ICATS TRAINING

We are the approved regional training centre for the ICATS program in the South of England, providing training solutions to companies and individuals within the industrial paint application industry. Our flexible approach to the training and the certification process enables us to provide services through a range of options, tailored to the clients operational needs.

Course Structure
Training is either delivered at our facility in Portsmouth, or for companies we can also send our ICATS trainer to your premises or site to deliver the training and certification to your staff. Over a five day period, we cover the following; Surface Preparation covering types, methods and plant/ equipment used Paint Types and systems, covering mixing, storage, compatibility Paint Application methods including taking atmospheric readings prior to application Health and Safety within the Paint Industry Access, Plant and equipment requirements Quality control covering the use of specialist testing and measuring equipment

What are the benefits of ICATS?

Registered contracting companies will benefit as they will have proven documentation of a competent work force. Many major authorities intend to make ICATS a mandatory requirement for companies submitting tenders for contracts. ICATS certification also gives companies a competitive edge when applying for registration on approved contractors lists and quoting for contracts. Clients will benefit as the scheme facilitates a compilation of accurate approved contractors lists for tender requirements and the courses comprehensive training programme should minimise technical, safety and quality control difficulties/issues on site.

Industrial Coating Applicator Training Scheme (ICATS)

ICATS is owned by Institute of Corrosion and operated through Correx Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of the Institute, and forms part of the Institutes training and certification portfolio. The ICATS scheme is a new comprehensive, structured training scheme for the training, certification and registration of industrial surface preparation and coating operatives. The scheme has a mandatory basic Unit Industrial Coating Applicator that comprises 6 modules - Health & Safety, Site Access, Plant & Equipment, Surface Preparation, Paint Types & Application and Quality Control. There are also 4 optional specialist modules; Abrasive Blast Cleaning Operator, Paint Sprayer, Thermal (Metal) Sprayer & Water Jetting Operator.
