As four years of blood, sweat and tears in the name of the black and orange come to an end, we take the time to reflect on the experiences of our student-athletes and what they will miss most about their time at Lewis & Clark.

Margaret Dowling Volleyball Womens Basketball
Margaret Dowling, a Psychology major with a focus in health and medicine, is a four-year letter winner on the volleyball and womens basketball team. Dowling chose Psychology because she was interested in human interaction and what drives individuals to think and act the way they do. After college, Dowling has a job working as a medical scribe in the Legacy hospitals in Portland. Dowlings favorite memory of her team is going to the national tournament in New York with her basketball team. She will never forget the final game against George Fox, but does not count it as her favorite memory. Her volleyball memories include an away victory against UPS that put the team in sole possession of first place, and their home victory against PLU on senior night. Dowling will miss most being part of a team and participating in competitive athletics. It still has not entirely hit me that it is all over, but I know it will be difficult next year when everyone else is playing, said Dowling. She will also miss the people. I have made so many connections, friends, and acquaintances, that I really value and I hope to keep those relationships strong after I leave.
A History major and Religious Studies minor, Matt Karsh is a fouryear letter winner on the football team. Karshs study of history stems from his interest in how humanity got to be where it is today. Studying history, Ive had the privilege of learning about what makes us who we are, said Karsh. After college, he plans on continuing his education, seeking to earn his Masters in Divinity from the Western Seminary in Southeast Portland. At the completion of his studies he plans on becoming a National Guard Chaplain. Lewis & Clark Athletics has also played a huge role in his experience at LC. My favorite memory was the game my junior year when we beat UPS. One of my best friends and roommate Chris Kelly picked up a fumble and returned it for a touchdown to seal our victory. Its a moment I will remember vividly for the rest of my life. Karsh will also miss the people at LC and his experiences, particularly practices early in the morning and bus rides late at night. Although we might complain about them in the moment, it was a blessing to play intercollegiate athletics.
Natalie Stratton is a four-year letter winner in womens soccer and an Economics and Psychology double major. Strattons desire to go into business and get her MBA led her to the Economics major, while her Intro to Psychology class with Professor Jerusha Detweiler led her in that direction. After graduation, Stratton is moving to the east coast with her boyfriend and plans on finding a job in consultancy that fits well in her both her majors. Upon leaving LC, Stratton will miss all of her old roommates.
