Jason Belmonte Wins Third 2011-12 Title In Pepsi PBA Elite Players Championship
By Bill Vint - PBA LAS VEGAS Australias Jason Belmonte won his third Professional Bowlers Association Tour title of the 2011-12 season, and the fourth of his career, when he defeated Mike DeVaney of Murrieta, Calif., 255238, to win the Pepsi PBA Elite Players Championship at South Point Casino and Hotel, the eighth and final event in the PBA World Series of Bowling. The victory tied Belmonte with PBA Hall of Famer Norm Duke for current season titles as the PBA Tour heads into its final event of the 2011-12 season, the PBA Tournament of Champions. Belmonte, whose only PBA Tour title prior to this season was in the 2009 Bowling Foundation Long PBA Photo Island Open, wrapped up a stunning PBA World Jason Belmonte caputres his fourth PBAtitle with the Series of Bowling performance with his Elite Players Elite Players Championship. By Vince Albrecht NORTH BRUNSWICK, NJ - North Jersey high school bowlers shared some of the NJSIAA center stage at the Tournament of Champions event held at Carolier. Park Ridge senior Dan Wuhrman became only the fourth bowler to score a perfect game in the T of C when he smashed his way to a 300-748 catapulting his way to the stepladder finals where he finished an impressive third. On the Girls side, Lyndhurst junior Lexus Lopez pounded out a 269-663 in round two to reach the stepladder finals. Her team finished third with 2,927 in the Group 1 T of C as senior teammate Paul Ulrich rolled 243 and went one better by stroking twelve of a possible fifteen tenth frame strikes in the five-game Baker format. Notable performances: Vince Siekierski 1274, Mark Frattarelli 1243 and Joe Malyack 1178. Others outside the top eighteen second round qualifiers were Gamar Virgin 630, Marc Solangon 613, Mike Carr 600, Austin Masser, Jr. 597 and Max Barnett 592. Among the girls: Lexus Lopez 1316 and Anastasia DeLeon 1194. Others shy of the cut included Colette Malyack 591, Belle Este Dante 567, Jesmarie Reyes 534 and Nyasia Williams 525.

13 PROPOSALS TO BE DECIDED AT 2012 USBC ANNUAL MEETING


By Jason Overstreet - USBC ARLINGTON, Texas - Delegates will vote on 13 proposals involving changes to United States Bowling Congress bylaws, league rules and tournament rules at the USBC Annual Meeting on April 27 in Arlington. The amendments include a series of changes to USBC bylaws called the Financial Freedom and Flexibility Proposals. The Financial Freedom and Flexibility Proposals will allow associations at all levels to better manage their financial future by removing dues cap restrictions from USBC bylaws. USBC will host a series of meetings around the country to discuss with delegates why the Financial Freedom and Flexibility Proposals will benefit USBC associations and the organization as a whole by embracing free-market principles that are the foundation for growing businesses. Of the 13 proposals, seven relate to changes to USBC bylaws, four refer to league rules and two to tournaments. Other proposals relating to USBC bylaws include: * Removing the provision allowing members who join in a summer league to receive next season's membership as well. * Removing the fiscal year from the bylaws. * Limiting the USBC President's term in office to a single, three-year term. Proposals relating to playing rules and tournaments include: * Allowing a league's board to adjust a player's average upward during the season with a two-thirds vote. * Require league games bowled in a playoff or special contest to count toward averages. * Require tournament bowlers to use the highest of either their composite average of all leagues, or the bowler's highest single league average of 21 games or more.
