Fukushima Vs Indonesia's Future Power Plant & Learning from Disaster Indonesia are going to build a power plant

to produce power. Many people opposed it, but the government adamant to keep going. Many people opposed it because the benefits of a power plant might be big, but the consequences when something happened are too big a risk to take, while Japan, the 'smartest' country in the field of technology and science failed to safeguard their own nuclear reactor during the March 11 tsunami disaster, how a developing country with limited disposal on the knowledge of nuclear powers can overcome if such disaster happaned?

Lesson plan - rare natural event (tsunami) cause the almost meltdown and the blow up of the power plant building at the Fukushima power plant. - Until now Fukushima still not available to visit. Only robots that could access the damage in the reactor and the reactor chamber, no human allowed because of the high radiation up to two years ahead. - in May 2011. German decided to stop their power plant, and decided to spend the money to spend on renewable energy research, Swiss and some other European countries decided to follow suit. - they will need 10 years to be able to be back to live near the power plant, now 20 km around the power plant is non-human zone, farms 20 km around the power plant abandoned, and 4 cm soil on every surface of a fertile land have to be removed to able plants to grow. - the disaster is because there is still no certainty on the level of the danger of the destruction of Fukushima power plant during the tsunami. Are the Fukushima leaking radiation to the sea and whether it is true that could reach as fas as Asia's countries seas that could be contaminated, are they true? Is the radiation disaster as bad or even worse as the Cernobyl? Whether the radiation on the Fukushima have been contained, or not? Is the Fukushima ever safe? etc. - the energy released by the brake of the tectonic plant (Japan lies on the center of the meeting of two tectonic plate) as big as 2 million times the Hiroshima atomic bomb. The energy released create shockwaves, that generate a tsunami, and 14 - 15 meter of high wave hit the Fukushima power plant and shut down the electricity, causing the water generator to stop supplying cooling water in the reactor, thus making the heat (the heat here used to generate electricity generators, thus electricity could be used,a nd as much as 30% of the country electricity need provided by various power plant

around the county and one of the is the ageing Fukushima power plant located at the coast of Fukushima Dai-Chi) cause by the atom reaction are not cooled down and the core (platinum and uranium cores) are kept reacting and thus keep heating causing the ever increasing of temperatures, that if not released could blow up the reactor, like it happened in the cernobyl. The blow up of the reactors can be prevented, but the reactor have stop working because of the cut out of the electicity, causing the heat up building in the reactor that cause the building where the reactor caused explode two days after, followed by the less-big two other explosion in the reactor building. The explosion was feared have released radiation in the air, in the soil, causing the evacuation as fas as 80 km, and 20 km around the power plant are human-inhabitable.

Focus of the lesson: practice discussion base on the facts available, and to discuss, should or should we not build our own power plant like the government had planned before.

Things to review for them first: - Atom and nuclear reaction. - how nuclear reaction produce power: - nuclear reaction (atomic reaction) in the reactor, help by the cooling water,
