RECOMMENDATIONS Based on the major findings of the situation in Session and Harrison Road respectively, the researchers came

to some recommendations that will change the original design study of the area. The following were the recommendations for each of the crosswalks along Session Road. Crosswalk A (which is beside Mc Donalds) will remain as it is, but another pedestrian will be installed below the intersecting road, just below Mabini road to lessen the congestion at the Crosswalk A. Likewise the researchers will be imposing that there will be No Right and Left Turn of vehicles coming from the intersecting road (Mabini Road). These recommendations was based on the Level of Service (LOS) of the crosswalk which is equal to 7.189 where in it is C having a maximum pedestrian volume of 2370 . Crosswalk B (which is beside the stairs going to Cathedral) has a Level of Service (LOS) of A wherein, changes in the area is not needed. Crosswalk D (which is located at the uppermost pedestrian lane of Session Road) having a LOS of A will remain, but a traffic light will be installed beside it to lessen the risk for having accident. Crosswalk C (which is located beside Porta Vaga) having a LOS of A will be closed, but the volume of it will be transferred to Crosswalk D for the crossings public less patronize it. The researchers greatly focus the study at the Crosswalk 1 (the pedestrian lane near the overpass beside Tiongsan Harrison) in Harrison Road. They have imposed two (2) reasons in that area wherein they came up into an unpredictable recommendation. Number one (1) is when the GO signal for turning left of the vehicles coming from Mabini occur, the signal lights of the crossing public also turns Green which means GO sadly several of the motorists still insist to go right where the possibility of having accidents in the area is pretty much large. Number two (2) is when theres a queue of vehicles starting below the overpass it reaches the Crosswalk A near it which causes the covering of the pedestrian lane that the crossing public must cross. Now the researchers recommended that the pedestrian will be closed due to that reasons. And a signal light Turning Right will then be installed at the area. The volume of the Crosswalk 1

will then be transferred to Crosswalk 3 (the crosswalk beside Land Bank) having a LOS of A. Likewise, Crosswalk 2 (near Crosswalk 1) having also a LOS of A will be closed due to the results that very seldom the crossing public used the crosswalk, its volume now would be transferred to Crosswalk 3. For that case the new Level of Service of Crosswalk 3 will climb up to 5.5 which is B, wherein the researchers would recommend widening the area. Since, the traffic light at the Crosswalk 1 (which will be closed) will be removed; the traffic light will be transferred at Crosswalk D (located at the uppermost pedestrian of Session Road). The Crosswalk 4 (crosswalk near the Social Security System (SSS)) having a Level of Service of A will be retained as it is. The researchers also recommend providing the most effective traffic signal to accommodate the pedestrian utilizing the crosswalks along both road which is a pedestrian countdown display to act as a significant increase of pedestrian safety and decrease of delays for vehicular activities. Zebra Crossing, which is used in many places around the world, its distinguishing feature is alternating dark and light stripes on the road surface, is a type of pedestrian crossing that the researchers recommend to install at the crosswalks of both roads. Zebra Crossing was recommended but with some modifications, instead of alternating dark and light stripes on the road surface, pedestrian traffic signals will be added to give a signal for the pedestrian to GO and to STOP for Crosswalk A and D for Session Road and Crosswalk 3 for Harrison Road. .
