From our initial discussions, through to completion of the site installation works, I was very impressed
KM56488 BSEN15312

Goal! An evocative word. For some it prompts vivid images of our national sport, of the FA Cup final, Wembley, our team winning and the roar of the crowd. For others the word means a direction, a purpose, an achievement and a measure of success. Recognising the need to stir all of these aspirations within young people in their community, Steelway Fensecure pioneered the development of this design of a Multi Use Games Area goal over 15 years ago.
Based in the West Midlands, Steelway Fensecure constructs Multi Use Games Areas throughout the UK and overseas, that have free unrestricted, unsupervised access. We realised that our product had to be tough and highly resilient to meet and survive the challenges of ball court users. In setting that goal for ourselves, we can now look back with a sense of achievement in the knowledge that we have set a benchmark of quality and durability, which has become the standard for the Multisport industry. Looking to the future we recognise that our customers want choice and the opportunity to select the types of goals that suit their requirements. We offer you a variety of goals including 5-A-Side, junior football and hockey, with or without basket ball goals, cricket stumps and escape routes. Complying to the correct British and European Standard of BSEN 15312 is important to us and should be to you. It is your only assurance that you are providing facilities which are safe and fully meet stringent performance, structural and design test requirements. Within the parameters of that standard we try to accommodate design changes to meet individual preferences.

GOALS
FLAT BACK
Today designers are encouraged to be all inclusive in their playground and multisport designs. Whilst all our multisport systems offer entrances for wheelchairs, this goal style permits wheelchair access through the goal mouth itself. Goal 2.0m high with rear offset panel 4.4m wide with a 1.2m wide gap either side.

This original design of goal mouth continues to be popular. When a ball strikes the back of the goal the ball is directed downwards back into the court. The curved roof avoids it being used as a platform. This style is available with or without escape routes. Goal mouth 3.0m wide x 2.0m high x 900mm deep

INFILL GOAL
On proposed sites where you have limited space or a limited budget then this style could be just the answer. Instead of a recessed goal mouth it offers a flat goal target which can be further emphasized with the inclusion of a white crossbar and goal posts.

SQUARE BACK
The square or rectangular goal recess footprint maybe more appropriate in certain settings or may just suit the preference of the individual designer. It can easily be adapted to include a lockable pedestrian gate. Goal mouth 3.0m wide x 2.0m high x 900mm deep

V BACK
This more modern style retains many of the original goal design features but may suit the restricted budget, as less work goes into the standard rear goal panels. It is also available with or without escape routes. Goal mouth 3.0m wide x 2.0m high x 900mm deep

5-A-SIDE GOAL
Featuring a goal mouth of 1.2m high by 5.0m wide for adult 5ASide. If you are looking to encourage adults back into the park for a game of competitive footy with local youths then this could be the style for you. Often used with square section fence posts to give a True Ball Rebound for the more discerning player.

VERTICAL BAR GOAL

This exciting style offers our clients an alternative and very different visual affect. If you want to develop an integrated recreational area utilising some of the more futuristic playground equipment available today, then this style of goal and matching fencing may better compliment your design. Goal mouth 3.0m wide x 2.0m high x 900mm deep

A great success and one that has gone down very well with the local community.
KM56488 BSEN15312

Choosing the correct fencing for a Multi Use Games Area can be confusing and quite often the right specification may be overlooked. Deciding the right height and specification can make a real difference to the success of your project.
At Steelway Fensecure Ltd we understand that budget is often the driving factor in any project. As such we are quite specific with our clients that during the planning stages of project specification the right balance of price to specification ratio is achieved. Rectifying poor specification or insufficient fence height several months/years later can prove costly in the long term life of your Multi Use Games Area. We have, through careful research and engineering knowledge, developed the optimum specification in our Rebound fencing. Due to the compact size of the Rebound mesh, the overall strength is much greater than standard Weldmesh or larger mesh systems. In addition our Rebound fencing offers a better ball rebound action and combines security with aesthetics appeal. Providing a sufficiently durable yet attractive fencing system that will last for many years, without the costs of continuous repair, is often less expensive than systems with lower initial outlay. Where the budget does not allow for the best specification we offer an alternative range of sports fencing systems. For full details please contact our sales department.

