How to do the Running Man dance

Introduction
Today, you will learn how to do the Running Man move which is a basic hiphop shuffling dance popularized by LMFAO in their music video Party Rock Anthem in the summer of 2011. The shuffling dance was created in the late 1980s in the underground rave music scene in Melbourne, Australia and was called the Melbourne Shuffle dance. The basic movements of the dance create the illusion of the dancer running in place which is often suitable for various types of electronic music. In the introduction set today, we will be focusing on the very basic dance move of the shuffling dance called the Running Man. The steps are very simple and easy to learn, after you master it, you can add other moves into the running man and combine in it to an awesome dance move to show off to friends and family.

Items Needs

Pair of Athletic Shoes

Comfortable jeans, sweatpants, or shorts Stereo or music player

T-shirt or long sleeved shirt

Procedures
PART 1: FOOT MOVEMENTS
In this part, you will learn the footwork of the Running Man dance. The steps listed below are in sequential order of how your feet should move when performing this dance. Front view Step1 Plant both feet together on the ground and stand up straight Side view

Step2 Lift right leg up

Step3 Slide your left foot backwards

Step4 While sliding your left foot backwards, step your right foot down on the floor and lean forward at a 60 degree angle while putting weight on your right leg

Step5 Slide your right backwards towards the center of your body and lift left leg up simultaneously

Step6 While sliding your right foot backwards, step your left foot down on the floor and lean forward at a 60 degree angle while putting weight on your left leg

Step7 Slide your left backwards towards the center of your body and lift right leg up simultaneously just as we did for Step 2 and repeat from Step 2 to Step 7. Now your footwork resembles the Running Man

PART II: ARM MOVEMENTS


In this part you will know incorporate the arm movements along with the footwork of the Running Man from steps 1-7 in PART 1. The final steps below will complete the shuffling dance. Front view Step1 Fully extend your arms in front of your chest while clenching your fists. Side view

Note: Perform this step whenever you raise your knee in front of you.

Step2 Pull in your both arms and bend elbow inward to the sides.

Note: Perform this step whenever you step with the foot in front of you.

Conclusion
Congratulations! You are now ready to perform the Running Man at parties, weddings, banquets, or just in front of the mirror in the comfort of your home. The key to learning how to do the Running Man is PRACTICE. Do not be discouraged if you do not get it right the first time. Best of luck!
