die because we had to give speeches and it would not be very fun. However, because of Mr. Lynch, the class was very exciting, and I got to know a lot of people. Mr. Lynch made all of the information easy to understand and if we had any questions, we felt free and confident enough to ask. This class built up my confidence, and has made it easier for me to talk to and in front of others. We talked about current situations and what was going on in the news and how it related to communications, which was nice because it kept me up to speed on what was going on around the world. Mr. Lynch was also very helpful with our speeches and would work with us individually, with the whole class, and over e-mail. He was always available and willing to help. He made the class difficult enough to where we learned something and we had to the work and do it right in order to get a good grade, but he made sure that we understood everything and gave us all of the material and advice we would need to do well. Thank you for a great semester! I have enjoyed your class tremendously and I did not dread attending as each Tuesday I have walked away with knowledge of some kind. I did really enjoy the history that you incorporated in the class (guess that means I am getting or am Old). I also have mentioned you to 4 students who need to take 101. One of them works at bch in the ER dept she has her LPN and is going back for her RN. Our children attend school together. The other few I am good friend with. So I hope you will have a exciting class in the fall but as you know the spring Boulder City class of 2010 is the best and for some reason our personalities seem to click. Again thank you .

High priority Mr. Lynch, I intend to write a strong positive formal letter for you when I am not groggy. I just logged in to see my grade on the Final. I am surprised I did so well but truthfully I did study for days on end. My reason for surprise is not that I did not understand or grasp the materiel but the way my brain functions at this time in my life is a frustrating thing to me. Hey Art, I took your class in January and I promised that I'd update you when my baby was born. I was the pregnant woman that looked like I'd pop any time. Well, Nicholas was due March 13th, but came two weeks early. He was born February 28th at 10:10pm. He was 7 pounds, 5 ounces and 19 inches long. The number two goal is to graduate with honors. The nursing program requires me to have high grades in certain biology classes while just getting at least a B in other disciplines. For some reason, I didn't realize our class was a +/- grade class. Because of that, I just Focused on making my Microbiology class a B+ instead of a B. I know it seems like I really dropped the ball but I scored a 98.2% on my Microbiology final, pushing my grade up from a B to a B+. A good friend of mine mentioned something to me. He mentioned how many Korean families tend to teach their kids that life was a ladder. You have to keep climbing. Once you get to the top, everything will come-marriage, career, education, and success. Life however is not like that ladder. It's like a balance. If you try to put everything on one side, then the other side will completely fall apart. Also, if that one thing you depend in life on falls apart, you have absolutely nothing--quite similar to that whole "all your eggs in one basket." In other words, balance is key. That's what I thought about when I realized after speaking to a Nursing counselor at UNLV. She said to focus on my Biology classes, not having Honors. It stinks because a lot of the reasons I took courses was to learn a lot, not just because they were required. Now I feel as though I am pushed to focus more on certain areas more than others (microbiology, chemistry, etc.). I'm waiting to find out how I did in my Macroeconomics class. I'm wondering if I Dropped the ball in there too. -.-; On another note, we always remember that the more difficult the path is, the more you'll be happy when you reach your destination. It seems like you have a lot going on in your life but at the same time, I know for strong people like us, we always find ways to persevere. Whether it's true or not, always tell yourself "if you tried your best, you'd be the best." You're going to do great and when people see your name, "Art Lynch", they will think of the many accomplishments you've made. Regardless of what my stupid counselor said, when people will judge me, I know they will not remember an A in 4-5 of my classes, rather they'll remember the C I got a couple years ago in my Pizza Dough Roughing class. We always have to do our best to be balanced (the C is representation of the one mistakes I make in life, not the literal C). This lady is obviously messing with my balance! Great to hear from you! Your new website is looking good. Thanks for checking up on me! Everything is beyond great, and it just keeps getting better. A general update: I transferred to UNLV in Fall of 2008 and decided to double major in English and Psychology. I expect to graduate with my Bachelor's in Psychology at the end of Summer 2010, and with my Bachelor's in English in the Spring of 2011. Meanwhile, I joined Dr. Kim Barchard's Emotional Intelligence psychology lab as a Research Assistant this semester to get some research experience in the direction of graduate studies in Psychology. As to which direction in Psychology, I am still unsure. Probably Clinical, perhaps Educational, but I just wish Extra-Sensory Perception had more credibility (I loved that movie Vibes with Cyndi Lauper and Jeff Goldblum!). Worth sticking out. Grades easier than he pretends all term. Friendships form and class can be fun if you stick it out and give it a chance. Best teacher so far at CSN or UNLV. Don't let his trying to scare you get to you, it is worth staying to the end of the term and getting a good grade.

Good teacher for students who are nervous about taking a speech course. He helps make it easier. Encourages students to work and have fun in his class. Gives all the test answers in advance, but you still have to study. Take Mr. Lynch's class!

Class was somewhat easy. Sometimes he didn't make sense. The textbook is mandatory, it is seriously going to be your world for the entire class. Overall if you work hard and study you will do well, he is a fairly laid back teacher, but don't make him mad and show up for all speeches or expect a 0 on the assignment!!!!

Pro. Lynch is an outstanding professor, one of the best at this college. He takes the time to explain complex ideas and is willing to work with you one on one if you need it. The text book used was terrible but this is the last class that will be using it. I highly recommend you take THIS COURSE with THIS PROFESSOR.

pro lynch was an easy going teacher though he was trying to be tough on speeches and quizes but he never succeeded. He will throw out some terms once in a while and you will have no idea what he's talking about. but he will mostly give out the answer for the tests. just review the quizes. afterall, he's a fun teacher to take.

Excellent teacher makes class enjoyable and application of material rewarding. Difficult Scantron exams and criteria for speech grades gets hard toward end of term, but grading appears liberal. Class became friends by end of term.Expect politics and history as examples, too often!

Professor Lynch is a great teacher! He is very helpful and will work with you on your speeches if you have any questions. I thought I was going to hate the class because I don't like public speaking but he kept class fun and interesting. He is my favorite professor to date, and my favorite class! Take him if you have the chance.

Take home tests + final, all are lenghty, but only hard if you didn't read the text before hand. Opinion based questions, so just apply concepts from book & attend class = easy A. Every day was fun and most students stayed after class to talk with him. You will enjoy this class and learn lots about yourself, others and art of interpersonal com.

He's a pretty cool dude, when I first got in the class I thought I was going to hate him but it just takes a while to understand him. Demo Speech - Do food! And go first whenever you can... he cuts a lot of slack and really wants all of his students to succeed.

He is pretty cool and class is usually fun, but he likes to talk about politics and is a Democrat. Republicans beware! Other than that you can learn a lot from him if you do the work.

Took him two years ago, but recently found out this site so don't know if his teaching the same. I personally love to talk so this class was great. Got an A after missing a large speech. He does cut a lot of slack even tho he says differently. Very interesting professor and great guy overall.

he is a great teacher. his class is never boring and he is not afraid of dissent. he has a good sense of humor and keeps the class lively. he will help you with anything if he can even if it relates to something that has nothing to do with this particular class. if you are lazy and dont want to work to much DONT TAKE HIS CLASS.

He's a big dude, but he only looks more intimidating than he really is. Very nice man, encourges students to do their best, and is very knowledgeable on a great deal of subjects. Good professor for shy people who are nervous about taking a speech course.
