TOXICOLOGICAL INFORMATION

ACUTE ORAL TOXICITY

LD50 oral, rat = > 5000 mg/kg

Due to the fact that solid calcium carbonate is a natural mineral of the surface of the earth and that dissolved calcium carbonate is a natural and indispensable component of natural waters, chronic toxic effects as well as sensitizing effects of the substance can practically be excluded. 12. ECOLOGICAL INFORMATION

In its solid state, calcium carbonate is a natural mineral of the earth. In its dissolved state, the substance is a natural and indispensable component of natural waters. Therefore, unfavourable effects to the environment may be excluded. Calcium carbonate cannot biodegrade. Restrictions may be indicated that concentrated suspensions of calcium carbonate in natural waters may have an unfavourable effect on water organisms (disturbance of the microflora and -fauna in the sediment and subsequent detriment to the existence of higher water organisms). LC50 Fish 96 h > 10'000 mg/l LC50 Daphnia 49 h > 1000 mg/l LC50 Algae 72 h > 200 mg/l 13. DISPOSAL CONSIDERATION

Disposal in a licensed landfill site is possible. For disposal recommendation consult manufacturer. 14. TRANSPORT INFORMATION -------------
