Chanell Perry HR 587: Managing Organizional Change Vision Change Analysis

Introduction Vision is needed if you want to have a chance of achieving successful organizational change (Leadership, 2009). Its important for organizations to have an idea of the direction and paths they are hoping to travel upon. Successful leadership teams share a single vision for the organization. To truly function as a team, each member must consistently focus in the same direction; they must believe in and fully support the vision they share. Business visions are realistic, credible and attractive to people within the organization. A vision statement defines the organizations purpose through the organizations values. This paper will analysis the importance of developing a vision that is in line with what an organization represents and the image that is portrayed.

Statements Starbucks has now being in business for well over 35 years and their vision is to inspire and nurture the human spirit one person, one cup and one neighborhood at a time (Starbucks, 2011). By the vision and mission of the company its clear that the primary focus is on their customers, quality and community. Starbucks history began in Seattle, Washingtons Pike Place Market in 1971. In the beginning they only sold whole coffee beans, but eventually the company grew as their customers evolved. Now Starbucks has coffee shops worldwide offering a variety of coffees, teas, pastries, and souvenirs. The company has an extremely loyal customers, the challenge has become to continue to use stay true to their values while maintaining growth.

The mission, vision, and values will help Starbucks reach end state goals in many forms. The company has implemented these standards and principles because these will help position the company and meet its desired objectives. The executive team has made many strides and placed a lot of effort to introduce significant values and ethical principles into the organizations culture. Starbucks is also well known for its reduce, reuse, and recycle waste program that helps keep the environment clean; this is evidence that they put action to their works. Materials used to hold utensils for the drinks have 100% recycled holding them together (Starbucks, 2011). The textbook describes this as beyond the bumper sticker vision and its clear that Starbucks has set it in motion to make this a part of their culture. They are customer focused as well, not all of Starbuck loyal drinkers in enjoy coffee; however, this isnt all they want to be known for. The company is also dedicated to community, being a global company this can pose as a challenge; however, theyve shown commitment to helping neighborhoods thrive wherever we do business. Its a commitment rooted deep in our heritage and the belief that we can use our scale to be a catalyst for positive change. In April 2011, Starbucks invited their employees and customers worldwide to volunteer and make changes needed to the community (Starbucks, 2012).This shows visual attribution because their goals and visions paints the picture for who they are and what they stand for and it shows a faculatior approach. When a company has employees on board it shows that they were a part of the development of the plan; therefore, they will be more inclined to be in accordance with it (Leadership, 2009).

Starbucks is a company that was a company that led the way in innovating coffee, as well as their initiative with people and community, and that remains true to their core. It essential for the values to give a great representation to what the company cares about and for their stakeholders to be a major factor in what they do. When organizations develop a vision it is

important for it to correlate with changes that they are implementing and to stay current, the green movement for a company that is global shows that they care. The article Leadership, Vision and Communication (2009) describes change is the most overused statement, but its the least understood language. Being able to provide action to their values will overall help them achieve their goals.
