Getting Started

HEAT is easily installed using the HEAT Installation Wizard, a step-by-step guide for easy navigation. Simply follow the directions located below, and on the windows and dialog boxes. You can cancel the installation and exit the Wizard at any time. System requirements are listed below. You must install the HEAT evaluation version in accordance with these system requirements for it to operate successfully. Your existing system may meet the minimum requirements; however, for best performance additional requirements are recommended and noted.

Installing the HEAT Evaluation System

Important: In order to install the HEAT Evaluation System you must first have Microsoft Windows 2000, Windows Server 2003, or Windows XP operating successfully on your computer. The system should be a Pentium III or higher with a 733 1GHz processor, 512 1GB of RAM, 200 300MB of free disc space and include the .NET framework version 2.0 or higher.

To Install the HEAT Service & Support Evaluation System

The installation consists of (a) downloading and unzipping the evaluation, (b) executing the setup.exe. file, and (c) answering a few questions as described below. 1. Close all open applications on your computer. 2. Note: The HEAT Installation Wizard is NOT set up to auto run after you download the zip file. You must unzip the folder and double click on the setup.exe file to start the installation process. 3. When the Choose Installation Type window appears it will ask if you want to create an Administrators image, select No. 4. Click Next to proceed to the Software License Agreement. If you agree to the terms of this license agreement, check the acceptance box and also select the two check boxes beneath that statement. 5. In the Setup Type dialog box, select Custom (includes the Administration tools) and then click Next. 6. When the next dialog box appears, select Install to begin the installation. Then click Finish when the process is completed. Congratulations! You have now successfully installed the HEAT Evaluation on your computer.

Using HEAT for the First Time

To open HEAT Call Logging (The technicians main interface for logging and viewing support requests) go to your computers start menu and in the All Programs list select HEAT Call Logging. Additional modules that come standard with the out-of-the-box system are included in the list. To learn more about using these modules, please review the supporting documentation included with the download. Note: Do NOT use the Quick Start Wizard as this may erase all demo data. When you open HEAT Call Logging for the first time, you will be prompted to select a Data Source to use with HEAT. From the drop down, select HEAT Demo and then the login window should appear. On the login window your user name is Admin (no password required).
