COMPUTER NOTES

To move to desktop press window key + m, window + d, and Control + escape and alt + m. To read the items typed use arrow keys To read word by word use control + arrow keys To know the title press insert key + t To go to task bar first go to desktop then use tab key to navigate To jump into the items on the task bar use alt + tab key To know the running applications use insert+f10. To go to start menu press window key. To go the sub menu press right arrow key or use enter key. To go back to the previous menu use left arrow key or escape Key. To read the entire text use insert+ down arrow. To know the cursor position use numpad 5 once. To clarify the letter use numpad twice. To read the current word use insert numpad 5 once. To create file u get option in the file menu, in file menu go to new sub menu there u can see the options of which file is to be created. The extension of text documents is .txt, document file is .doc, power point is ppt, and excel is xls. To rename the file or folder use f2.

View menus We can change the view of the list of items, u get this option in view menu, u can even arrange the list according to the need in arrange icons sub menu. To view the status bar use insert page down. To know the name of file use insert control +1, to know the size of file use insert control + 2, to know the type of file use insert control + 3, to know the modified date use insert control + 4. Written by Kichu Jaws cursor To activate Jaws cursor use insert num pad - and to deactivate use num pad +. To work on it u can use navigation keys. To modify it use insert r. Properties of files and folders To go to the properties use alt enter, u can hide the files and folders make it read only and many options in it. We can also get the details of files and folders such as the size type etc. Invert selection In invert selection is used to select the item which is not selected, This is used when few files has to be unselected. Find in windows explorer To get find use f3, we can search files and folders using this. If the file name not known to us u can just give * and the extension of the file or if u know the first letter of the file say for example m u can just type m* and extension. We can also give the word which is known in the file and search the file Creating short cuts

To create short cuts we have to bring our focus in to the file Or folders and use applications key there we get send to sub menu there we can decide where to send. Another option for short cut is copy the file or folder which is to be created short cut and bring your focus where the short cut has to be created and take the edit menu there u get the option for that. Save as Save as is used to save the files, we can decide the where to send the file, which folder or drive. The key is alt + f and use a. Open... We get open... option in the file menu, vt is used to open the file, we can open any files using this. In open... we can assign the Destination and the files ad the folders, It is mainly used to get a file when we are in any files also give the type of file. The hot key is control +o. WinZip WinZip is used to compress a file or folder. We get this option in file menu if this application is installed in our computer. The hot key is z in the file menu. When we zip a file we get 2 file, the original and the zipped file. It makes a copy of the original file. The same thing will happen when we extract the zipped file. Networking There are 3 types of networking, they are LAN, MAN, and WAN. LAN is local area network which is used in a small area,

MAN is metro area network, and WAN is wide area network used in a wide area. To do network in local area, we should go to My Network and Places which is available in our desktop. In that we should go to entire network and select the computer to which we have to transfer the data. We can cut or copy the data to the share documents of the computer to which the data has to be transferred. Jaws help To get Jaws help our focus should be in the Jaws window. There we have to press f1 to get the help window. There we get 4 pages, they are contents, search , index and glossary. There in contents the options are arranged in tree view. We can operate just like windows explorer. To view the opened topic use f6. To get back to the page u can use alt b or back space. To get back we can use f6 also. In index page we can type the name of the subject in which we want help and look for in it the list and use display button to get the item for the help. In search page u can just type the item in which u want help and give ok to get it. In glossary page we will get information of the item which we type there. Quitting Jaws and getting it back 1. To get jaws use windows key and m, and press j if there is Only one item starting with j. 2. To get jaws from programs use window key and pressp p to

go to programs and press j if there is only one item starting with j. 3. To get jaws u can go to run dialogue box and type jaws and press enter to get it. To go to system tray use insert f11. For screen sensitive help be in the window and use f1. Jaws configuration To go to Jaws configuration use insert f2 and choose Jaws configuration from the menu then u will get jcf file, then use alt key to go to file menu there u will get set of option test processing dialogue box there we can make the changes what we want. There we can get user options also there we can make changes of what we want. Jaws prompt Jaws prompt is used to change the name of the elements of the dialogue box. The short cut key for prompt is insert+control+tab. You can just delete the name by pressing Delete key and type the name which we want. We can also give tuter option if we want. Dictionary in jaws To get dictionary use insert+d. It helps use to make jaws pronounce the words as we want, for example we can asign for US as United States Of America. So when we type US we can hear jaws reading United States Of America. We can also asign some sound so when we type the name asigned for the sound we can hear the sound. After doing the changes do save .

