A note from Ms. Hofer...

The month of March was busy and eventful! The Pre-Ks used their imaginations, while exploring the land of Nursery Rhymes and Fairy Tales. We are still working to complete our mini-booklets, which contain all the Nursery Rhymes weve been focusing on. These will be sent home as a keepsake when completed. Our Math Literacy Day was a success, and the consultants did some interesting math-integrated actives with the students. Take a look at our classroom blog for some pictures on the events that went on. After the Easter Break we will be accepting Pre-K applications for the 2012-2013 school year. Because we offer a Need-Based Program in Pre-K, we do not create our enrollment on a first come first serve basis. After all the applications are received , there will be intake meetings held at the end of the year to determine the selection. Please feel free to speak with me if you have any further questions regarding this process. On behalf of Ms. Paul and myself, we would like to wish everyone a blessed Easter. May you find time to celebrate the re-birth of Jesus and cherish the time spent with family and friends! Happy Easter!

The Theme of the month: New Life/ Spring

With the resurrection of Jesus, we will be celebrating the theme of New Life/rebirth. This month we will be exploring the many changes that take place during spring. Some events include: Spring walks, planting seeds, and exploring the transformation of the butterfly and other sources of nature. We will be doing a lot of investigating and discovering during this theme. Curricular connections include: intellectual development, as the Pre-Ks will be encouraged to question, to observe and to experiment. Do you have any chipped dishes that you would like to get rid of? If so we are making a special craft this month, which requires coloured broken glass/stones. If you have any old colourful plates, bowls, cups, gems, or small stones that you are willing to donate then you can drop them off at the Pre-K room. Thanks for your help!

Lent Update
A huge ThankYou goes out to all the donations that came in for our Lent Fundraiser. Thank you for your support with our classroom chore list that was sent home in March, and any other donations that were made. If your child has not yet completed their chores, it is not too late. You have till the end of the week. I hope the Pre-Ks were able to learn a few things about what it means to give and help others. We are getting closer to our goal of $250, as we have currently earned $180! Stay posted as we reveal the winner of the Teacher Make Over event after the Easter Break. You can be sure to see pictures posted on our classroom blog. :)

Family Day
Our last Family Day, at the Glencairn Bolodrome, was a great turn out. Thanks to all of you who were able to attend. I know its not easy shuffling your work schedules around. Because of the events going on in early April, we were not able to fit a Family Day in before the break. Stay posted this week for a note regarding Family Day, as I am waiting for confirmation on a particular event.
