Salon Treatment
1. At the start of the treatment, cleanse the skin thoroughly using Heitland Cleansing Oil.
2. Now use a fan mask brush to apply a thin layer of Rosa Graf Forty+ AHA to the face,
neck and décolleté. Make sure that none of the product gets into the eyes.
3. If the fruit acid peel stings too much, remove it at once using lukewarm compresses.
This might well be the case with highly sensitive skin and a relatively young client. This
is a normal reaction; this short time for the product to take effect is enough for these
clients.
4. Clients with relatively severe atrophies and older ladies feel only slight stinging, if any,
at the start. In these cases, you can leave the product to take effect for approx. 1
minute and 30 seconds.
5. It is important to wash the AHA product off properly to stop it working.
6. Now make up a fresh mix of the yoghurt mask for your client. To do so, take 1
teaspoonful of mask powder and 10 ml of water. Stir the mask with a spatula until you
have a smooth paste. Quickly apply the mask to the relevant areas using your hands.
Any burning as a consequence of the peel will now subside immediately. Your client will
experience a pleasant cool sensation and a refreshing, moisturized feeling.
7. She will have radiant skin and immediately look visibly younger.
8. The time to leave on the yoghurt mask varies depending on the condition of your
client’s skin. Refining the structure of the skin allows the active ingredients to
penetrate much more quickly and intensively, so in the case of very needy skin, the
mask can have developed its full effect after just 8 to 10 minutes.
9. The mask dries on and becomes like parchment; this shows you that it is time to wash
off the residue with plenty of lukewarm water. Do not wait too long - watch your
client’s skin, as the mask can create an unpleasant feeling of tautness as it dries.
10. Now apply Rosa Graf Forty+ Cream generously to the face, neck and décolleté.
11. Give your client a little time to relax and then massage the rest of the cream in after
about 5 min. using gentle massaging movements or a pressure point massage
(acupressure).

AHA PEELING TREATMENT
Rosa Graf has developed an AHA Skin Rejuvenation Treatment for the Beauty Salon. Alpha Hydroxy Acids (their
abbreviation "AHA ") or fruit acids, have similar effects upon the skin as the Vitamin A Acid, the one which can
only be prescribed by a doctor. Alpha Hydroxy Acids bring genuine improvement to the skin but without
undesirable side effects. Scientists in the USA have worked in the research of Alpha Hydroxy Acids for over 20
years and have discovered that AHA’s are excellently suited for the treatment of various skin disorders such as
Chronic Lepidosis or excessive callosities. Some years ago, the sensational discovery was also made that the
AHA’s have a highly positive influence on facial skin. Scientific research at the University of Philadelphia has
proven that AHA’s reduce wrinkles of the skin significantly. This effect can be achieved considerably more quickly
with higher AHA doses that with low ones. Rosa Graf has transformed these scientific findings into a practical
treatment for beauty salons that can be applied by estheticians.
AH Acids have a direct effect on the epidermis, particularly in the deep area of the Stratum Corneum. They lead
to a reduction in skin damage that is connected with a thickened Stratum Corneum. Experiments have also
proven that there is a far-reaching effect on the Basal Layer. The Basal Layer is stimulated to form more new
cells, a desirable regenerative effect for the process of cellular communication activated by the AHA's. Highly
concentrated AHA Products probably have a wider reaching effect: they appear to promote the body’s own
production of Collagen and Elastín, helping wrinkles and lines of the surface of the skin to disappear, although
this process has not been scientifically explained yet.
The Significance Of The Stratum Corneum For The Texture Of The Skin
The Stratum Corneum it is the top layer of the skin and forms a protective barrier to the environment. In young
and healthy skin, the layer is very thin, elastic and with a wavy structure; as a result of this wave structure, the
light received by the skin is reflected in a very special form producing a pearly shine, making the young skin so
attractive. With age and particularly as a result of exposition to the sun, the Stratum Corneum increases its
thickness and impermeability.
A certain thickness is perfectly desirable as a so-called “Light Barrier". It forms the skin’s own natural UV
protection and diminishes as a result of less solar exposure. The Stratum Corneum loses its wavy structure with
age and excessive solar radiation. At the same time, the individual corneal cells become thoroughly swollen and
the natural shedding of the dead, outermost cells slows down. As a result, the Stratum Corneum cannot fulfil its
blocking function appropriately and the skin becomes dry and rough. The loss of the wavy structure alters the
light reflection and results in a pale and tired appearance of the skin.
The effect of the AH Acid is not only restricted to the Stratum Corneum, the “how” has not yet been explained,
but it is viewed as certain that the AH Acids trigger an information mechanism between the various skin layers
which stimulate the basal layer, the Deeper Stratum of the epidermis, for further activity in the division of cells.
11
This makes the epidermis stronger with the result of greater capacity of retention of humidity and it contributes to
a smoother and softer skin.
A probable hypothesis is that the AH Acids can even promote the production characteristics of collagen in the
body; this would mean an indirect effect on the corium or cutis and this way a reduction of existent wrinkles.
This effect would have first to be scientifically proven. The AH Acids are chemically closely related to Ascorbic
Acid for which such an effect has already be proven. For this reason, there is a very good possibility that this is
also true for the AH Acid. (Information Acids, alpha -Hydroxy use forms in the clinical practice for E.J Scoff and
R: J:Yu Go, University of Philadelphia, 1989).
Review of sequential pictures, (for acne treatment trials) revealed a gradual reduction of both keratosis and
wrinkles of fine and moderate calibre on the sides of the face and temporal areas. Because of this observation, a
group of patients was entered into a prospective exploratory trial in which they twice daily applied creams
containing from 5 to 10 percent of Glycolic Acid Solution applied to the face and rinsed off with water after 2 or
4 minutes: With the time an erythema not very strong appeared that usually persisted for one or more hours.
The time of exposure was gauged to avoid significant discomfort, except the sensation of a mild tingling or
burning. Some minimal and fine scaling was reported by some patients to have occurred afterwards. All the
patients were asked to avoid sun exposure, and to use a sunscreen with a sun protection factor greater than 15 if
it was impossible not to be exposed to the sun. Pictures of each side of the face and temporal areas were taken in
the facilities of the treatment and repeated with an interval of one to three months under conditions of
standardized picture. Review of photographs revealed a significant reduction in wrinkles of the temporal and/or
cheek area on at least one side in twenty-one (21) cases. The degree of reduction was mild to moderate in nine
cases and substantial in twelve.
• All the AHA products have a low pH value; 90% of AHA is pure, not neutralized acid. This guarantees
the high efficiency of our AHA products.
• The Soothing Mask is a specially formulated sedative, which should be used after each exfoliation
treatment AHA.
• SunTime SPF17 with solar protection factor SPF 17, which should be used as day care during the AHA
treatment program in a beauty salon.
• A special dish and an application brush are required to work with the products AHA in the beauty
salon.

