ABOUT LAST NIGHT...: For the second time in a week, Senators LHP Danny Rosenbaum (3-0) stifled and mystified the Curve as he combined with Patrick McCoy and Hector Nelo on an, 8-0, shutout of the Curve on Wednesday night at Peoples Natural Gas Field. Just like last week in Harrisburg, Rosenbaum was a groundball-inducing machine, getting the Curve to ground into 15 outs during his seven innings of work. Altoona was held hitless from the fourth through the seventh before pinch hitter Greg Picart broke through with a hit to start the eighth off McCoy. Curve starter Nathan Baker (2-2) gave up two runs (one earned) in the second and then settled in before hitting a wall in the sixth when the Senators scored five times off the left-hander. He was saddled with his second loss of the year after starting 2-0 and both of his losses have come at the hands of the Senators. Matt Curry had a double in his last at bat to extend his hitting streak to seven games and his games with a double streak to six. The Curve bullpen combined to allow just one run on 4 hits across 3.2 innings in relief of Baker. CURVE/HARRISBURG SERIES: In a virtual repeat of the teams last road trip, Altoona now welcomes the Harrisburg Senators (AA - Nationals) to town for a three-game set Tuesday through Thursday. Harrisburg took the series last week at Metro Bank Park, 2-1, but trails in the all-time series at 136-112. With a win on Wednesday night at Peoples Natural Gas Field, the Senators secured a series win in this series as well. FOR ALTOONA: RHP Brandon Cumpton takes to the hill for Altoona in the series finale with the Senators on Thursday night and is looking to pick up his second win of the season. Last time out, Cumpton turned in his second quality start of the year, dealing six innings of two-run ball to Richmond back on April 19th. In fact, over his last two outings, the Georgia Tech product has thrown a combined 17.0 innings and allowed a total of three runs on 11 hits with seven strikeouts and a pair of walks. This will be his first go-around versus Harrisburg this season and its nearly a year to the day since he faced his last Washington Nationals affiliate back on April 25, 2011. As a member of the West Virginia Power, Cumpton pitched three shutout innings and struck out three in a relief outing against Hagerstown at the Appalachian Power Park. For more on Cumpton, see page two. FOR HARRISBURG: The Curve will get their first look at RHP Rob Gilliam on Thursday night in the finale as hell try to lead the Senators to a series sweep. Gilliam, 24, will be making his fifth start of the season for the Senators and is looking for his first win since April 10th when he defeated New Britain at New Britain Stadium. Opponents in the Eastern League have hit Gilliam well so far, combining to hit .291 off the North Carolina native. The righty was a member of the Oakland Athletics organization up until this past offseason when he was traded along with Gio Gonzalez to the Nationals in exchange for Brad Peacock, A.J. Cole, Tom Milone and Derek Norris.
