Solemn Walk

STATION ONE
Jesus drew near and walked along with them.
Call to Worship Introduction Most of us who are present here have journeyed far from homes just to be here. The path towards this youth fellowship, though enjoyable and fulfilling, has its shares of challenges and difficulties. This can also be said about our own personal as well as spiritual journeys. This evening, as we begin to imbibe in our hearts the true spirit of fellowship, we would also like to embark on our own journey with Christ. Let this celebration guide us into the different stages and moments of our lifes journey Let us offer a few moments of silence as we prepare to journey with the Lord and with our brothers and sisters. Silence Opening Prayer Leader: All: Leader: In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. Let us pray. One in mind and heart, O God of glory, your people gather to proclaim your steadfast love. By the grace of your Spirit, help us to recognize the Lord who comes into our assembly and stands among us, so that as a community of believers, our daily lives may give testimony to the Resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with You, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God for ever and ever.

Amen. Luke 24:13-16

On that same day two of Jesus followers were going to a village named Emmaus, about seven miles from Jerusalem, and they were talking to each other about all the things that had happened. As they talked and discussed, Jesus himself drew near and walked along with them; they saw him, but somehow did not recognize him. Silence Commentator: Let us acknowledge Jesus in our small groups. Through a cheer or a yell, let us proclaim who Jesus is for us. As we move to our next station, let us proclaim who Jesus is for us as we shout out our cheers and yells.

Moving to Station 2

STATION TWO They stood still, with sad faces.

READING Luke 24:17-27

Jesus said to them, What are you discussing as you walk along? They stopped, looking downcast. One of them, named Cleopas, said to him in reply, Are you the only visitor to Jerusalem who does not know of the things that have taken place there in these days? And he replied to them, What sort of things? They said to him, The things that happened to Jesus the Nazarene, who was a prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people, how our chief priests and rulers both handed him over to a sentence of death and crucified him. But we were hoping that he would be the one to redeem Israel; and besides all this, it is now the third day since this took place. Some women from our group, however, have astounded us: they were at the tomb early in the morning and did not find his body; they came back and reported that they had indeed seen a vision of angels who announced that he was alive. Then some of those with us went to the tomb

and found things just as the women had described, but him they did not see. And he said to them, Oh, how foolish you are! How slow of heart to believe all that the prophets spoke! Was it not necessary that the Messiah should suffer these things and enter into his glory? Then beginning with Moses and all the prophets, he interpreted to them what referred to him in all the scriptures. Silent Reflection In silence, let us reflect on the following questions: What burdens you now and what is Gods message for you in the burdens you are facing? How do you recognize Gods presence in your burdens? Commentator: Let us now move to the next station as we pray one Our Father and 10 Hail Mary and let us ask for Gods forgiveness for the times we have allowed our burdens to overpower us and doubt Gods presence in our lives.

STATION THREE Stay with us

READING Luke 24:28-32

As they approached the village to which they were going, he gave the impression that he was going on farther. But they urged him, Stay with us, for it is nearly evening and the day is almost over. So he went in to stay with them. And it happened that, while he was with them at table, he took bread, said the blessing, broke it, and gave it to them. With that their eyes were opened and they recognized him, but he vanished from their sight. Then they said to each other, Were not our hearts burning within us while he spoke to us on the way and opened the scriptures to us?

INTERCESSORY PRAYER Leader: O Christ, by your resurrection you open to all people the gates of the Kingdom. Graciously listen to our prayer: Lead us to the Fathers glory. 1. By your resurrection you strengthened the faith of your disciples and you sent them into the world: may your Church be faithful in turn in proclaiming the Good News. 2. By your resurrection you reconciled us in your peace: enable all the baptized to enter into one and the same communion of faith and love. 3. By your resurrection you heal our humanity and you give us eternal life: we entrust all the sick to you. 4. By your resurrection you have become the first of the living.

As we move on to our last station, let us reflect on this question:

Looking in your life now, what are you willing to give to God for Him to multiply?

STATION FOUR He broke the bread and gave it to them.

Commentator: Let us call on God our Father using the prayer Christ himself taught us.

Let us pray. God of glory, we thank You for Jesus Christ, Whom You raised from the dead. He has opened our minds to understand Your Word; He has made Himself known to us in the breaking of the bread. May He live on in us blessing our feeble efforts to create a better world where there is justice and hope for all. Grant this through Christ, Your Son, our Lord. Amen.