PROTOCOL FOR AHA PEELING TREATMENT
Treatment Guidelines
Progress and duration of the treatment program depend upon the individual skin texture of the client. Which
AHA products are used and the length of the treatment depend upon the tolerance and sensibility of the
individual's skin. To determine the degree of sensibility of the skin and to define the progress of the time of
treatment AHA, a tolerance test is required at the beginning, using AHA 10%. The average of duration of the
treatment is 6 weeks and consists of 4 peeling treatments for 30 minutes each; the time between appointments or
visits to the Beauty Salon must be exactly 7 days.
First Week:
The first appointment to the Beauty Salon is for a preliminary consultation on the treatment, anamnesis and skin
analysis of the client in connection with an AHA sensibility Test.
• The main one is to determine the client's sensibility for the Alfa Hydroxy Acids.
• Target, procedure and duration of the AHA treatment.
• Cooperation in the home care.
• Cosmetic History. Questions are asked about the client's cosmetic history which formulas she or he is
using at this time (in the case of new clients) and whether she or he has already had experience of peeling
treatment (ex: Vitamin A Acid). The skin problems to be solved are determined together with allergies or
hypersensitivities to certain substances.
Case A
If after 5 minutes no erythema of red color does show on the skin, it is a sign that the product AHA 10% has
been well tolerated and the treatment can begin without any reservation.
Case B
If erythema occurs, a further test should be made, using a weaker AHA concentration. The concentration of the
AHA 10% can be reduced to 5% by mixing with Rosa Graf Rosana Liquid Cream (Art. No. 119); in the event of
good tolerance, the AHA treatment should be made with this concentration: The client is given the preparation
AHA 10% and SunTIME SPF17 for the use at home.
First Treatment:
After cleansing - toning should absolutely be eliminated here - apply AHA 10% to the skin. A characteristic tickling
happens immediately, this however wears off around 30 seconds. Care is continued during the day with
SunTIME SPF17, in the evening with one Rosa Graf product for the night care (water/oil emulsion) Blue Line
Crème Regenerative (code 144)
Second Week:
13
Second Salon appointment: A skin analysis is performed, the observations noted and the same skin tolerance test
as described above should be made using AHA 10%. In case of good tolerance you should recommend the client
to continue using AHA also at home. She or he now uses AHA 10% twice daily.
If however the 10% preparation causes erythema in the test, you recommend that your client continue to use it
diluted in Rosa Graf Rosana Liquid Cream code 119, in same parts, to lower the strength of the AHA to 5% at
home for one week. The phase for the skin to get used to AHA products is thus prolonged; all the other steps of
the treatment are postponed this way by one week.
Third week:
Third Salon appointment: for the first Peeling treatment with AHA 35%.
Fourth Week
Fourth visit to the Beauty Salon: Appointment for the second Peeling treatment. The second Peeling treatment is
also done using AHA 35%, the procedure is exactly the same as the one described for the third week.
Fifth Week
Fifth visit to the Beauty Salon: Appointment for the third Peeling treatment.
Sixth week:
Sixth visit to the Beauty Salon: Appointment for the fourth Peeling treatment.
The procedure of the treatment is again the same as that of the third week.
14
After the course of the treatment the use of the home care product AHA 10% must be continued if the result
achieved is to be maintained.
Continue applying AHA 10% to the skin twice daily directly after cleansing (including toning) before using the
day or night care.
Before applying the oil/water emulsions (day creams) it is advisable to allow some few minutes for AHA 10% to
take effect.
Salon Peeling Session to maintain the results: every 4-6 weeks with AHA 35%.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
• The eyes must be covered for protection at every treatment.
• When removing/applying AHA 10% and AHA 35% always use a brush and/or protective gloves.
• Do not exceed the exposure time of 4 minutes maximum during the Peeling.
• Avoid open wounds or scratches.
• Reaction to the AHA products, just as a characteristic sensation of tickling, some burning will occur – not
to be scratched - . This is absolutely normal and no cause to stop the treatment.
• The sensation begins right after the application of the products and it lasts for one minute with the home
products. With the salon products it lasts during the whole treatment. As the high concentration of AHA
causes the renovation of the epidermis it can happen that a latent, not developed inflammation is
discovered, it is assumed that this is a result of the deep acting effect of the AHA treatment and does not
mean intolerance to the formulation. Explain this principle to the client during the first consultation.
• Stay with your client for the whole time of the treatment so that you can answer questions and calm
anxieties and act appropriately in the event of some reaction.
• During the course of the treatment the client should always use SunTIME SPF17 during the day and avoid
all UV radiation (solar light, solarium).
AMINTAmed, Help for impure and oily skin w/ beta hydroxy acid
Oily skin is not a sign of a lack of care but the result of hormone processes in the body. However, one need not
simply accept this situation.
ROSA GRAF AMINTAmed and the special treatment from the aesthetician - the unbeatable team against impure
skin.
AMINTAmed consists of 6 products.
Wash Washing gel
Tonic Face tonic
Balance Day care
Balm Night care
Anti Spot Pimple roll-on
Powder Care Face powder
The effectiveness was tested over an extended period of time on volunteers. The products have a preventative
effect against the development of comedones and inflammable impurities and also help to lessen existing
problems.
• AMINTAmed Wash: Thorough though gentle cleansing always comes at the beginning of an effective
treatment program. Its aim is to remove superfluous skin but when doing so the skin should not dry out.
15
AMINTAmed Wash is an antibacterial, keratolytic working cleansing gel on a base of mild wash active substances
(WAS). It is slightly acidic, pH value 4.0.
It is enriched with *pansy extract and *salicylic acid.
• AMINTAmed Tonic: Indispensable after treatment: the toning. In order to disinfect and to remove residual
matter from lime salts from the water.
AMINTAmed Tonic is an antibacterial facial water with a slightly acidic pH value of 4.5.
Active ingredients are: *pansy extract, *salicylic acid and *ethanol (ethyl alcohol).
• AMINTAmed Balance: After cleansing and toning the actual skin care now takes place because now the skin
is ready to absorb the active ingredients. The special day protection for oily, impure skin is AMINTAmed Balance.
A day care with antibacterial effect especially on proprionibacterium acnes and corynebacterium acnes. In this
respect it is however mild and gentle on the skin. In addition to the *pansy extract already mentioned,
*phytospingosine, *fucogel, *lecithin and *sesame oil can be named as further active ingredients in this product.
This product is a gel cream with just 12% fat phase. Thus a very high moisture content is effective.
• AMINTAmed Balm: the night care for youthful problem skin with *sesame oil and *pansy extract. With this
product, antibacterial additives were dispensed with in order to allow the skin a recuperation phase during night
rest.
• AMINTAmed Antispot: Giving rapid immediate help to individual pimples. It has a keratolytic and anti-
inflammatory effect. Through its local use it dries out the pimple, which then falls off after a short time. Active
ingredients are *salicylic acids, and *glycerin acids.
• AMINTAmed Powder Care: on unpleasant shine or slight impurities this product is ideal for touching up. The
powder absorbs superfluous grease and has a matting effect without blocking the pores. With anti-microbial
effect.
Product Concept
AMINTAmed is a product range for the treatment of impure and oily skin in the Aesthetics Salon and for the
accompanying care at home.
a) Genetic factors
For all people, the time period between the ages of 12 and 16 is characterized by a rapid hormone change of the
organism which brings with it noticeable emotional and physical changes. At this time the genetically determined
skin type of the individual person develops. During this process, the known different skin appearances develop.
Seborrhea oleosa (oily, impure skin), seborrhea sicca (mixed skin), normal skin and sebostase (dry skin) develop.
In the following text passage only seborrhea oleosa, i.e. oily, impure skin, will be of interest to us because it is
only from this form that the unfriendly appearances such as pimples, pustules etc. can develop. However, not
every seborrhea automatically leads to the occurrence of an acne-like skin appearance.
The oily skin is characterized by an increased production of sebaceous matter, an increased, initially non-diseased
thickening of the corneal layer (hyper-keratosis) and an increased secretion of perspiration.
16
The increased production of sebaceous matter manifests itself in the so-called seborrheal zones i.e. the body
regions in which the highest density of sebaceous matter glands is present. These are in particular the hair covered
head, the face and neck area, as well as the shoulders and the upper arm areas and carrying over into the upper
middle regions of the chest and back. On the face, above all the central parts such as nose, nasal-labial folds and
the chin are affected (T-zone), to a lesser extent the cheek areas. The increased secretion of sebaceous matter
causes the oily shine of the skin and (mostly) also enlarged pores, which give the entire, skin a coarser
appearance. The excessive hornification with seborrhea oleosa affects the entire skin, but has a particularly
irritating effect above all in the follicle (follicular or peri-follicular hyper-keratosis). When stroked, the skin feels
like a rasp. The increased production of perspiration (hyper-hidrosis) of the seborrhoeal skin predominantly
affects the areas head, face and armpits, as well as the inner surfaces of the hands and feet.
b) Hormone factors
At the beginning of puberty, the previously inconspicuous sebaceous matter glands on boys and girls grow, above
all under the influence of male sexual hormones. At the same time an increasing production of sebaceous matter