Jaws verbosity To get Jaws verbosity use inser+v, we get a list of items we can just change the options by using space key when our focous is in the slected item in the list. The change is not permenet if we do alt tab the change will go of. Graphics label We can label the graphic item on the window by using this option. For that we should first slect graphic verbosity, slect all from the Jaws verbosity, then bring our focous to the graphic on the window and use insert+g, we will get a dialogue box in which we can make changes of our need. It is used for easy identification of graphics. To know the system properties bring our focus to my computer and use alt + enter, to navigate between the pages use control + tab. MS Word MS word is used to create documents, we get more options than notepad in word. In word we get title bar menu bar tool bar and status bar . In word we can use page down to go to next screen, page up to go to previous screen control page down to go to next page, control page up to go to previous page. We can use control delete to delete the word, we can also use control back space. To know the present line use insert delete. To know the page use insert page down. To read the sentence use alt down arrow. To read the paragraph use control down arrow. We can jump to the line or page which we want using go

to . To use go to use control+g, the option available in edit menu. In go to we will get the list , line or page. In edit column we can type the line number or the page number and get it . In word we can use all navigation keys which we use in the notepad. To find the word which we want use control+f, to move to next word use control+ page down and move to the previous word use control+ page up. To find and replace use control+h, we can find a word and replace it with the word we want. In word we can open a new document by the option available in file menu that is new, the short key is control + n. To navigate between the documents use alt + f6, or control + f6. Formatting in word To make the slected text bold use control b. To make the slected text underlined use control u. To make the slected text left aligned use control l. To make the slected text right aligned use control r. To make the slected text centrelised use control e. To make the slected text justified use control j. To know the changes made use insert f twice. To make the slected text italic use control i. To go to formatting option use control shift f. To go to size option use control shift o. We even get change case... there we get some radio buttons that is toggle upper case and title options. In outline jaws wont read. We can also give bullets and numbering for the text which we want. We get this option in format menu, there we get multiple dialogue box from which we can slect the bullets and numbers. The key is alt+ o+ n. Tab Dialogue box. It is used to set the position of tab key say for example by

default it is 0.5, we can change it of our need. It is used in documents for a good look. Paragraph settings By this dialogue box we can set line positioning and paragraph positioning, say for example by default it is one line we can change it 1.5 lines of our nee. It is used in a big document when it is formatted. Columns in word Columns are used in documents for differentiating between some data. We get this dialogue box in format menu. We can use alt down arrow or control down arrow to read text. To break the column use shift control enter. To break the page use control enter. Page set up Page set up is used to give the margin size, we can change the margin size we can select whether we want portrait or land scaping. We get this option in file menu. use alt f and u to get this option. Spell check Spell check is used to clear the spelling errors and grammer errors. To get this option use f7. In this dialogue box we will get the suggestion for the spellings. We can add new words in to the dictionary by the option available in the dialogue box. Redo Redo is used to repeat the previous action.

Paste hyper link It is used to create a link in the document, say for example chapter 8 is in page number 100 you can go to the page and copy the chapter and bring your cursor to the place where we want to create link and go to the edit menu and use h to activate the hyper link. Then we will get the link for the 100th page. We can create link for another document, for both the document should be open and saved and you can copy the link of the document for which we want link in the other document. Clear form sub menu It is used to clear the format, if you activate this the whole document will be in the default format. Paste special... It is used to paste the copyed textt. Here we can slect the format which we want to paste, formatted or un formatted http format etc. Tables in word To create table in word you go to table menu by useing alt a. Then take table... and give the columns and rows which we want. To move to next cell use tab key. To move between the cells all the sides use control+ alt+ all four naviggation keys. To go the top of the table use alt control and home. To got to end of the table use control alt and end key. To move to the previous cell use shift and tab. When we use tab key the text inside the cell will be slectedd. To delete the rows and columns use alt a and get the delete sub menu there we will get the

options. To know the hedding of column use alt 1. To know the hedding of the row use alt 7. To know the cell in which we are use insert c. To know how many tables are there use insert control and t. To read a column, press Ctrl+Shift+C. To read a row, press Ctrl+Shift+R. Convert This option is in table menu. It is used to change text to table and table to text. Sort Sort is used to arrange the text in alphabetical either decending or acending order. Merging Merging is use to join the splitted table for example if there is 2 columns by merging we can make it to 1. Splitting Splitting is used to split the table in to two. For that we should keep our cursor in the row which we want to split for example if our cursor is in 1st row it splits the second row. Table properties Table properties is used to change the width of the row or column. We get the multiple dialogue box there. Selection Slection is used to slect the rows or columns or the table. For that we can use alt a and c. Insertion

