The Sunday after Easter Pastor Brandon will begin a series entitled, the Hospitable Church. With the help of James 2 we will examine what it means to show no favoritism or partiality. We will see that at the heart of the Christian faith and Gospel is Jesus Christ who came and gave of all he had to the poor, needy, lowly, despised and rejected of society. We cannot call ourselves Christians unless we live lives of mercy, justice, generosity and impartiality. So, in light of this here are a few tips on holding a small group that is hospitable to outsiders. How to Hold a Hospitable Small Group (@ home or church) Talk positive about our lovely community, Acadiana. Be interested in the art, literature, cuisine and culture of Acadiana. Speak in everyday language avoiding pious, hyper-spiritual and cliquish language. Explain necessary, BIblical and technical terms. Show love and humility toward those who are diverse from your group. Look around the room and ask, "Why are we all the same? Are we to blame? Are we centered on something other than Christ?" Do not bash other Christians or Churches. Do not consider yourself to be superior to anyone. Remember that you serve a hospitable Lord who endured your different manners, customs, etiquette, language, and attire. He even loved you out of your idolatry. And still is.

Covenant Institute April 9

Our upcoming class on Reformation History will take an honest look at the prominent people, places and events of the Reformation era. We will examine men such as Luther, Calvin, Zwingli and even the Anabaptists. Earn a certificate in Biblical studies or simply come and enjoy the tales and times of the Reformation. Classes start Monday, April 9th, 7:00 PM Personal Evangelism: The last thing Jesus said to his disciples before ascending into Heaven was a command: Go, and make disciples of every nation. Yet, many Christians are taking no personal part in this commission. Many Christians desire to take part in personal evangelism but just don't know what to do or say. Biblical and Personal Evangelism, taught by Pastor Brandon, is designed to equip every Christian to take part in the Great Commission, to evangelize friends and family, to make disciples. Come get equipped to tell others of Christ and His Gospel.