and an increased flow of sebaceous matter results. Together with the perspiration and the metabolism products of
the skin’s own microflora, the sebaceous matter forms the so-called acid protective covering (hydrolipid film),
which makes a major contribution to keeping the skin healthy. The skins own microflora is dependent on the
respective pH value and the composition of the sebaceous matter.
During puberty the secretion of the sebaceous matter and perspiration glands alters as a result of the beginning of
the hormone production by the sexual organs. As a result of this, changes in the composition of the skins own
microflora also occur. Frequent inflammation of the skin is an indication of the fact that the equilibrium between
pathogenic ("bad“) and apathogenic ("good") organisms must first of all be established. The most frequent and
typical skin disease during puberty is acne.
Acne occurs in most people during this stage of development, however in various degrees of severity. With acne,
an over production of skin sebaceous matter and often a blocking of the follicle exits results from saturation of
the sebaceous matter glands. The activity of the sebaceous matter glands is hormone controlled via the male
hormones. In this respect it is in particular the testosterone that is the actual initiating component, it controls the
growth rate, the rate of disintegration and the size of the sebaceous matter cells. Therefore male skin is also
fundamentally greasier that the skin of women and children. Thus it is that young males are more frequently
affected by acne. However, even with women the male sex hormone, which is required for specific energetic
processes, has a direct effect on the metabolism of the sebaceous matter glands. With certain illnesses of the
suprarenal gland, which accompany an increase of the androgen production, an acne-like appearance results for
example from the increased production of the sebaceous matter glands. Women who have been treated with
testosterone react with so-called delayed acne, the growth of facial hair and a deep voice.
c) Bacterial processes
Sebaceous matter, perspiration and the increasingly occurring corneal layer material in seborrhoea are a good
source of nourishment for micro-organisms such as for example staphylococci and fungi, in particular the forms
corynebacterium acnes and proprionibacterium acnes. Staphylococci lead to the owner of an oily, impure skin
also suffering more frequently from bacterial infections in the form of individual pustules, but also in the form of
more deeply extending furuncles. Even seborrhea eczema, either localized in the center of the chest or spread
diffusely, combined with follicular keratosis (excess hornification) of the follicular excretory duct) is probably
caused fundamentally by microbial metabolism products.
Even acne vulgaris or the "skin impurities“ occurring in advance of such are a complication of the seborrhoea,
which are increased in particular by the bacterial forms corynebacterium and proprionibacterium acnes during
their development.
17
The typical and primary efflorescence of acne is the comedo ("blackhead“). It results from a hornification
disturbance in the follicle i.e. the peeling off of the hornification in the follicle is disturbed. As a result, a
conglutinate horn graft forms which then leads to a follicle closure when impregnated with sebaceous matter. This
blocking, possibly together with tears in the area of the sebaceous matter gland and the bacterial breakdown of
the sebaceous matter, finally lead to the various stages of acne.
At first non-inflammable alterations are at the forefront of the skin appearances in the typical appearance of the
comedone acne (acne comedonica). Closed, white, grit-like (white head) comedones can interchange with open
comedones, which look black as a result of the oxidization of the keratin (black heads). Around the pores the
horn layer is thickened like a wall. A sign of the simultaneously present inflammable reactive hyperkeratosis.
Frequently, the surrounding tissue is also infiltrated in an inflammable manner and infected in an edematous
swelling and secondary bacterial manner.
As a result of the inward migration of initial causative agents of the pimples, the blackheads have become the
acne pustules. See graphic.
Later, more easily inflammable papulopustular skin alterations result (acne papulo pustulosa) which given even
greater intensity, can transform into furunculous infiltrates (acne conclobata, acne granuloma and similar).
With acne, the skin color is mostly yellowish ashen and with poor circulation, a sign of the thick, horn layer that
has become hard and which does not allow the blood vessels to gleam through.
On acne skin whose appearance is often very varied, all stages of the inflammation can often be seen at the same
time. Depending on how far the focus of inflammation extends into the epidermis, these either heal scar-free or
with deep, often dark founded scar grooves. The surface of the skin can then look as if it has had holes punched
in it. Today on average approx. 40% - 50% of young people suffer from this skin disturbance, young males more
frequently than females. Suppositions tend towards an increase in this figure in future, partly as a result of the
increasingly early onset of puberty, which can be observed on a global level, combined with a certain emotional
immaturity. In any case the young people affected suffer a great deal from this pubertal disturbance of the skin
with its unaesthetic and often deforming appearance. Their self-confidence, which at this age is often extremely
fragile anyway, is often shaken to such major extents that contact disturbances, depressive moods and not
infrequently even psychological panic reactions can result.
a) Even the dermatologist cannot alter anything to do with the genetic disposition i.e. the development of the
skin type. Today however, there are medicines available such as for example tretionin or isotretionin, which
are able to directly affect the sebaceous matter glands (vitamin A, acid derivative). These medicines hinder the
production of sebaceous matter and reduce the size of the sebaceous matter glands so that the appearance of
the skin can improve. Unfortunately, this medicine also has grave disadvantages. In long-term studies a fertility
damaging effect was determined in women so that this form of therapy should be provided mainly to men,
unless the ladies are using contraceptives. Furthermore, during long-term tretionin medication an increase in
liver values extending as far as grave liver damage was also observed. Therefore only short-term treatment can
be considered here with precise monitoring of the liver values.
b) In particular on women and young girls the giving of medicines containing estrogen (e.g. the pill, diane,
ennamin) has also proven itself. Estrogen has a direct hindering influence on the secretion of sebaceous matter.
In cases of severe acne with scar formation, it is today possible to begin giving these hormones to 13-14 year
old girls, nevertheless under the most careful dosing on the part of the treating doctor so as not to restrict
18
height growth prematurely. Now, it does happen to us as treating beauticians that customers come to us in the
Aesthetics Salon with the observation that the hormone analysis has shown completely normal values for
them. Important in this respect is to know that acne can also occur with fully normal androgen values (in
approx. 20% - 30% of all acne cases). Then, an increased sensitiveness of the affected women and children to
androgens is often present so that with these ladies hormone concentrations, which remain free of symptoms
on others, can cause the most severe acne lesions. Here too, well-founded counseling of the clients is
indispensable. An optimally advised client will be pleased to visit you again for subsequent or further
treatment.
As a result of the giving of antibiotics in particular tetracycline, the dermatologist tries to fight all other causes of
occurrence of acne, in particular the bacteria proprionibacterium acnes and corynebacterium acnes. Often the
urgently required treatment is unpleasant for those affected by severe forms of acne, especially young men, and
painstaking skin care is a chore so that in many cases deforming scars result, which could often have been
avoided. Here the medicinal
c) Treatment is then of no effect, only operative treatment can achieve the optic improvement of the
appearance and thus an increased state of physical well-being.
DERMABRASION
Here the affected areas are smoothed down at high speed in order to achieve a smoothing out of flat scars. On
scars, which are situated deep under the skin, the dermabrasion should be preceded by punch elevation.
PUNCH ELEVATION
By means of small punches of 2-3 mm in diameter, corresponding circular cuts are made in the skin of the scar. As
a result of the separation from the surrounding tissue, it is possible to raise the scars and to fix these at the level of
the surrounding skin by means of adhesive strips. After healing, only small differences in level can be detected
which can be completely removed by subsequent dermabrasion. In this respect attention must be paid to ensuring
that there is a waiting period of approx. 3 months before the dermabrasion in order that the skin islets are again
fully grown in.
LASER TREATMENT
In recent years in addition to this process, the possibility of treatment by laser in particular the Erbium Yag laser
and the ultra pulsed CO2 laser has established itself. Here the smoothing of the skin is carried out by layer-wise
removal of the upper skin layers by means of so-called thermal ablation. In this respect the fluid present in the
tissue evaporates through the absorption of the energy present in the laser beam. All that remains is dust from the
skin cells, which is simply wiped off. The reports on these methods of treatment show similarly good results as
does the combination of dermabrasion and punch elevation, however to date there are no indicative studies on
long term results.
OPERATIVE TREATMENT
With severe furuncle and fistula formation it is difficult to avoid operative treatment of the affected skin areas,
something that on the other hand represents a severe burden on the heart and the cardio-vascular system. Here in
particular, the enormous importance of preventative prophylactic counseling and treatment by the beautician can
be seen once again. Locally, the skin doctor can try to solve the extreme hornification (hyper keratosis) of the skin
with peeling agents such as:
Vitamin A acid, Salicylic acid, Benzoyl peroxide, Neverdings and aceline acid (mostly in conjunction with the
giving of antibiotics).

