Using the details from the novel that you have studied, write about three important lessons

you have learnt from the events in the novel.

The novel, The Pearl conveys several important lessons. The first important lesson is we should not be greedy. Second, we should not exploit the poor. Third, we should be honest. The first moral value is we should not be greedy. The example of a greedy person in the novel is the doctor. In the beginning of the story, the doctor refuses to treat Coyotito. He has been stung by a scorpion. The doctor knows Kino will not be able to pay him. To him, the natives or the little Indians are nothing more than animals. However, after the discovery of the Pearl of the World, the doctor suddenly becomes concerned about Coyotitos health. He even goes to Kinos brush house. He knows that Kino is able to pay him now. The second moral value is we should not exploit the poor. The priest is a good example of someone who exploits the poor. The priest suddenly becomes interested in Kino and his family after he discovers the Pearl of the World. He plans for the repair work that needs to be done to the church. The third moral value is we should be honest. The pearl buyers are a good example of people who are not being honest. When Kino shows him the pearl, the first pearl buyer tells him that the pearl is like fools gold. It is

too large. There is no market for such things. He lies about the pearl so that he can buy it with a low price.