In insertion we can add column and rows of the way we want. Foot notes and end notes Foot notes and end notes are used to give notes in the end of the page or end of document. for that we should go to inserrt menu and use n. for that we should select the text and go to insert menu and use n, to read the notes use alt shift e, to create the notes use alt control f. To move to both document and foot pain use f6. Thesauras- It is used to get multiple meaning of the words which we slected, the short key is shift f7. Excel Excel is a electronic sheet which has a inbuilt calculator in it. To move between the rows and columns use all navigation keys when we are in a cell the text inside the cell is slected. To move to the last column which has a text use control down arrow To move to the last row which has text in it use control right arrow. To create a row use insert menu and row option there, our focus should be on the top row, for example if our focus is in a2 the new row will be created above the a2 row. To create new column use insert option there column, the column will be created to the left of the column where our focus is there. For example if our focus is in the b1 the new column will be created to left of b1. To delete the rows or columns use edit menu, there delete dialogue box. To slect the row use shift space key. To slect the column use control space. To get the list of row cells use control shift r. To get the column cells use control shift c. To get the list of sheets use control shift s.

To copy or move the sheets go to edit menu there you get copy or move dialogue box where we can do it. To rename the sheets go to format menu there sheets sub menu there you get this option. To increase the width of the cells go to format sub menu there you get cell... there you can change the width or select the word wrap option. control 1 is the short key. We can slect the cell using shift arrow keys. If my focus is on b1 and you have to slect till b7 which is the last cell which contains data use shift control down arrow. To create a blank line in the cell use alt enter. To give the visualisation use alt shift v. To give the border use cell... in the format menu and go to the border tab. To give the date and time formatting go to cell... and go to number tab. To merge the cell use cell... from the formatting menu there you get this option in alignment tab. Formula's To calculate in excel we have to use formulas. To find the sum use =sum(the cell range, seprate it with :) To find minimum use min, to find maximum use max. to multiply use product and the cell range. In insert menu we get function... we can get formula and details. If formula, to use this use =if(a>=x,:pass:,:failed:) To use mulitple if use =if(a>=x,:passed:,:failed:,if(a>=x,:3rd class:,if(a>=60,:first class:))). Sorting in excel, we get this option in data menu, it is a dialogue box. Here we get the option which column has to be sorted, we get then by edit option, this option is used when there is two names of same type. Filter in excel

This option is used to get the specified data for example we need the details of the b.a graduate we can use this option, only this list will be listed. We get this option in data menu, filter sub menu, check it . To get the list use alt down arrow and select the item and press enter. To get back the text go to data menu and activate show all, and un check the filter option. In filter we get custom... by which we can filter of our need for example we can filter alphabetically by giving the first letter and last letter of our need. Chart... By this dialogue box we can give chart in excel sheet. it is a set of 4 dialogue box, the text has to be slected with the column title. Comments. Comments can be given by this, be in the cell in which we have to give commands and go to insert menu and type the commend. to read the command use control shift '. To remove the commend go to edit menu there clear sub menu, use commends there. freze panes This is used to get the columns title fixed even if you move the screen down. For this our focus should be in the second row then go to window menu and activate freeze pane. Hedder and footer... We can get this option in veiw menu, it is adialogue box. To write the hedder use custom hedder button same way we can insert the footer. Fill sub menu It is used to fill the same information to the cell which we want. First we have to slect the cell in which we want data then go to edit menu and press i, we can slect which direction we want. To

get the data downwards use control d, rightwards use control r. here we get series option which help us to enter numbers accordingly, month and weekdays. To insert the numbers our focus should be in linear, the date it should be in auto fill. To delete the sheet go to edit menu there you get delete sheet Mail merging- It is used to sent mail to different address. By mail merging we can change the address of the same document of our created list. We can get this option in tools menu there letters and mailing submenu. Protection_ We get this option in tools menu. By this we can give protection for the document. We can assign password for the document. option. Power Point Power point is used to do pressentations.in pp In the place hold area we can type, after typing use escape key to come out. If we want to do editing in the text area come to place hold area and use enter key. To move the slides use page down or page up.we get 4 parts in the work area. they are slide pane, task pane, notes pane and thum nails pane. When we open a file our focus will be taken to the place hold area. To get a new slide use control m. To get the different slides go to the format menu and slect slide lay out. There you can use right or left arrow in the list. To move between the pane use f6 and to move anticlockwise use shift f6.