acne with nutrition is the subject of dispute in the specialist medicinal world. From our point of view however,
advising of the client is necessary concerning the fact that high quality nutrition with sufficient fruit, vegetables,
salads and whole-meal products, as well as concerning the positive effect of exercise in the fresh air and the fact
that appropriate equalization with peace and relaxation increases physical well being and thereby can also have a
positive effect on the condition of the skin. Furthermore, it is a known fact that young people with acne vulgaris
often suffer from functional disturbances in the digestive area.
In addition the Rosa Graf aestheticians have a wide range of products from well known and proven, as well as
from brand new products for effective and successful treatment and care.
"New to the branch“ and developed on the basis of the latest dermatological and cosmetic information is our

AmintaMed Ingredients
Pansy extract: For the manufacture of the extract, the above-ground parts of the wild growing plant "viola
tricolor“ which grows in Central Europe, Northern Asia and North America are used. The active ingredients are
made up of saponins (foam forming, soapy plant constituents), salicylic acid, flavonoids, cartinoids and others.
Paracelsus emphasised the healing value of pansy extract. Known in popular medicine as a blood cleansing agent.
In cosmetics preparations are added to the extract which can be used both on acne as well as on impure and
sensitive skin. With fissured tears, the extract exercises a positive effect on the skin and shortens the healing
process.
Salicylic acid: Is a white, crystalline powder which dissolves with difficulty in water and with ease in alcohol. The
acid has an antiseptic and preserving effect. In higher concentrations it may soften up and remove the corneal
skin. Salicylic acid extract is used in mouth and tooth care products, in hair waters for treating dandruff, as well as
parasitic skin diseases, in anti-perspirants and in products for the treatment of psoriasis and seborrhoeal skin
conditions.
23
Ethyl alcohol also referred to as spirit of wine, brandy or spirit, is an easily movable, aromatic scented and
inflammable fluid. It is very hygroscopic (water attracting) as a result of which it can only be produced to a
content of 96% through normal distillation. Ethanol is a good solvent for numerous materials, furthermore it is a
strong disinfectant in aqueous solutions, has a protein reducing and water attracting effect. Upwards of a
concentration of 30% it irritates the skin and is poisonous. In cosmetics it is a very important basic material which
is hardly replaceable as a result of its refreshing and toning effect. The same applies for its use in the manufacture
of perfumes (scent carrier).
Phytosphingosine: are basic molecules which occur in free form in young skin and also as a constituent part of the
ceramides. They play a decisive role in growth and the differentiation of the keratin ozytes. Furthermore, it has
been possible to prove through scientific tests that even in very small concentrations they can fully prevent
growth damaging and skin irritating bacteria. In addition they activate the biosyntheses of ceramides, have an
anti-inflammatory and effective radical catcher effect (anti-oxidative effect). For anti-seborrhoeal acting products
they are obtained from yeast in bio-technical processes.
Fucogel: is a polysaccharide (multiple sugar) which is built up from three monosaccharides (simple sugar), fucose,
galactose and galactonic acid. It forms a gel with particular cosmetic qualities. It is obtained from soy/maize by
bio-technical fermenting. Fucogel forms a film on the surface of the skin through which the skin is moistened to a
high extent. Additionally this results in the water loss of the skin being reduced by evaporation. Furthermore, this
gel has allergen qualities, does not become oily, is easy to distribute and is well accepted by the skin. The skin is
given a pleasant feeling of freshness.
Lecithin: is a yellowish-brown, sticky substance with self- emulsifying qualities. Lecithin consists of a multitude of
materials (e.g. ester of the glycerine, alcohol etc.). Raw material sources for lecithin are soy beans, maize, rape
and similar. As a result of chemical processing, lecithin is obtained from this. In cosmetics it is used as an auxiliary
emulsifier in skin creams and various other products. Lecithin is also the basic material for the production of
liposomes.
Sesame oil: is a light yellow oil from the seeds of the sesame plant. It contains simple and multiply saturated fatty
acids. Sesame oil is very similar to the skin fat, spreads well and distinguishes itself through very good skin
tolerance.
Glycerine acids: extract from the liquorice root. For its obtaining, finely cut liquorice roots are sprayed with
water. Later ethanol is added. The filtrate is cleaned, finally the glycyrrhizic acid is obtained. The glycyrrhizic acid
is a valued raw material thanks to its equalising, wound healing and anti-inflammatory effect. Furthermore it is
effective against substances with a skin irritating and allergy causing effect, something which has been
demonstrated by various studies.

Methode Baobab The new Anti-aging treatment
The pulp of the Baobab fruit is rich in Citric acid, Ascorbic acid (Vitamin C = six times that in oranges!) and
Tartaric acid, combined with Q10, Hyaluronic acid, Vitamin A (Retinol), Vitamin E and Chitosan.
For hundreds of years we have been trying to improve on nature. Now it is time to realize that, even with all of
today’s technology, we will never come close to creating anything nearly as beautiful as a flower. However, in
nature we encounter beauty and natural harmony of utmost perfection. Everything in nature is in tune, sync and
rhythm. So let’s go Back to Nature with Baobab, because thanks to Baobab you can now show a vastly improved
face.
Usable plant parts: The dried fruit pulp or fiber from the bark, more seldom the leaves or seeds.
Medicinal uses: A refreshing drink can be made of the edible fruit pulp, which is known as cream of tartar. This
drink is used in the treatment of fever, diarrhea and occasionally hemoptysis. In western Africa the bark and
leaves are valued as anti-inflammatory and diaphoretic agents and used to remedy bladder infections and mild
gastro-intestinal disorders. It is reported that the leaves are used to treat fever, as an antiperspirant and as a
firming agent. In South Africa the seeds are ground and given to children to cure hiccups. The bark is sold in
Europe as a fever remedy under the name Cortex Cael Cedra, a substitute for Quinine. There are numerous other
non-medicinal uses.
Preparation: The fruit pulp is mixed with water or an extract is prepared from the bark.
Active ingredients: The fruit pulp is rich in Citric acid, Ascorbic acid (vitamin C) and Tartaric acid.

The outermost layer of the epidermis plays a decisive role as our natural protective shield. An adhesive-like
substance holds the dead skin cells to the surface. Baobab dissolves these bonds. Dead skin flakes are removed,
reducing not only the thickness of the horny layer, but also reducing the wrinkle depth.
But the magical effects of Baobab go even deeper! The tiny molecules of the baobab fruit can penetrate through
the epidermis and stimulate the cells of the connective tissue to produce more collagen and elastin. This gives the
skin a chance to bind the moisture it needs.
Th combination with Chitosan (a bio-polymer), a fascinating substance from the shells of crustaceans and other
shellfish, produces an additional valuable anti-aging effect. Chitosan improves the moisture retention significantly
by forming an invisible, protective film.
For optimum results combine three Salon Treatments with 5-day Home Care Treatments, depending on the
condition of the skin.
Now the face can finally show its new firmer, softer and more radiant skin!

ALEGRAMED FOR DRY and very dry SKIN with Lactic Acid
ALEGRAmed has been created for dry and very dry skin. It reconstructs the skin's natural balance through use of
biotechnological effective ingredients. Especially dry and very dry skin show disturbed skin protection. The cause:
Dry skin is marked an uneven appearance, scaliness, itching, and at times even enlarged pores. The reason is the
lack of lipids and natural moisturizing factor. The result is a disturbed barrier function, which leads to a reduction
of moisture retaining capability and dry skin.
• ALEGRAmed helps the skin to rebuild its own protection barrier
• ALEGRAmed does not contain animal derived ingredients and no mineral oils
• ALEGRAmed improves the moisture retaining ability of the top skin layers and the overall appearance of dry
skin through regular use
• ALEGRAmed aids in a smooth and supple skin.
• ALEGRAmed LIQUID
Day cream, slightly superfatty emulsion with a creamy consistency. Moistens, protects and vitalizes the skin, an
optimal make-up foundation for dry and very dry skin.
Active Ingredients:
Urea - an element of the NMF (Natural Moisturizing Factor) increases the water binding ability of the cornea and
avoids water losses.
Sea Salt - contains important mineral substances that are responsible for cell water balance and moisture such as
sodium, magnesium, potassium and trace elements.
Vitamin E - a free-radical catcher, protects the skin prone to wrinkles. Acts anti-inflammatory and healing and
improves the moisture retaining ability of the cornea.
D-Panthenol - provitamin B5 improves the moisture balance and prevents water loss. Anti-inflammatory in cases
of irritated skin and sunburn.
Application: After thorough cleansing in the morning apply with gentle movements onto face and neck. Tip: wait
20 min. before the application of make-up because the skin needs this duration as optimum condition to absorb
ALEGRAmed LIQUID.
• ALEGRAmed CREAM
Highly concentrated night care with an unusually creamy character. Smoothes rough, dry skin, bringing renewed
energy to the skin. Rebuilds the natural balance, which gives a feeling of comfort and complete hydration.

