1. How can a manager demonstrate that he or she is a responsible end user of information systems? Assume the manager himself uses appropriate information systems that suit his/ her work responsibility as well as manages subordinates who relay on information systems of various types.( in relation to info. Syst. Resources) 2. How can information systems erect barriers to entry, increase switching costs and lock in customers as one mechanism of capitalizing on a firms strategic advantage? Use real life business examples to support your answers. 3. Elaborate the following topics -systems approach to problem solving -the systems approach and its basic steps -The systems development life cycle, its importance and the five steps in the traditional information systems development cycle. 4. Why is security an important issue in the use and management of information systems? Consider transaction processing systems, decision support systems & strategic information systems to present the prevalent risks and threats. Associated with this, what measures can be taken to avoid the actualization of the risks and threats you mentioned? (Relate your answers with the discussions we have had regarding quality of information, failure of information systems and the fundamental knowledge areas of MIS) 5. Although it might be new to our country, many nations have been benefiting from it recently. Why it is important in todays society? What are its benefits? What are its basic components? What kind of challenges do governments face in developing and implementing e-governance systems? *Select one country which implemented e-governance and present how the governmental institutions are benefiting from this practice. E.g. USA, India and Thailand.
