Celeste Etheridge running for Alvin ISD Board

Celeste Etheridge was the first person to file for Alvin ISD School Board of Trustees Position #2 because, I am and want to continue to be a voice for the community. I am devoted to the Community for Quality Education! She has over 30 years of experience working with youth via tutoring programs, peer mentoring partnerships, leadership organizations, teaching assistance, and community outreach. She is a very active founding member of the Glenn York PTO Board and a constant school and community volunteer. I personally know the benefits of receiving an excellent public education: reared in public schools from elementary through high school; earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) from a reputable state college; worked as an engineer and supervisor in corporate America for more than 10 years with manufacturing, educational, and medical corporations; and received a Master of Business Administration degree (MBA) while pregnant and working full-time. Celeste, an Alvin ISD parent of 3 children, is an involved parent in her childrens educational and life endeavors. She does her best, in the community, to help minimize daily obstacles to create a positive-focused learning environment for all children. I have always promoted increased parental involvement as one of the keys needed to achieve and maintain standards of EXCELLENCE for the students, the teachers, the district, and the community. When everyone works together for the students educational growth, excellence is achieved; and students, who are readily prepared to conquer college, junior college, and/or a skilled-trade profession, are produced. These skills are needed to succeed in the future global economy. Alvin ISD is a growing district, I will work with the community and the school board to achieve and exhibit a healthy group dynamic. For example, giving the districts residents easy access to public AISD information so they can be aware of the districts agenda and measures before they attend the school board meetings. Celeste will do research to make sure she is well-informed on issues so she can accurately inform the community, address their concerns, answer their questions, and conduct informed votes on school board issues. Her strong decision-making approach utilizes problem analysis, the balancing of needs and concerns, and the ability to see the long-term implications of an action. I am fiscally responsible in my personal finances and will use this same technique when voting on school board issues. I would propose that the school board work with local businesses to help develop more innovative teaching grants (in subject areas that are the companys expertise) to provide educational tools to teachers that will enhance the students instructional and motivational learning environments. Serving as a trustee for the school board is a volunteer position, but I plan to treat it like a fulltime job because YOUR children and mine are important to me! With your VOTE and participation, I can further serve our community by helping our school district maintain a culture of educational EXCELLENCE! I appreciate your support!