of irritated skin and sunburn.
Application: After thorough cleansing in the evening apply with gentle movements onto face and neck. Tip:
spread a pea-sized amount onto your finger tips so that the cream is warmed slightly and then spread it gently.
Recommended home care products: HEITLAND CLEANSING Milk, HEITLAND CLEANSING Tonic, ALEGRAmed
Liquid as day care and ALEGRAmed Cream as night care.
Tips
Hands - if your client has a dry skin his/her hands also needs attention. Spoil your clients by also treating the
hands. Clean hands with HEITLAND CLEANSING Milk or even HEITLAND CLEANSING Peeling. Apply a thick
layer Algae Moisturizing Mask and cover with paper tissue or foil. Allow taking effect during the complete
treatment until the finishing step. Remove the rest with a moistened compress and massage in ALEGRAmed
CREAM.

causes. In addition, *green tea has been shown to provide protection from bacteria and even viruses on the skin.
The three T TIME products complement each other ideally. T TIME DAY as care for at home, T TIME HIGH
EFFECTIVE CONCENTRATE for intensive treatment in the salon and T TIME BEAUTY CAPSULES to swallow for
further protection.
T TIME THERAPY
A therapy treatment with T TIME HIGH-EFFECTIVE CONCENTRATE provides protection from various types of
skin damage and also improves the resistance of the skin. It increases the skin's own resistance so that the skin can
better come to terms with the daily effects of the aggressive environment. This is particularly important in
summer when exposed to more UV rays. T TIME THERAPY, comprising HIGH-EFFECTIVE CONCENTRATE in
the cabin, regular use of the BEAUTY CAPSULES for inner support and to reinforce the protective effect, and
accompanying home care with T TIME DAY and NIGHT as their moisturizer for both morning and evening. Ideal
for the summer holidays or afterwards.
1. For Atrophy:
Cleansing: CLEANSING Milk refer to section 1) or CLEANSING Oil (refer to section 1) and CLEANSING Tonic
(refer to section 1)
Exfoliation: Enzymatic exfoliation (refer to section 12) with the Rosa Graf Multipulle Peeling (refer to section 18).
Massage: Activate T TIME HIGH-EFFECTIVE CONCENTRATE withdraw 10 mls of Phase 1 and inject into Phase 2,
shake it well for approximately 30 seconds. Using syringe apply the activated Green Tea on to the skin using
either, iontophoresis or
Tapotement massage technique for penetration. The skin will accept approximately 6mls at this point.
Immediately apply Cream Regenerative (refer to section 8) and carry out a stimulating massage under steam for
8-10 minutes
Mask: Apply either Mask Regenerative (refer to section12) or the Lecithin Mask Refer to section12), allow to take
effect for 10-15 minutes. Remove with warm, damp compresses.

Suntime (refer to section 14) if needed, T-Time Day and Night, Eye Mask (refer to section 8) and Eye Cream (refer
to section 8). Apply light make-up if desires.
39
T TIME therapy treatment is particularly advisable when the skin tends to atrophy, particularly before and after
the summer holidays to stabilize the skin which undergoes stress particularly at these times. We recommend a
package of 10 treatments (1 - 2 per week). In the case of therapy, Exfoliation should only be carried out in the 1st,
5th and 10th sessions. Mask and massage can be combined by allowing the pack to work in for only 5 - 10
minutes and then carrying out a brief massage with the mask. The Mask Regenerative (refer to section 8) and
Lecithin Mask (refer to section 12) are suitable for this type of treatment.
2. For Dry Skin
Cleansing: CLEANSING Milk (refer to section 1) or Cleansing Oil (refer to section 1) and Cleansing Tonic (refer to
section 1)
Exfoliation: CLEANSING Peeling (refer to section 1)
Main Treatment: Activate and apply T-Time High Effective Concentrate same as previous treatment. Follow
immediately with ThalassO Mask (refer to ThalassO Tab section) brush a thin layer onto skin and allow the mask
to take effect for 15-20 minutes. Remove mask with warm damp compresses.
Massage: Using a generous amount of ThalassO Night Cream massage the skin under steam for approximately 5-8
minutes. Remove any cream that did not penetrate with tissue, cotton or gauze.
Completion of Treatment: Apply the remainder of the HIGH-EFFECTIVE CONCENTRATE, massage in lightly.
Day Protection and Evening Protection: T- TIME DAY & NIGHT, Eye Mask (refer to section 8), Eye Cream (refer
to section 8). Suntime (refer to section 14) and light make-up may be applied if desired.

GOLDEN LINE - A NEW CHANCE FOR THE SKIN
Treatment for Menopausal women
The GOLDEN LINE series represents a major step forward in cosmetics. GOLDEN LINE features a new form of
active substance complex based on *bioflavones and *vitamins which can have a noticeably positive effect on the
light-induced aging process of the skin.
• GOLDEN LINE D
A mild, water based, day cream with *bioflavone-vitamin-complex. *Bioflavones in conjunction with *vitamins
give the skin a smoother and more radiant appearance. Lines and wrinkles become shallower and the complexion
more even, thus giving it a more youthful appearance. GOLDEN LINE D should be applied sparingly in the
morning after cleansing and toning and massaged gently into the skin. In case of very dry skin the normal day
cream (e.g. Crème Hydratante) may be used in addition. Nevertheless GOLDEN LINE D should be applied first of
all, allowed to take effect for a few minutes and the day cream applied after this.
• GOLDEN LINE N
Night cream, (water-in-oil emulsion) with *bioflavone-vitamin-complex. As phyto-estrogens, bioflavones aid the
regeneration of more mature skin. They give the skin a smoother and more youthful appearance. Bioflavones are
particularly active at night because during this time the skins own regeneration mechanism is at work.
GOLDEN LINE N should be applied in the evening following cleansing and toning and massaged gently into the
skin.
41
combination with fruit acid facilitates the penetration of the active substances, thereby increasing their
effectiveness.
Application: Following cleansing spread the Bioflavone Serum over the face, neck and décolleté and massage in
gently. In order to obtain the optimum effect, the skin should be steamed for 10 minutes. During the first two
weeks of the GOLDEN LINE cure you should also provide your client with the bioflavone serum for treatment at
home.
Phase 2 of the treatment: Apply GOLDEN LINE Bioflavone Massage Oil; perform the pressure point massage (25-
30 minutes).
Conclusion: During the massage, the Massage Oil is worked well into the skin and remains on the skin. Please do
not remove if possible.
Thereafter, apply Gel Hydratante sparingly as well as light make-up if so wished.
Recommendation for Curative Treatment: Depending on the age and condition of the skin, 6 - 10 treatments
twice a year.
Home Regimen:
GOLDEN LINE D in the morning and GOLDEN LINE N in the evening.
If the condition of the skin is in particular need of regeneration, Crème Hydratante (refer to section 8) may also
be included in the day treatment. In this case, a couple of minutes should be allowed to elapse after the
application of GOLDEN LINE D before continuing with the application of Crème Hydratante. During the first
weeks of the cure, the additional use of GOLDEN LINE Serum at home is recommended. Apply the Serum in the
evening following cleansing and toning, wait for a few minutes and then continue with GOLDEN LINE N.

