ABOUTSTAFFDEVELOPMENTPROGRAMME Inrecentyearstheperformancerequirementforprocess plants has become increasingly difficult to satisfy. Stronger competition, tougher environmental and safety regulations rapidlychangingeconomicconditionshavebeenkeyfactorsin tightening the product quality specifications. A further complicationisthatmodernplantshavebecomemoredifficult to operate because of the trend towards complex and highly integrated processes. For such plants it is difficult to prevent disturbances from propagating one unit to interconnected units. In view of increased emphasis placed on safe and efficient plant operation, it is only natural that the subject process control has become important in recent years. Without computer based process control systems it would be impossible to operate modern plants safely and profitably while satisfying product quality and environmental requirements. Teaching faculty can update the knowledge on Principles of modeling, design, analysis, optimization and use of various tools (PLC/SCADA, MATLAB, and LABVIEW) available to devolope a control algorithm. This workshop helps the institutes who are going for introducing the M.Tech courses like control engg, Instrumentation and control, Industrial Process Instrumentation etc. This also gives an idea for the faculty who are interested to pursue research with process control. By gaining the knowledge in this field faculty will be able to impart and guide student projects both at UG and PG level.
