VISTA SUMMER ASSOCIATE

THE GREENHOUSE
A CHRISTIAN COMMUNITY ENRICHMENT CENTER

The GreenHouse is a Christian Community Enrichment Center located in the Gardenland/Northgate neighborhood of Sacramento, California. We offer after-school tutoring, mentoring, summer camp, youth groups, leadership development, and skillbuilding workshops to under-resourced youth. Our mission is to cultivate a thriving community by nurturing the emotional, spiritual, intellectual, and physical development of our youth and inspiring them to grow to their full potential. FOCUS & SCOPE Essential duties and responsibilities, i.e. those which are basic, necessary, and an integral part of the job, are indicated below.

Implement and oversee the Adventure Zone (elementary) and Liquid (teen)
summer day camps. Develop and nurture relationships with children, teens, and parents. Plan and implement a day camp theme and daily activities (games, crafts, singing) Implement the USDA Free Summer Lunch Program. Work with other volunteers and encourage them to use their gifts. Collaborate with other GreenHouse staff and with staff from other agencies as needed. Supervise youth on field trips. Assist in the planning and implementation of an End of the Summer Celebration Support and contribute to a safe and healthy work environment.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS: Education: High school diploma; some college preferred. Experience & Industry Expertise : 1 year working in childrens or youth ministry in an urban setting preferred

Ability to lead large group activities/discussion with

children. Ability to interact with youth from a variety of cultural and ethnic backgrounds. Creativity, ability to plan daily activities that keep youth engaged Ability to lead, encourage, and support a volunteer staff. Passion for urban ministry/ministering to youth
