In case this is not configured as it says above, check the next point to run the sevices and set it up as automatic (to run the services every time the O.S starts). If it's able to run and set up as automatic, go to point 3.

2.1-.To set up as ''automatic'', just go to the properties of the windows time services and change the status type. In case it's showing a error when you want to start the services as the following screenshot, chek if the Log on on properties is configured right. It should be configured as the services that are running in the same process as windows time.

By default deppending of the windows version you are using, the windows services is logged on differently and if it's not propperly set this erros could be shown. So this is one options that could solve this error and allow you to run the service: - Windows XP: Log on as Local System account

Windows Vista and Windows 7: Log on as the LocalService account. To be able to change the account, go to Browse-Advance-Findnow and click in LOCAL SERVICE. Then in this window as it showed delete the passwords when you have in the accoun LocalService and click Apply. Then you can try to start the service

3) Now that we know the windows time service is running we have to change or make sure that some parameters in the register are configured properly. Go to the registry running regedit.

The parameter list in the register for w32time can be found in the regedit as: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\W32Tim e
4) Place in the directory

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\W 32Time

5) Now, edit the following registry entries (If the following registries are

already as we said in the next steps, just leave as they are): HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\W 32Time\Config\AnnounceFlags Set the Announce Flags registry entry to 5, to indicate a reliable time source.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\W32Tim e\TimeProviders\NTPServer\Enabled Changing the Enabled flag to the value 1 enables the NTP Server.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\W32Tim e\Parameters\Type

Change the server type to NTP by specifying NTP in the Type registry entry.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\W32Tim e\Parameters\NTPserver Specify a list of peers from which the PC obtain time stamp. By default it should be set as time.windows.com,0x9

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\W32Tim e\Timeprovider/NTPClient/SpecialPollIntervall This parameter is not required to be able to synchronize, but it can be used to set the time you want the computer synchronize with the external server. As a default it makes synchronize every week 604800 (decimal), so we can set it every 15 minutes 900 (decimal).

After editing any of the registry entries for the windows time service, the service must be restarted for the settings to take effect. 6) Click Restart on the top of window to restart the services.

7) The last step is enabling the port 123 in the firewall. The firewall of the computer could be blocking the connection between clients and windows time server. Depending to the windows version you are using it can be one in a different way.

-Windows XP and Vista: In Exceptions enable the port as it shown in the screenshot

-Windows 7: Go to firewall settings. In the firewall

windows go to Advance setting in the left column, and you will the windows shown below. Here click in Inbound Rules on the left column and following on the right column click New rule.

In this new windows click in Rule Type (left column) and mark Port. Then click in Protocol an Ports and write the port 123 UDP. Then in Action and mark Allow the connection, and finally in Name and write Windows time.