BLUE LINE – THE SOPHISTICATED SKIN CARE RANGE
After the age of thirty, the skin needs increased care. Elasticity begins to reduce and the balance of moisture and
skin oils needs support. The products in the BLUE LINE are devised precisely for these needs and offer the ideal
skin care ingredients, such as Phyto-Collastin and vitamins.
43
• GEL HYDRATANTE
Special moisturizing gel which, increases the ability of the skin to retain moisture. To be used in the morning
before applying Crème Hydratante, and in the evening before applying Crème Regenerative. Contains *NMF
(Natural Moisturizing Factor) and *Phyto-Collastin.
• CREME HYDRATANTE
Day Cream, a water based emulsion with the addition of *hyaluronic acid, *vitamin E and *Phyto-Collastin.
Crème Hydratante is a light consistency cream. Its high concentration of *Phyto-Collastin combined with
*hyaluronic acid produces an efficient and lasting hydration of the skin. As a result, Crème Hydratante is not only
superbly suited for the care of the more mature skin, but also for the care of skin which is dry as a result of age or
climate. The strength and appearance of the skin is visibly improved through the use of Crème Hydratante.
For home use: Crème Hydratante is intended as a daytime protection for long- term use.
For restoring condition of the skin, e.g. post-treatment for skin impurities, or for erysipelas, the cream should be
applied as an intensive treatment in the morning and in the evening.
• CREME REGENERATIVE
Night Cream, water/oil emulsion the consistency is light (soft cream) with added *Phyto-Collastin, *vitamin A
and *ATP, the energy supply for the cells. Crème Regenerative is, as a result of its selected oils and lipids, an
exceptionally smooth cream. It is particularly suited to the treatment of more mature skin, especially one, which
has been exposed to strong sunlight.
It should, however, also be used for intensive treatment from the age of thirty in cases where the skin is dry or
prone to wrinkles. Apart from its advantages in caring for the skin, by means of the oils and lipids it contains,
*Phyto-Collastin which brings about an improvement in the condition of the skin, i.e. the elasticity of the skin is
increased and the moisture content heightened. *Vitamin A increases the enzymatic activity of the skin.
For use in the salon: Crème Regenerative is eminently suitable as a high-quality massage cream.
For home use: Crème Regenerative should be used on a long-term basis as a night care preparation, while, as a
course of treatment, it is advisable to apply Crème Regenerative as a day and night protection.
• EYE CREAM
Water/oil emulsion which has a light consistency (soft cream) with added *Phyto-Collastin and *jojoba oil. The
area surrounding the eyes is one of the parts of the skin, which are especially in need of care, as its fine connective
tissue easily tends to form wrinkles because of the comparatively loose combination of cells and fibers.
By virtue of the *Phyto-Collastin, Eye Cream has a hydrating effect on the skin, thus counteracting the formation
of wrinkles. For daytime care, apply Eye Cream in gentle strokes beneath the eyes from the outside to the inside,
and for night care all the way around the eyes. Avoid rubbing and pulling the tender skin tissue around the eyes.
• EYE MASK
A refreshing, firming, quick and effective eye mask, which smoothes away eye wrinkles, revives tired eyes and
results in a radiant appearance. A Hydro-gel base with *fibrostimulines, *aloe vera, *meristem extract and
*panthenol. Non-fragranced, the pH value harmonizes with tear fluid.
Various uses:
1. Apply as a mask, wafer thin, all around the eyes, allow 15 mins. to take effect. Remove with warm eye
compresses.
2. As additional daily care for the eye region. Apply thinly, dab in gently and leave on the skin.
Gives a fresh appearance and imparts a cooling, tautening feeling to the region around the eyes.
44
• CREME BUSTE
Water/oil emulsion with a light consistency (soft cream) contains a special *vitamin-E complex, *Phyto-Collastin
and the skin *vitamins A and *E. Neck and bust, due to their tissue structure, require special attention and
cosmetic treatment. With Crème Buste an effective product has been made available to preparative cosmetics.
Through the regular use of Crème Buste, both in the salon and at home, a visible improvement in tone of the skin
and strength of the tissue is achieved. The skin feels soft and supple to the touch, and gains a silken sheen without
being shiny. This improvement in the skin's condition can be attributed to the *vitamin-E complex whose
hydrative value is effectively supported by the addition of *Phyto-Collastin.
The Crème Buste should generally be used to supplement day and night care.
• CREME REPARATIVE
A water based emulsion (soft cream) with added *mucopolysaccharides, *panthenol and *allantoin. Crème
Reparative was specially developed for the treatment of scars of different origin. Its effective principle consists in
the hydration of the scar tissue. Scars represent an imperfect tissue replacement and consist of connective tissue.
The older the scar is, the less resilient the fibers of the connective tissue will be. This results in the scar shrinking,
hardening and may even lead to limited mobility.
To counter-act the tissue change effectively, it is necessary to apply Crème Reparative not only in the salon but
also as a course of treatment at home. Crème Reparative should be applied twice daily to the scarred area.
Special Note: In general, only fully healed and non-irritated scars should be treated. The sooner the scar is
treated, the greater the success.
• CERASOMES HYDRATANTE
Concentrated active ingredients in individual gelatine capsules. Each capsule is sufficient for one
application to the face, neck and décolleté. The recipe is based on ceramides. The structure of these
corresponds to human skin lipids, thus they are absorbed particularly well by the skin. A valuable
distillate of sesame oil mainly provides its ‘non-saponifiable' parts and *linoleic acid. Cerasomes
Hydratante supply the skin with important moisturizing substances like *avocado oil and *milk protein.
•
• CERASOMES REGENERATIVE W/ RETINOL
Gelatine capsules (with a structure like Cerasomes Hydratante) containing important substances to nourish and
care for the skin, e.g. special active regeneration ingredients and a high concentration of *vitamins A and E,
important for the skin.
• FOND DE TEINT
A water based emulsion with an especially smooth consistency, available in three shades.
In addition to color pigments suited to the skin, it contains special oils, which spread easily on the skin.
Apply Fond de Teint foundation cream over the day care base appropriate to the skin type. Fond de
Teint gives the skin a silky matte sheen.
45
Cleansing: CLEANSING Oil or CLEANSING Milk followed with CLEANSING Tonic (refer to section 1 for all the
above)
Exfoliation: CLEANSING Peeling (refer to section 1)
Main treatment: Apply one of the following depending on condition of the skin: Liposomes Phyto-Collastin (refer
to section 11), Cerasomes Hydratante/Regenerative (refer to section 8)
Massage: Apply a generous amount of Crème Regenerative and massage the skin under steam until all has
penetrated
Mask: Apply a thin layer of Maske Regenerative to entire face, neck and décolleté, saturate cotton with Eye
Tonic (refer to section 13) and cover the eye area. Remove the mask after 10-15 minutes with warm damp
compresses.
Completion of Treatment: Wipe face with CLEANSING Tonic (refer to section 1). Apply either the Gel
Hydratante or Crème Hydratante depending on skin condition, follow with Eye Cream and Eye Mask. Fond
de Teint may be applied if desired.
This deep penetration would not be possible using an emulsion, as the Liposomes would dissolve too rapidly in
such an environment. ROSA GRAF has, therefore, chosen the gel-former *hyaluronic acid as carrier and transport
system. *Hyaluronic acid has the added advantage of having a high moisture retention property. In ampoule
form, Four Season Liposomes provide a highly efficient skin-care concentrate.
Four Season Liposomes contain no emulsifier, preservatives or synthetic perfume oils. The liposomes should be
applied, morning and evening, to the cleansed skin, and massaged in lightly with a circular motion.
46
PHYTO-COLLASTIN
• PHYTO-COLLASTIN SOLUTION WITH LIPOSOMES
A water based emulsion with active ingredients encapsulated in liposomes. A treatment product and optimum
care for the more mature and demanding skin. Interacting with the *vitamins A and E and also with *borage oil,
Phyto-Collastin improves the moisture content and elasticity of the skin. *Vitamin A takes care of improved cell
regeneration and *vitamin E, acting as a radical blocker, protects the skin from premature, light-induced aging.
*Borage oil contains gamma linoleic acid, an essential fatty acid of great significance to the skin.
Phyto-Collastin Solution is especially suitable for use as a treatment for sun-tired skin, e.g. after a holiday. For
particularly intensive care, Phyto-Collastin Solution should be applied before the usual day or night care. Apply to
the cleansed face and massage into the skin. Allow a little time for absorption, and then follow up with the
appropriate skin cream.
• COLLASTIN MASK
The Collastin Mask is a professional Mask for the whole face. It is used as a part of the salon treatment. (refer to
section 19)
• CAMOMILE PACK
A water based cream Mask with *camomile extract, *guaiazulene, *kaolin and *panthenol. Camomile Pack
alleviates irritation of the skin and is particularly suitable for treating sensitive and dry skin conditions, as well as
thread veins or erysipelas.
Apply Camomile Pack wafer-thin to face, neck and décolleté, allow 10-15 minutes to take effect and remove with
a warm, damp viscose sponge.
47
The way the Bran Yeast Pack works is complex. The skin is relieved of oily remnants, flaking skin and residues
without adversely affecting the acid protection mantle of the skin. The high concentration of vitamins of the B
group in the *yeast has a normalizing effect on the secretion of sebum. Apart from the bacteriostatic effect on
coryne bacteria, the bacteriostatic also has an antimycotic effect. *Bisabolol has a soothing and anti-irritant effect.
The Bran Yeast Pack is superbly suited for enlarged pores, blemished, oily skin. Mature, dry and sensitive skin
also benefits from this mask. The over-all appearance of the skin improves, the pores contract and the skin seems
smoother and finer.
Apply wafer-thin to face, neck and décolleté, after 10-15 minutes remove with lukewarm water.
For professional treatment of acne Camomile Paste (refer to section 13) may be applied to inflamed areas
previous to Bran Yeast Mask.
• THERMO MASK
A cream mask with a base of hydrogel-oil, and water containing the active ingredient *niacinmethylester. Thermo
Mask has a revitalizing and warming effect on the skin and improves its capacity to absorb active ingredients in
the ensuing treatment. The mask can be used before any type of treatment, especially in the case of tired and
atrophied skin.
Apply wafer-thin, and remove with lukewarm water when application begins to take effect (depending on type
of skin - after 30 to 180 seconds).
Important note: Thermo Mask must not come into contact with mucous membranes (eyes etc.)
• LECITHIN MASK
A*soybean oil and water based cream nutrient mask containing *lecithin, *vitamin A, through carrot oil, *vitamin
E through *wheat germ oil and essential fatty acids. All types of cells contain life-essential lecithin. If applied to
dry and mature skin it acts as a natural moisturizing factor balancing the moisture level of the skin. *Vitamin A, as
epithelium-protection vitamin, in combination with *vitamin E and *essential fatty acids protects against
hyperkeratosis and dryness of the skin. This mask is ideal care for skin, which lacks oil and moisture, as well as skin
prone to atrophy. The overall appearance will be improved.
Apply wafer-thin to face, neck and décolleté and remove after 10-15 minutes with tepid water.
• PHYTO MASK
A water based cream mask, ideal for dry and atrophic skin. It contains *phytostimulin, a biological complex of
ingredients extracted from wheat germ which consists of *enzymes, *vitamins and *phytohormones, as well as
*wheat germ oil with its high content of *vitamin E and *essential fatty acids.
Professional Treatment: Very good in combination with Lecithin Mask: first stimulate with Phyto Mask, then
nourish with Lecithin Mask. Phyto Mask has a stimulating, stabilizing and moisture absorbing effect. With regular
use it improves the tonus and turgor of the skin.
Apply wafer-thin to face, neck and décolleté and remove after 10-15 minutes with tepid water.
Applications:
- As enzyme exfoliation
Mix approx. 6 g of the Mineral Mud Mask powder with 10 ml of cold distilled water and stir well. Then add:
a. for sensitive skin: 0.5 - 1.0 ml MULTIPULLE PEELING (refer to section 18)
48
b. for normal skin: 1.0 - 1.5 ml MULTIPULLE PEELING (refer to section 18)
c. for thicker/oily skin: maxim. 2.0 ml MULTIPULLE PEELING (refer to section 18)
Stir the mixture well and apply with a brush. Allow taking effect for 10-15 minutes. Keep it well moistened either
with steam or by the applying moist and warm compresses. When using compresses, cover the Mineral Mud
Mask with paper tissue; then place the compress over it. Remove with warm water.
Note: Never apply the MULTIPULLE PEELING (refer to section 18) concentrate to the skin in a pure state, only in
a mixture with the Mineral Mud Mask.

