MISSION STATEMENT Improve life conditions in underdeveloped earth areas enhancing communications, observation and forecasting capabilities for

scientific and human-support purpose. Achieve this mission developing innovative and low-cost systems suitable for open access during their entire life-cycle MAIN OBJECTIVES Design of a new generation of weather forecast and observation systems. Collect and distribute scientific data on the earths atmosphere and its geological structure. Improve communication systems in targeted areas.

MISSION REQUIREMENTS The minimum mission duration SHALL be TBD Simple but valuable technology SHALL be developed and tested into orbit environment The mission starting date SHALL be 15/05/2015 The number of satellites involved SHALL be increased in case of fully success The geographical area covered SHALL be enlarged in case of fully success New scientific objectives (more variegated forecasting and new functionalities) SHALL be developed and introduced in case of fully success The mission SHALL be implemented in a low cost mood As regard the low cost focus of mission, the satellites orbit SHALL be LEO (low earth orbit) As regard the low cost focus of mission, the ground segment SHALL be exploited by the radioamateurs community and its facilities As regard the low cost focus of mission, an experimental or sponsored launch opportunity SHALL be evaluated As regard the low cost focus of mission, a modular architecture of satellites SHALL be considered and eventually developed As regard the low cost focus of mission, satellite subsystems and components SHALL be designed as capable of a multi-function activity (e.g. sensors able to sense physical quantities useful for determine a wide range of aspects) When fully operative, system SHALL be able to provide a complete and affordable level of weather forecasting for demanding countries When fully operative, system SHALL be able to have capability of observation and measurement some of the main physical characteristics of earth surface (e.g. the ocean level, the extension of green areas, the progress of desertification, ) The basic success criterion SHALL be the capability of system to function at a minimum level. That is, satellites SHALL be able to reach the designed orbit and perform basic in-orbit operations. Satellites SHALL be able to communicate with ground segment sending a minimum amount of data. Ground segment SHALL be able to collect the received data. A fully level of success SHALL be the capability of system to exploit its functionalities in-depth. Satellites SHALL be able to keep the designed orbit for the minimum mission time TBD Satellites SHALL be able to perform fully in-orbit operations and to operate available payloads. Observations and forecasting SHALL be carried out. The total amount of data SHALL be collected, transmitted to ground segment, received and made available for the interested public
