1. Cutting The mat should be cut cleanly using a sharp knife and in the case of Rhinoflam, tin snips is also required to cut the wire. First cut and remove the wire then cut the fibre with a knife. 2. Storage The rolls should be left in the pack until required and should ideally be stored under cover. If stored on site, rolls should be raised off the ground and covered completely with waterproof sheeting. The polythene packaging provides protection only against short-term and accidental exposure. 3. Fixing The insulation should be cut to size and suspended within the partition so that it makes contact with the metal studs, the floor and ceiling channels.
The insulation should be continuously supported within the wall using the methods shown opposite.

2. TERMINOLOGY
The following definitions are used in this document. Accessories: Metal or plastic corner beads, trim or mouldings used to protect or conceal corners, edges or abutments. Critical Lighting: Strong side lighting from windows, surface mounted lights or downlighters. Oil Based Plaster Primer: A paint formulated to stabilize and equalize the suction difference between Rhinoboard surface paper and the RhinoGlide compound used to finish joints angles, screw heads and accessories. To be used on drywall prior to decoration. Skim coat: A thin coat of plaster over the entire wall surface to fill any imperfections in the joint work, smooth the paper texture, and provide a completely uniform finishing surface. A skim coat of RhinoLite can be used as an alternative to jointing. Spotting: To cover screw heads with jointing compound.
4. COMMENTS
Wall and ceiling areas abutting window mullions or skylights, long hallways, or atriums with large surface areas flooded with artificial or natural light are a few examples of critical lighting. Critical lighting (especially side-lighting) may reveal even minor surface imperfections. Light striking the surface obliquely, at a very slight angle, greatly exaggerates surface irregularities. If critical lighting can not be avoided, the effects can be minimized by skim coating the entire wall or by decorating the surface with medium or heavy textures (paint or vinyls). The use of drapes and/or blinds can also be used to soften shadows. It is also important to remember that during the construction phase of a building the lighting is often not fully functional and the appearance of the drywall could vary considerably once this is switched on. In general smooth non-textured finishes highlight surface defects and textures help to hide minor imperfections. NOTE: All Drywall partition systems should be 100% finished by the Drywall installer. It should not be left up to contractor applying the final decoration to rectify and surface blemishes or marks. All joints should be completely finished.
3. LEVEL OF FINISH
The following levels of finish are proposed as a guide for specific final decoration. Each level will be illustrated with an example. LEVEL 1 No jointing or finishing at all. This level of finish may be useful in temporary constructions. LEVEL 2 All joints shall have the Rhinotape embedded in RhinoGlide jointing compound. Surface shall be free of excess jointing compound but tool marks and ridges are acceptable. Frequently used in plenum areas above ceilings and in areas that are generally concealed. LEVEL 3 All joints, angles and accessories shall have one coat of RhinoGlide jointing compound applied. All screw heads to be spotted. Surface shall be free of excess jointing compound but tool marks and ridges are acceptable. This finish is suitable where moisture resistant board is used as a substrate for tiling and may be used in garages or warehouse storage where surface appearance is not of primary importance.

RhinoFlam/Insulmatt
DESCRIPTION
Resin bonded mineral fibre blanket stitched with galvanised wire.
APPLICATION
Acoustic and fire infill for drywall systems. Operating Temperature Can be used at continuous operating temperatures of up to 850oC. Fire Performance Non-combustible - Conforms to SABS 0177 Part V. Class 1 Fire Index - Conforms to SABS 0177 Part III. Permanence Rot-proof, odourless, does not sustain vermin and will not encourage the growth of fungi, mould or bacteria. Will not settle under vibration and is dimensionally stable under varying conditions of temperature and humidity. Acoustic Performance Will provide effective acoustical insulation where there is a need to reduce noise levels in drywall or to absorb sound in other applications. Actual performance varies with thickness. Chloride Content Contains inherently low levels of water-leachable chlorides, typically 2ppm (max 5ppm) and thus will neither cause nor promote corrosion.

PERFORMANCE
Effects of temperature The boards are not suitable for use in temperatures above 49oC, but can be subjected to freezing temperatures without risk of damage. When tests in accordance with SABS 266 : 1982, the MR Rhinoboard absorbed less than 5% of water by weight in the total immersion test. Thermal properties K = 0.25 W/m oC R = 0.05m K/W MR Rhinoboard will give similar performance to a standard board when tested for fire rating or sound insulation.

IMPROVEMENT THROUGH PRODUCTS
The UltraSTEEL metal studs and channels were first introduced by British Gypsum in March 1993. From the very start it was clear that the commitment to innovation and quality has produced yet another success story. In fact, so enthusiastic was the response world wide that as the market leader are now utilising the technology in its manufacturing process of drywall systems. Exhaustive tests by the South African Bureau of Standards (SABS) has proven that drywall Systems surpass all national building regulations and requirements which means a partition designer can specify the correct UltraSTEEL drywall system with total confidence in its superior capabilities. UltraSTEEL Drywalling
UltraSTEEL drywalling is a non-load bearing interior walling system consisting of single or multiple layers of Rhinoboard which are screwed onto either side of the patented UltraSTEEL cold rolled galvanised steel sections. The tapered edged Rhinoboard is then flush jointed to give a monolithic surface ready to receive decoration. All GypWall drywalling systems components are manufactured under the SABS ISO 9002 quality management system. As the market leader, Gyproc and DONN is at the forefront of developing superior, cost effective solutions for further applications. You only have to take a closer look at our range of high performance systems to discover just how true this is. Note: Under a Patent know-how license granted from Hadley Industries Ltd, United Kingdom, drywall stud and track products are produced using their patented UltraSTEEL process.

Designed primarily for use with vinyl clad or fabric covered Rhinoboard panels, and produces a line joint between panels. It provides a low cost, high quality, partition system that is competitive with other conventional wall systems, even on a firstcost basis. In addition, the elimination of taping, bedding and painting, reduces construction time and site labour. The system allows for non-destructive cavity access and complete movability with virtually 100% re-use of material. Another factor to be considered is reduced maintenance. The vinyl clad surface of Partition resists scuffing and fading and requires only an occasional wash down to retain its original beauty. The Partition System is manufactured in compliance with the requirements of SABS ISO 9002 quality systems. Advantages of the System Low initial cost Ease of installation Low maintenance Ease of relocation Re-use of materials 100% accessible Tax benefits Service cavity High Tech Studio / Vinyl Covered

PARTITION SYSTEM
Dimensions and Mass Available in heights up to 3600mm and in modules 600mm, 750mm and 1200mm wide. At a partition height of 2,7 metre, the mass per linear metre is approximately 73kg. (For heights exceeding 3600mm consult your nearest Gyproc, LBS or DONN office. Finishing All exposed trims for angles, doorframes, glazing and skirting are of aluminium finish in either anodised colour natural, black, mill or painted finish. The panels used are 12,5mm thick Rhinoboard and covered with DonnClad paper backed vinyls or DONN fabric. Assembly The installation of the Partition starts with the fixing of ceiling, wall and floor tracks by means of shots, screws or self adhesive tape. Vertical studs are then clipped into position using the extension clips. The vertical centres of these studs vary as required up to a max of 750mm and are positioned by means of horizontal spacer channels. For modules in excess of the 750mm an additional stud shall be installed at the midpoint of the module to provide additional rigidity. The aluminium sections are clipped onto the studs in both horizontal and vertical directions.
