The

Opera

Stand

The Opera stand is unique. It was designed from the ground up as an illuminated music stand. The advantage this gives it is that every lamp is designed specifically to work with the music stand. The lamp is held at the right distance from the music tray, and yet is fully adjustable. The light output is carefully controlled so that it falls on the score and nowhere else. The cable is fully managed all the way down to the ground. Storage is provided for excess cable. And the weight, rigidity and centre of gravity of the music stand are matched to the requirements that a music stand light imposes. Super-tough black nylon coating makes the stand a pleasure to touch and, unlike other coatings, never chips. The solid base gives added stability. Rubber feet ensure 3-point contact on uneven surfaces whilst protecting your floor and preventing clatter. Opera stands nest, with or without lamps, for compact storage.

The special mounting socket enables the lamp to be easily removed in seconds.

The Opera stand is great for musicians - they can swing their legs without kicking the stem.

Storage hooks eliminate excess cable trailing around the floor.

The Opera stand trolley

Constant friction is maintained by powerful springs in the friction joints of the tray and lamp which means they stay automatically at whatever angle you place them - there are no knobs to fiddle with or lose, and they will never go slack. The Opera stand is available with a choice of trays: Classic, formed from welded steel rods and coated in nylon. ABS, formed from solid black polymer. Wood, formed in one piece from natural birch and stained to the colour of your choice (made to order and subject to a minimum quantity).

The

Opera

Lights

The Opera stand was designed from the ground up as an illuminated stand and the advantage this gives is that every opera stand lamp works specifically with the stand, and the cable is managed all the way down to the ground. We offer a range of fully adjustable lights to fit the Opera stand all of which are interchangeable with one another.

All Opera stand lights are interchangeable with one another and backward compatible with older Opera stands. Just slacken the Allen key at the back of the tray, remove the old light, and fit the new one. As an option, a thumb screw can be fitted to enable this to be done without the need for an Allen key.

The Twin HaloLight

Single HaloLight

The HaloLight is designed to throw the maximum amount of light on the score, with the least possible spillage. Uses a mains voltage 25W tungsten halogen bulb commonly available from RAT Music Stands and electrical stores. Precision curved reflector gives excellent illumination with little light spillage. Double insulated for safety. Very slim housing does not obstruct view of conductor. A coiled cable from the lamp to ground level enables the stand height to be adjusted without detaching the cable from its hook at the base of the stand. Straight cable from the base of the stand reaches a further 3m. Product code: 62Q1

No musician has ever said the Twin HaloClip Light is not bright enough, and yet the superb cut off ensures that the light falls on the music score and nowhere else. The slim housing allows the musician the best possible view of the conductor. The halogen bulbs produce white light and have a very long life. Uses two low voltage 10 or 20W tungsten halogen bulbs commonly available from RAT Music Stands and electrical stores. Low voltage bulbs give even better light control than the mains voltage bulbs, have a longer life and lower replacement costs. Externally dimmable electronic transformer is built into the housing. Precision curved reflectors and special light guide give excellent illumination with minimum light spillage Double insulated for safety. Very slim housing does not obstruct the musician's view of the conductor. A coiled cable from the lamp to ground level enables the stand height to be adjusted without detaching the cable from its hook at the base of the stand. The LEDlight

The best lamp on any music stand, anywhere! Six of the latest high powered LEDs give very bright and even illumination of the score with less light spillage than any other light we know of. The finger-slim aluminium housing allows the musician the best possible view of the conductor. Warm white LEDs with a colour temperature of 3000K provide light which is relaxing for the professional musician yet make for easy reading of yellowed scores, without the tiring effect of the more common cold white LEDs.

LEDs are virtually indestructible and never wear out, so you will never again have to change a bulb in the middle of a performance. Over the lifetime of the product lower electricity bills and the absence of bulb replacements costs will easily repay your initial investment in this state of the art music stand light. Available in mains powered or 24V versions. The mains voltage version plugs directly into the mains without the need for a power supply, and can be dimmed just like any ordinary incandescent light. Mains voltage version is double insulated for safety. Very slim housing does not obstruct the musician's view of the conductor. A coiled cable from the lamp to ground level enables the stand height to be adjusted without detaching the cable from its hook at the base of the stand. See below for connection and control options for the LEDlight range.

3m straight cable mains plug 120/230V All the mains voltage lights above (Single HaloLight, Twin HaloLight, Mains voltage LEDlight) can be plugged directly into the mains sockets in the venue, and dimmed by dimming the mains supply. Opera stand lights are fitted as standard with coiled cable reaching to floor level, and 3m of further straight cable terminating in a standard mains plug. Clip-on lights (page 22) are fitted with a total of 3m of straight cable terminating in a standard mains plug.

IEC Daisychaining System

As an option, any of these lights can be ordered with the IEC daisychaining system. It connects adjacent stands using standard IEC extension cables. The IEC junction box locks rigidly to the base of the stem, and is easily removed when the stand is required without the light. The hook at the base of the stem of the Opera stand helps to tidy the cables and locking IEC cables ensure that the plugs cannot be accidentally pulled out by tripping over the flex. Connection and control options for 24V LEDlights

The 24V LEDlight has the following advantages over the mains version: Inherent safety of a low voltage supply The great flexibility offered by a mixture of different power supplies; for example using battery power for outdoor events or on stage, and connected supply for the orchestra pit. It is possible to control each stand individually by DMX without having to have different electrical circuits. The 24V LEDlight is fitted with a coiled cable descending to ground level where it terminates in a 3 pin XLR plug. All of the following options are available for connecting and controlling 24V LEDlights.