SUNTIME special
Press release New York, 15 May 2003
Dear Sirs
We present SUNTIME special, a new concept for effective protection against the sun which takes into account the
latest scientific findings.
Conventional sun screening agents also contain risks for the skin and the environment, risks which have not yet
been fully evaluated. It was this very topic that led to heated discussions during the most recent congress of the
"German Society for Scientific and Applied Cosmetics", which took place in Potsdam in April of this year.
Professor Ippen warned against the uncontrolled use of combined light protection filters in cosmetic preparations,
as is usual in many of today's products. Although the individual UV-A or UV-B filter substances are harmless in
themselves it cannot be ruled out that combinations of these ingredients may lead to harmful reactions or that the
light protection filters could interact with other ingredients contained in the final product.
Such concerns must certainly be taken seriously. We have the solution: a preparation with a fundamentally new
sun screening principle which excludes all the risks mentioned and also offers a hitherto unknown long-term effect
- SUNTIME.
SUNTIME special is the new sunscreen product for the world market. SUNTIME special offers maximum
protection against the dangerous UV-A and UV-B rays from the sun without the risk of a chemical reaction taking
place between the filter substances because in SUNTIME the UV-A and UV-B filters are separated from each other,
in different, highly specialized liposomes. This liposome effect means that the filter substances remain for a much
longer time within the corneum, and are not washed out by perspiration or water. Therefore, effective protection
for several hours can be guaranteed!
Please read the enclosed information carefully. My colleagues and I will be pleased to answer any questions you
may have.
Yours faithfully
Rosa Graf Cosmetics
Safety first! So choose SUNTIME special for your self and your clients.
The safety of conventional sunscreen products was the subject of heated debate during the most recent congress
of the "German Society for Scientific and Applied Cosmetics", which took place in Potsdam in April of this year.
Professor Ippen warned against the uncontrolled use of combined light protection filters in cosmetic preparations,
as is usual in many of today's products.
51
Although the individual, approved UV-A or UV-B filter substances are harmless in themselves it cannot be ruled
out that combinations of these ingredients may lead to harmful reactions or that the filter substances could
interact with other components contained in the final product, e.g. preserving agents. However, up until now no
research has been undertaken into whether the substances concerned react with each other in the final product
and, if so, how. Even the methods required for investigating this have not yet been fully developed. Nevertheless,
there already appears to be firm evidence to support Professor Ippen's concern.
A number of frequently used light protection filters belong to the families of chemical compounds known as the
benzophenones and the cinnamates. Under certain conditions these substances could react with each other in a
sunscreen preparation, giving rise to a large number of reaction products, the possible toxicity of each one of
which has still to be investigated. For example, a study carried out by the Federal Health Office revealed that
benzophenones become chlorinated in chlorine water (as is present in every swimming pool); the compounds
thus formed may be toxic or carcinogenic.
Micro pigments
A further problem area is the micro pigments which are used in many sunscreen products in addition to chemical
filters in order to physically reflect the rays of the sun. The situation was presented quite clearly by Professor
Ippen: although pigments such as the widely used titanium dioxide are harmless, it was not safe to simply assume
that the values applicable to titanium dioxide also applied to micronized variations. Micronized titanium dioxide
has a considerably smaller particle size than "normal" titanium dioxide. As the behavior of a substance both on
and in the skin can certainly be affected by its particle size, the behavior of micronized titanium dioxide on the
skin, including the penetration capability, must be re-evaluated from scratch before this micronized pigment
should be considered as a harmless ingredient in sunscreen products. The manufacturers have not yet presented
any proof of this whatsoever.
The summer months bring with them the desire to seek out the sunshine with its life-giving, beneficial and
stimulating forces. However, the fact that the lovely rays can also have negative effects, above all on human skin,
is also generally accepted. Premature ageing of the skin, wrinkles, unsightly spots, thin lemon-peel skin and the
risk of skin cancer can all be put down to too much sun. .
Nevertheless, almost all cultures still regard the ideal "healthy" body as one with a good tan. It does not have to
be a dark chocolate color, which may result after a holiday or a visit to the local pool, but an overall golden tan
is appealing. At the same time we try to protect our skin. Before each sunbathing session we rub in a generous
amount of a special sunscreen product. The higher the light protection factor, the safer we feel, above all when
the label on the bottle promises us the combined effect of UV-B and UV-A filters, possibly backed-up by micro
pigments which are supposed to reflect the sun's rays like a mirror.
Recently, at the congress of the "German Society for Scientific and Applied Cosmetics" in Potsdam, the
professionals uttered a warning which we should be taking seriously. Many modern light protection products
contain combinations of various filter substances node to absorb both UV-B and UV-A rays. The individual
substances may well be completely harmless but it cannot be ruled out that combinations of these ingredients
within a product could lead to reactions between these substances, resulting in the formation of compounds
which might be harmful to the skin or to the environment. Apart from that, the possible reactions between filter
substances and other ingredients in the products have not yet been adequately researched. A study carried out by
the Federal Health Office appears to confirm these fears. Benzophenones (a class of substance often employed as
a light protection filter) tend to react with the chlorine present in chlorine water (with which every swimming
52
pool is filled). Among the multitude of reaction products are some which may be toxic or carcinogenic.
Even micro pigments may not represent the perfect solution, as seemed the case up until now. It is true that
pigments such as the frequently used titanium dioxide can be classed as harmless, but to date, no-one has come
forward with proof that the micronized version of this pigment is also harmless. As the behavior of chemical
substances on the skin is certainly influenced by their particle size, micro pigments in sunscreen products must be
reinvestigated to confirm their safety. A renowned German manufacturer of cosmetics has decided not to wait for
the official confirmation of all these matters, but instead to act now. It is launching a completely new sunscreen
product onto the world market - SUNTIME. Its unique formulation excludes possible reaction dangers from the
outset but at the same time offers high protection against UV-B and UV-A radiation. The individual filter
substances - finely separated from each other - are encapsulated in different liposomes so that they cannot react
with each other within the product. Apart from that, as the filter substances are liposomed-based, they do not
remain on the skin, where they can be easily washed away, but on the contrary, become established in the
corneum. This results in a greatly prolonged protection against the sun. The manufacturer reports a light
protection action lasting several hours (depending on skin type and degree of previous exposure, up to eight
hours!), and this is not impaired by swimming or perspiration. This means that only one careful application of
SUNTIME is necessary in order to remain protected the whole day long. This advantage will be especially
welcomed by stressed parents, for they will now be able to watch as their offspring play alternately on the beach

This new product is already available from many outlets for cosmetics products.

