With the heading I am the vine you are the branches. Activity 1: Senior Kids: The Spider Web of Friendship Dynamics: Materials: A multi-colored ball of yarn (to call it tapestry) or any color if you call it a Web. Have the kids sit on the floor in large circle. Start by selecting a person to roll the yarn to another kid. The person who receives it should hold a piece of that string before passing it on to anyone whom they would like to choose. Say a short prayer out-loud for the one you choose before you pass the ball again to another person. The facilitator can also assign a sepcific topic for the prayer (e.g. family,s tudies, etc) Inthe end, it will look like a large web of diversity... but make sure the end of the thread must go back to the person in charge/ or the heartchamp.. that signifies that we are all connected to the true source. (Have fun re-rolling it!) Pep talk: In our Bible lesson today, Jesus told his disciples a story to teach them the importance of staying connected to him. Jesus used an example that his disciples would understand. He used the example of a vine. You know what a vine is, don't you? It is a plant with a lot of branches growing out from it. The branches have fruit on them. If it is a grapevine, the branches should have grapes on them. Have you ever seen a branch that has been broken off of a tree or a vine? What happens to it? That's right, it withers up and dies. Can it ever have any fruit on it again? No, it isn't any good for anything -- except fire wood. Jesus said, "I am the vine and you are the branches. If you remain in me, you will have much fruit, but apart from me, you can do nothing."

Just like the fruits that depends its growth from the tree so are we depend to our God. He is the source of everything, so apart from him we have nothing. So it is important that we always connect to him, and we do that by praying everyday. God loves us so much. And He wants us to be connected to him. And how can we be connected to him? Is through our prayers.. We need to pray to God everday. To thank him for our lives, for our family and friends. because He is the source of all. The one who always provides for our everyday need. And again just as the branches must be connected to the vine before they can produce fruit, you and I must stay connected to Jesus to produce the good fruit that God expects of us. Dear Father, help us to remember that we need to stay connected to you if we are going to produce the kind of fruit you expect. Amen. For us to remember that we need to connect to God everyday we will ask you to pick your favorite fruit cut out ( e.g. apple, banana, orange or grapes) then write the Lords prayer inside the fruit. We will say this prayer everday until our next assembly. We can pray it in the morning or at night as long as you pary it daily. As we end our assembly we will start to connect to God by saying the Lords Prayer.
