As four years of blood, sweat and tears in the name of the black and orange come to an end, we take the time to reflect on the experiences of our student-athletes and what they will miss most about their time at Lewis & Clark.

Margaret Dowling, a Psychology major with a focus in health and medicine, is a four-year letter winner on the volleyball and womens basketball team. Dowling chose Psychology because she was interested in human interaction and what drives individuals to think and act the way they do. After college, Dowling has a job working as a medical scribe in the Legacy hospitals in Portland. Dowlings favorite memory of her team is going to the national tournament in New York with her basketball team. She will never forget the final game against George Fox, but does not count it as her favorite memory. Her volleyball memories include an away victory against UPS that put the team in sole possession of first place, and their home victory against PLU on senior night. Dowling will miss most being part of a team and participating in competitive athletics. It still has not entirely hit me that it is all over, but I know it will be difficult next year when everyone else is playing, said Dowling. She will also miss the people. I have made so many connections, friends, and acquaintances, that I really value and I hope to keep those relationships strong after I leave.

Kevin Carpenter Football Track & Field

Kevin Carpenter, a Psychology major, is a four-year letter winner on both the football and track & field teams. Carpenter majored in Psychology because he has always been interested in how the brain works. After graduation, he plans on finding a job that falls within the field of Human-Computer Interaction. It mixes psychology and technology together. My goal is to find a position which will let me eventually achieve the position of Usability Specialist. Carpenter has no single favorite memory with his team; he loved the entire experience and was proud that they continued to improve throughout his four years. He will miss the scenery, sports, the cohesiveness of students and faculty and the college itself.

A History major and Religious Studies minor, Matt Karsh is a fouryear letter winner on the football team. Karshs study of history stems from his interest in how humanity got to be where it is today. Studying history, Ive had the privilege of learning about what makes us who we are, said Karsh. After college, he plans on continuing his education, seeking to earn his Masters in Divinity from the Western Seminary in Southeast Portland. At the completion of his studies he plans on becoming a National Guard Chaplain. Lewis & Clark Athletics has also played a huge role in his experience at LC. My favorite memory was the game my junior year when we beat UPS. One of my best friends and roommate Chris Kelly picked up a fumble and returned it for a touchdown to seal our victory. Its a moment I will remember vividly for the rest of my life. Karsh will also miss the people at LC and his experiences, particularly practices early in the morning and bus rides late at night. Although we might complain about them in the moment, it was a blessing to play intercollegiate athletics.

Louis Moore Mens Crew

Louis Moore, a four-year letter winner on the mens crew team chose to major in Psychology because of his passion for the subject and his desire to pursue a career in clinical psychology and research. After graduation, Moore plans to continue volunteering both in the research lab at OHSU and with the suicide and crisis hotline he worked with for his capstone. He is also in the process of applying for paid research positions, and is planning on applying to programs in clinical psychology in the next year. Moores favorite memory with his team was winning the conference race and winning the races when the odds were against them. My favorite memories with my team were the perfect sunrises at practice, the times we would have perfect rows and the feeling where you and seven other guys are completely synchronized and the boat is running super-fast, said Moore. With regard to LC, Moore will miss the people and the experiences they shared together.
