Dear Guest:

April 20, 2012

Welcome to the 2012 State of Health Care Conference and the HIMSS State Healthcare Information Technology Day! The State of Health Care Conference is the State Capitols premier health care event designed to break down the barriers between the public and private sectors on issues of health care reform. The emergence of new technologies and regulations in health care, require now more than ever, stakeholders, elected officials and government agencies to work closely together to implement changes mandated by the Health Information Technology and Economic Clinical Health (HITECH) Act. Todays event serves as a vehicle to help open the channels of communication between private sector stakeholders, elected, and government officials. The planning team would like to thank everyone who has helped make todays event possible. First and foremost, a special thanks to our event co-sponsor HIMSS Northern California. Todays event has been coordinated with the HIMSS State HIT Day to help increase education and awareness in the Capitol region about the importance of health information technology to improving patient health. We would also like to thank our other sponsors: Alexan International, KPMG, TIBCO Software, The Ballard Group, BAE Company, and Logicalis. Thanks to their support we are able to provide todays program free of charge to state, legislative and non-profit employees and policymakers. Finally, we would like to thank our guest speakers and panelists, some of whom have traveled from across the country to be with us to present here today. Todays event provides an excellent opportunity to learn about how technology is transforming health care and improving the coordination and management of patient care. Please take advantage of everything this conference has to offer and enjoy presentations from some of the nations leading advocates and industry thought leaders.
