Report On Pratham (Chandigarh)

Center 1:- Kharar


Observations: Day 1 few volunteers were absent due to their assumption of holiday. Meeting was being conducted by PDC and full hand information was being given to the volunteers. Few volunteers were shy to answer and learn things. Collection of data related to basic test and mid test from the volunteers and same was being entered into the systems. Target of completing the present batch by 31st Jan. More number of female volunteers. Few PBC not on time. Work of kharar district was not satisfactory as per ropar PDC. Tricks are used in order to make the things very clear and easy to the students and same were being discussed. Need to ensure the things taught are delivered well and retained by the coordinators. Few volunteers were found very dedicated towards their work.

Other information: Volunteers were metric, graduates and few were post graduate too. PTR ratio 1:30.

In case of BEP programme one best and one worst school is selected. Extra volunteer is given per school in BEP programme. 95 schools, 8 PBC, 22 PCC, 35 volunteers. Different reasons to join pratham are: Willing to teach children. Increase their knowledge. Helping others to upgrade their knowledge. To indulge in some work instead of sitting ideal.

Center 2:- Ropar


Two English modules were finished. Day 1 of visit English class was being conducted. At the same time coordinators were feeding data in the systems. 58 CMS(cluster model schools) were there in the district. Few Volunteers were very well interested in joining and learning and at the same time few did enroll themselves but did not turn up. In order to ensure the learning part stories were made. Volunteers were happy to learn things specially related to computers. Few volunteers did not continue to come as they were enrolled in some other courses and so due to lack of time could not come to the schools. Ghanauli village school was visited were more number of weak students were found. Level of

the students was very low. Students were not even aware of the actual meaning of the things which they were speaking.

Center 3:- Nawashehar


9 PBC, 22 PCC, 269 SCHOOLS On day1 revision was being taken. Coordinators told that earlier teachers were not even aware of the fact that were does their students stand i.e at which level but due to the help of the ngo a lot of improvement has been seen. Faculty and coordinators were satisfied and happy to work their. PDC was very supportive. In this district maximum number of students were there in ralhmajra. In absence of ngo, earlier teachers were not so responsible and were not so active.

Volunteers at times sit for extra time for betterment and few of them were being paid some amount as per the wish of the govt teachers. Volunteers observed that the level of education has been increased due to PRATHAM. Pratham has also lead to the motivation of the students and joined for higher education.
