IMPROVING QoS IN HIGH-SPEED MOBILITY USING BANDWIDTH MAPS

AbstractLocation has a significant influences on the issues such as network bandwidths, measurements that are expected from Wireless Wide Area Networks(WWANs). It is well known that fast moving vehicles often change their locations therefore vehicular mobile computing is confronted with every possible significant variations to map network bandwidth available. There is a possible way to map the network locations keeping in mind the repeated measurements. There is a rapid development in WWLANs technology e.g.,3G, HSPDA, and WiMAX which have become very much possible and available to the mobile users. Here we make it easier by recording the repeated patterns and measurements of the location map of every individuals mobile users so that the appropriate network is provided inaddequently. Past Tells More Than Present(PTMTP) property used where it is held by the WWAN bandwidth and traces the bandwidth of each mobility vehicular. The main highlight of this project is that it is correlated between geographical location and network performances. Here importance is given for the personalised bandwidths. Studies show that WWAN bandwidth performance in a vehicular scenario is significantly under vehicular mobility as compared to the stationary environment. Therefore here it is investigated that weather the past bandwidth knowledge at certain location can be useful for the indicator of current bandwidth experienced at the location. It is also investigated that if downlink WWAN wireless bandwidth in a high-speed vehicular environments exhibits a similar trend. How to examine the mobility in QoS conditions are examined using the above properties. Next the investigation is done over the time of day influences the WWAN bandwidth at a given location. Therefore the sample bandwidths are partitioned into different time intervals using a granularity of 2 hours. This can be attributed to the time-varying characteristics of the wireless channel such as fading and interference and also the network load dynamics. The resulting bandwidth maps have greater relevance since bandwidth statistics along the routes frequented with the device carrier. Finally, using the simulation experiments driven by our measurement data, we quantify the improvement in the Quality of Service(QoS) that can be achieved by taking advantage of the geographical knowledge of bandwidth provided by the bandwidth maps. We find our approach reduces the frequency of the disruptions in perceived QoS for both audio and video applications in high-speed vehicular mobility by several orders of magnitude.