1) If you already have a 24V supply

The 24V LEDlights can be connected directly to a 24V DC supply. Brightness of the light is fixed. Alternatively the DMX Radio Control System can be fitted to each light (see page 10) giving independent dimming control of every light.

2) If you want to connect to the mains supply

The

Radio DMX

system

The RAT Radio system enables various types of electrical device to be controlled from the lighting desk as though they were hard wired to it by DMX cables, but without the cables. One transmitter must be connected to the lighting desk; there is no limit to the number of devices that can be controlled from one transmitter, provided they are within range of it. Additional transmitters can be deployed to increase the range of radio coverage. The system operates at a fixed frequency within the 2.4GHz band. Within this band a choice of frequencies enables transmitters to be set at different frequencies from each other and from other equipment in the same venue.

Radio DMX Transmitter

Can be powered by its own built-in battery or from a supplied mains adaptor. Has two operating modes: Local and DMX Control. Local mode is ideal for use on location, or out of doors, where no lighting desk is available. All DMX channels are controlled according to the brightness knob on the transmitter, so no DMX input is required, and using the built in battery enables the transmitter to be totally cordless. DMX Control mode requires a DMX input signal, which is then broadcast in its entirety. All DMX Radio Receivers will then be controlled according to their set address. Product code: Radio DMX Transmitter 40Q21 Radio DMX Transmitter/Repeater 40Q22

Radio Controlled LEDlight

The RAT 24V LEDlight and LEDclip light can be fitted with built in RAT Radio receivers. This enables them to be individually controlled from the lighting desk exactly as if they were hard wired to it via a dimmer. Three position switch enables the radio control to be overridden to ON or OFF. Each stand can be given its own unique address or can share its address with any number of stands in a group. Radio control gives equispaced control of the light output from fully off to fully on in 255 steps. The battery condition monitor shows when the battery is nearly exhausted, and in this condition limits light brightness to 30% in order to extend the available working time of the battery. Product code: product code of light + RX 10

www.ratstands.com

Radio Controlled DC Socket

The Radio Controlled DC Socket comprises a compact and durable box fitted with a 3 pin XLR socket outlet and a trailing lead with a 3 pin XLR plug. When the plug is connected to any DC power supply (such as RATs standard 24V battery pack) the socket outlet becomes a radio controlled variable voltage socket. The effective voltage is determined by the DMX level set at the lighting desk and sent wirelessly via the Radio DMX Transmitter. The three position switch enables the radio control to be overridden to ON or OFF. Each pack can be given its own unique address or can share its address with any number of receivers in a group. The radio gives pulse width modulated control of the output from the socket in 255 steps from fully off to fully on. The battery condition monitor shows when the battery is nearly exhausted, and limits light brightness to 30% in order to extend the available working time of the battery. The standard voltage is 24V, but other voltage outputs can be made to order. Product code: 40Q11-24

DMX Radio Bridge receiver

The Radio DMX Bridge Receiver comprises a compact and durable box fitted with a 5 pin XLR socket. It reproduces at the socket whatever DMX signal is fed into the transmitter. It can therefore be used to control any device with a DMX input, without the need for a DMX cable linked to the lighting desk. The battery powered version is recharged by connecting to a plug top charger. Thus it has absolutely no other external connections just connect it to DMX input of the device you want to control The pass-through versions derive their power from the same supply as the device to be controlled. Trailing mains leads enable any style of plug and socket to be fitted. Available as standard with IEC plug and socket, (as shown) or UK plug and socket. Mains and low voltage versions are available. Stage3
Fast to put up, easy to use and quick to dismantle. Lots of staging claims to be fast, but we really do believe that you will not find any system that can be put up and taken down more easily and quickly than Stage3. See our separate brochure or visit www.ratstands.com for full details.

Very strong
The aluminium frame and diecast corners give it low weight and incredible strength.

Flexible and adaptable

Unlike other staging systems you can lock Stage3 tops together in almost any position, using a key operated from above the stage. No other staging system can do this. In addition to our standard metric and imperial sizes, we can make custom sized tops according to your exact requirements.

Speedlocks
Platforms are easily locked together by turning a key which is inserted into the top of the stage. There is no more scrabbling around underneath it. Turning the key levels the platforms and pulls them together in one continuous movement. When not in use the locks retract out of harms way.

Corner joints
Most staging systems have mitred joints at their corners, giving rise to dangerously sharp edges. Stage 3 has diecast corners which are strong, rounded and user friendly.

Legs
Stage 3 platforms use round legs, which are rigidly locked into position by a flick of the integral quick action lever. The legs are the same size as standard scaffold tube so if you are caught short one day, or need an odd length of leg, the material is commonly available.

Stage3
Handrails

accessories
Modular stairs
Single stair treads interlock to form a staircase of any height. The assembled staircase then clamps quickly to the edge of the platform, at any position around the periphery. Riser heights are individually adjustable so that every riser in a flight can be set equal. When dismantled, individual steps interlock for compact storage. Handrails are available separately.

The Speedlatch enables handrails to be fitted in seconds to any point around the outside of the stage. Outboard handrails have integral chair stops.

Chair stops
Speedlatches enable chair stops to be fitted in seconds to any section around the edge of a stage

Fixed stairs
Stairs with fixed numbers of treads are ideal for users who regularly set the staging at one given height. The foot of the staircase is adjustable to different stage heights within a range. Handrails are available separately.

Castors
Just remove the legs from a platform and replace them with castors to make a trolley which can support 14 more platforms.

Ramps
Ramp connectors enable any top to be made into a ramp, which can be connected to the stage at any point.

Leg Clamps
Leg clamps enable stages of unequal heights to be locked together.

Skirts
Skirts attach to the side of the staging system using hangers which lock into the T slot. When no skirting is required the hangers are removed so no unsightly Velcro remains.
