Gender: Gender refers to the roles and responsibilities of women and men that are created in our families

or society and our culture.

Sex: It refers to the biological characteristics that define humans as female or male. Sex is a biological difference between men and women. Sex is determined at birth.

Women and mens similarities and differences are recognized and equally valued. Men and women enjoy equal status, recognition and consideration. Equal conditions to realize their full potential and ambitions. Equal opportunities to participate in, contribute to, and benefit from societys resources and development. Equal freedoms and quality of life. Equal outcomes in all aspects of life

Gender Equity: Equity means fairness and justice in the distribution of benefits and responsibilities. Gender equity means Fairness of

treatment for women and men, according to their respective needs.

Gender Disparity or GAP: A specific difference or inequalities between girls and boys, or men and women in relation to their conditions, or how they access or benefit from recourses (e.g. Mens and womens access to health services, school dropout relates of girls and boys).

Gender Blind: Unaware of gender concepts and the impact that they have on life experiences and outcomes for girls and boys, men and women.

Gender Sensitivity: Gender sensitivity is considered the initial stage of gender awareness. It reflects gender disparities arising from different kind of inequalities.

Gender Study:

It is a field of interdisciplinary study, which analyzes the phenomenon of gender. Gender study focuses on both genders and their relations to each others.

Gender Discrimination: The systematic, unfavorable treatment of individuals on the basis of their gender, which denies them rights, opportunities or resources

Indicators: Indicators are used to measure output and outcomes results. Indicators are pointers, measurement, a number, a fact, an opinion or to perception that helps measure the progress towards achieving expected results.

Gender Sensitive Indicators: Gender sensitive indicators capture the gender related aspects of progress towards achieving results. These indicators can be developed by disaggregating existing gender blind indicator as well as adding indicators that capture outputs and outcomes that are especially important from gender perspective.

Gender Equality: Gender equality denotes women having the same opportunity in life as men, including the ability to participate in the public sphere

Gender Lens: Think of gender lens as putting on spectacles, out of one lens of the spectacles you see the participation, needs, and realities of women. Out of the other lens, you see the participation, needs and realities of men. Your sight or vision is the combination of each eye sees.