FENCING
TRANSITIONAL PANELS
Transitional panels are designed to make stepping down in height look good. Transitional panels can be incorporated into all heights of fencing for full flexibility.

CURVED CORNERS
Curved corners have many advantages, not least when it comes to clearing up litter, fallen leaves and other debris. They are also far more user friendly in a game situation especially when two opposing players are trying to take control of the ball.

ROUND POSTS
Our fencing is supplied with 88.9mm CHS posts as standard increasing in size to 114.5mm CHS on heights of 4.0m and 5.0m high fencing and 168.3mm on 6.0m high. Round posts due to their shape have no sharp angles minimising injury and damage to clothing

SQUARE POSTS
For court areas where users want a higher quality of play and are playing off the fence then a True Ball Rebound is required. Our fencing posts can be changed to 100mm SHS square posts so that the Rebound panels sit flush with the post. For goal posts we recommend our standard round posts for safety.

CRANKED TOPS
Whilst the general wish is for unlimited open space, the truth is that often good quality open spaces are few and far between. When the area surrounding a multi use games area is built up and the external environment dictates the need for the fencing to both contain the ball and act as a security fence, Steelway Fensecure Rebound fencing can incorporate cranked extension arms to make climbing that much more difficult.

ACOUSTIC TESTING
In August 2000 we appointed an independent consulting engineer who conducted an on site acoustic test on one of our installed Multi Use Games Areas. The results indicated that so called Acoustic Dampers were un-necessary and largely ineffective. Their advice concentrated on ensuring that the fittings stayed tight. Steelway have now incorporated their advice into our design process and now use a special locking mechanism, which reduces the risk of fittings coming loose. This area of research and development has provided us with an accurate insight into how acoustically friendly our Multi Use Games Areas are. More information is available on application.

The MUGA you installed has surpassed our expectations on durability and functionality and has proven to be a great success
As with all enclosed games areas careful consideration should be given to the type of entrance and exit points that would best suit your new Multi Use Games Area.
KM56488 BSEN15312

Easy access and exit to would be players is essential and whether you require open access or a gate the opening should be wide enough to permit wheelchair users to pass easily. A gap of 1.2m is commonly considered to be adequate.
Whilst many youngsters can enjoy a ball game and each others company, occasionally there are problems associated with intimidation and bullying, so escape routes through a second exit on the far side of the court and/or through the goals is generally recommended. Steelway Fensecure have extensive experience of working with different groups and we recognise the varying preferences of facility providers. As such we offer a wide choice of entrances and can offer advice as to which system would best suit your environment.

BUY BRITISH
You can be assured that you are buying a quality product manufactured in Britain. All components used are sourced within the UK. This means you are taking advantage of the wealth of engineering skill which Britain is famous for and by doing this you have complete control over all aspects of your project. In addition our Multisport equipment carries a BSI Kitemark to BS EN 15312, licence no. KM56488. The BSI Kitemark is one of the most respected certification and quality mark in the world.

ENTRANCES

OFF-SET PANEL CHICANE ENTRANCES

The most popular of all entrances, chicane entrances offer unrestricted access without any moving parts to avoid injury or damage to clothing.

Lockable off-set entrances offer the facility manager complete peace of mind. Installed in conjunction with an off-set panel it allows for the proper management of access to and from the facility. The gate can be either locked open giving free and unhindered access or locked closed, reducing the opportunity of vandalism to the gate leaf and access to the court during the night.

ARCHWAYS
Archways in Multi Use Games Areas provide the ideal opportunity for advertising a range of messages. They can be used for signage and sponsorship or provide an opportunity to give recognition to local support groups, businesses or individuals who have helped raise funds for a local project.

LOCKABLE SINGLE OR DOUBLE GATES

Our single and double gates are both robust and durable and built to withstand the demanding challenges of their environment. Available in a range of sizes from 3.0m upwards on double leaf gates and supplied as 1.2m wide clear opening for pedestrian access. All gates are supplied with slide bar and padlock as standard. Other types of locks are available on request.

