CNX 100 tracks the behavior of combined portfolio of two indices viz.

S&P CNX Nifty and CNX Nifty Junior. It is a diversified 100 stock index accounting for 38 sectors of the economy. CNX 100 is owned and managed by India Index Services and Products Ltd. (IISL), which is a joint venture between the NSE and CRISIL. Methodology: CNX 100 is computed using free float market capitalization method wherein the level of the index reflects total free float market value of all the stocks in the index relative to a particular base market capitalization value. The method also takes into account constituent changes in the index and importantly corporate actions such as stock splits, rights, new issue of shares etc. without affecting the index value. The CNX 100 Index has a base date of Jan 1, 2003 and a base value of 1000. The maintenance of the S&P CNX Nifty and the CNX Nifty Junior are synchronized so that the two indices will always be disjoint sets i.e. a stock will never appear in both indices at the same time. Hence it is always meaningful to pool the S&P CNX Nifty and the CNX Nifty Junior into a composite 100 stocks index or portfolio. Market Representation: The CNX 100 Index represents about 76.22% of the free float market capitalization of the stocks listed on NSE as on Sept. 30, 2011. The traded value for the last six months of all CNX 100 constituents is approximately 75.37% of the traded value of all stocks listed on NSE. Selection Criteria: CNX 100 index would comprise of the securities which are constituents of S&P CNX Nifty and CNX Nifty Junior. In other words, this index is a combination of the S&P CNX Nifty and CNX Nifty Junior. Any changes i.e. inclusion and exclusion of securities in S&P CNX Nifty and CNX Nifty Junior would be automatically mirrored in this index. The review will be carried out on a semi-annual basis.