GOAL EXITS
Escape holes through goals offer easy exit routes for children who feel intimidated by others. We supply a range of different types and offer advice as to which would best suit your chosen location. With this option you may wish to consider Animal Grids to prevent unwanted dogs entering the area.

It maybe a coincidence but there has been a marked reduction in vandalism in the area since installing these meeting shelters.
Teenagers enjoy meeting in groups, whether it is congregating near shops, bus shelters, on childrens playgrounds or playing ball games on the road or nearby to houses and cars. Unfortunately it is a sight that often provokes negative thoughts from the local community.
Young people need to be able to go outside and meet and socialise in a safe environment. Local authorities and planners need to provide the space and facilities to allow teenagers to integrate into their communities. Steelway have worked to develop products that help to facilitate this need. Our Youth Shelter offers a heavy duty vandal resistant place for young people to meet. The shelter is designed in segment form that allows for a minimum seating area for 6 youths (2 segments) up to a seating area for 18 youths (6 segments) to suit any size of budget or space. The shelters are ideal for location alongside a multi use games area or a local community area, school, park, public open space and even outside places of work. The shelters are available with a table to create areas for people to do homework, read and eat their lunch and features a roof cover that provides shade from the sun and partial protection from the rain. The heavy duty grid panels provide optimum visibility to deter unsociable behaviour and the seats are durable but comfortable for people of any age group.

Society is responsible for ensuring that all children have the opportunity to engage in age appropriate play and recreational activities.
Children need a safe and welcoming environment in which to play and interact with their friends. In parks and open spaces it is important that where equipment is provided it is of a standard and variety that attracts a wide range of age groups and abilities. Taking part in a sporting activity is not just about developing skills but also about maintaining a healthy lifestyle. In order to combat the increasing levels of obesity in young people medical experts are advising that children and young people need to do at least 60 minutes of physical activity every day. Providing outdoor sport equipment at a local park or open space helps to provide local communities with an economical way of exercising and socializing for everyone. We have created a collection of products that offer a choice of sporting activities that benefit all age groups.

Panna is a new sport introduced into the UK by Steelway Fensecure. Panna originates from Surinam a former Dutch colony in South America and is a purely foot skilled football game in a low fenced off court, typically 5.9m wide x 8.8m long with opposing goals. It is played at low level, involves purely footwork with no long passes. It can be played one on one or two on two with the object being to score the most goals in 5 minutes. Players can score an instant win if they manage to Nutmeg their opponent by scoring a goal through their opponents legs. The introduction of Panna to the UK has received an overwhelming response from our customers and has proved a success with court users. To deliver this we provide you with:

ASSISTANCE WITH FUNDING, DESIGN AND PLANNING.

We understand that planning a Multi Use Games Area, understanding where to find funding and knowing what kind of equipment to provide can be a minefield if you have never done this type of project before. We will provide you with advice on what to specify, Q50 specifications, planning drawings and guidance on where to obtain funding for your project.

FREE SITE SURVEYS

To make the fence fit the plan and profile of the site we deliver a professional service by sending out a surveyor to gather the full site information. We also avoid damaging the protective and decorative finish that you have paid good money for. Simply, this extra care means that you get a better finished project.

LAYOUT DRAWINGS
The information provided by our surveyor is passed through to our highly equipped drawing office. Your project will be drawn up by one of our fourteen experienced computer aided design operators to produce detail elevations and layout drawings for your approval before any fabrication work begins.

MANUFACTURE
Once we receive your approval, copies of these drawings and component parts lists are sent through to our production office for processing. If you want to track the progress of your order, then by contacting us, quoting the job number given on your acknowledgement of order, we can easily provide the information you require.

We use hot dip galvanizing as a minimum which can be recycled and because it extends the life of our products, it reduces the need for maintenance and replacements. This means less landfill. Our polyester powder coating uses non-toxic powder (not that we recommend you lick the panels even if they do look good enough to eat) and has low solvent consumption. So with less pollution entering the atmosphere that ozone layer is going to last a lot longer.