- Filter substances do not get in contact with the other ingredients and penetrate purely into the skin
V. FREE OF OILS
Advantage: - High degree of absorption, non-oily
VI. WATERPROOF
Advantage: - No requirement for reapplication, even after water sports - no loss of sun protection through
perspiration
The water breaks the incoming rays in the hollow beads that are forming several layers on the skin. This
considerably reduces the penetration of harmful rays. Because of this system approx. 40-50 % less of chemical
filters are needed to protect the skin. The intolerability of conventional products is much decreased by this
system. Only the rest of the rays act then on our approved light protection filters.

Skin that is accustomed to the sun has its own natural protection. This natural
protection must be watched carefully. The desired, golden colouring to the skin is
formed by the effects of the sun on the filtering substance in the skin known as
Description "melanin“, which is progressively distributed throughout the epidermis. The
pigmentation that is formed absorbs and limits the penetration of the harmful UV
rays. SUNTIME medium SPF 18 is therefore the ideal sun cream for less sensitive
skin that is used to the sun.

AMPOULES
MULTIPULLE
The best combination of Nature and Science. Concentrated complexes of active ingredients to solve skin
problems.
Each Multipulle bottle contains 30 ml of a concentrated complex of active ingredients, sufficient for 15 treatments
or individual portions for the customer. Each bottle comes with a 2 ml syringe, making correct dosages for each
treatment or portion simple.
Practical mini bottles (empty cap ampoules) are also supplied for you to fill with the syringe, allowing you to sell
or give to your customer small quantities for skin care at home.
Application:
The active ingredients can develop their greatest effect if the concentrate is used prior to the appropriate mask.
All active ingredients of the Multipulle can be used in various ways: they can be introduced by iontophoresis,
massaged in by hand or using the steamer. Special application: Half of the 2 ml portion is applied under the mask
and the other half is spread on the skin and massaged in before the massage cream.
If you give your customer a mini-bottle for home care, the concentrate should be applied after evening cleansing
and lightly massaged in. Use the regular night care afterwards.
If unopened the Multipulle concentrates can be kept for 3 years; please use within 3 months after opening.
Important: All MULTIPULLE Concentrates (with the exception of Multipulle Peeling) can be introduced by
iontophoresis under positive polarity (+). They can be mixed with each other for special treatment purposes. The
time recommended is given with the individual descriptions.

4 min.
• MULTIPULLE CLEARING
For the treatment of blemished skin which tends to form comedones, papulae and pimples. The Clearing
concentrate should be used directly after thorough cleansing or after deep cleansing. It contains lactic acid, which
has a keratolytic effect, cleansing cucumber extract and urea, which promotes improved moisture balance.
4 min.

peptides and a special active ingredient ensure the skin is firmed and toned.
3 min.
• MULTIPULLE CALMING
Particularly effective on irritated skin, e.g. after excess exposure to the sun or for overreaction after exfoliation or
heat treatment. Contains natural sweet almond protein with its cooling effect and panthenol, an active ingredient
to ease irritation. 4 min.
• MULTIPULLE REPAIRING
To promote the skin's own regeneration, e.g. when it has been exposed to the sun, or also for more mature skin.
Contains a ribonucleic complex, which provides the skin with special nucleotides for it to use in its repair process.
This is combined with a wheat hydrolysate to increase the ability of the skin to store moisture. The skin feels
smoother. 5 min.
59
• MULTIPULLE OGYGENATING
For tired, pale skin, e.g. smoker's complexion, which tends to look dull. Contains an effective plant-based
stimulant for cell-respiration to increase the presence
of oxygen in the cells, simultaneously revitalizing them. 4 min.
• MULTIPULLE PROTECTING
Skin protection for all skin types. The skin is especially subjected to aggressive environmental influences, in
particular in the summer season, the major risk coming from free radicals. "Protecting" concentrate contains the
omega-CH activator, which is particularly effective in neutralizing free radicals and especially those responsible for
premature aging of the skin. In addition, the ability of the skin to store moisture is improved. 3 min.
• MULTIPULLE ANTI-CELLULITE
For effective treatment of cellulite symptoms. The component glycolic acid loosens the outer structure of the cells
forming the epidermis, allowing the active ingredients to be subsequently introduced more easily. Extracts of
caffeine and ivy reinforce and stimulate the reduction of fat cells. 2 min.
• MULTIPULLE PEELING
For performing an enzymatic exfoliation. Please use only in connection with the ROSA GRAF MINERAL MUD
MASK, do not apply to the skin in a pure state! The Peeling concentrate is not suitable for the iontophoresis.
The Peeling concentrate is based on a purely vegetable enzyme complex, obtained from fruit such as papayas and
lemons. It removes the dead horny cells not yet shed and leads to a finer, fresher cutification. The peeling process
contributes to a normalization of the skin condition and is particularly effective for hyperkeratinization, oily and
problem skin.
Applications: Mix approx. 0.21 Oz powdered ROSA GRAF MINERAL MUD MASK with 10 ml distilled water and
stir well. Then add
Stir the mixture well, apply with a brush. Allow taking effect for 10-15 minutes. Keep well moistened, either with
steam or through the application of moist and warm compresses: when using compresses cover the Mineral Mud
Mask with paper tissue, then place the compress over it. Remove with warm water.
To conclude the treatment, always condition with a CLEANSING Tonic appropriate for the skin type.
The MINERAL MUD MASK is a soothing mask made from healing mud and kaolin. It can be used in three
different ways for salon treatments:
The positive effects of healing mud have been known for hundreds of years. It has already been in use for a wide

BOTANICAL DESCRIPTION. A Linearis is a shrub of half a meter to two meters in height, with bright green,
needle-shaped leaves, which turn a rich reddish-brown color upon fermentation. The small, yellow, typically
pea-shaped flowers are produced in spring and early summer. Morphologically, chemically and genetically the
species is exceptionally variable. Only one type is commercially cultivated: the so-called Red type or Rocklands
type - originally from the Pakhuis Pass area. “Red Bush” tea should not be confused with honeybush tea (Cyclopia
species). “Red Bush” tea is a traditional beverage of the Khoi-descended people of the Clanwilliam region in the
Cape, and is one of only a few indigenous plants that have become an important commercial crop. Local people
harvested the wild plants and produced tea by a process of cutting (the twigs and leaves) with axes, bruising them
with wooden hammers, fermenting the product in heaps and finally drying it.
MEDICINAL USES. The main medicinal use of “Red Bush” tea is as a milk substitute for infants who are prone to
colic. It is considered to have significant antispasmodic activity. “Red Bush” tea is also popular as a health
beverage, because it contains no harmful stimulants and is totally devoid of caffeine. There is growing evidence
that flavonoids contribute substantially to a reduction in heart disease and other ailments associated with aging.
“Red Bush” tea is also used as an ingredient in cosmetics, as there have been claims that it is beneficial in cases of
eczema.
PREPARATION AND DOSAGE. “Red Bush” tea is popular as a health beverage, prepared and used in much the
same way as black tea. It has gained popularity as an excellent iced tea.
ACTIVE INGREDIENTS. The health properties of “Red Bush” tea are ascribed mainly to the low tannin content,
the high levels of minerals and the free-radical capturing properties of some unique flavonoids, of which the
C-glucoside dihydrochalcones aspalathin and nothofagin are the most important.
DISTRIBUTION. The plant is endemic to the western parts of the South African Cape, and occurs naturally from
the Cape Peninsula northwards to Nieuwoudtville. Commercial cultivation is centered in the Nieuwoudtville,
Glanwilliam, Citrusdal and Piquetberg districts.

AMPOULES OF ACTIVE SUBSTANCE LIPOSOMES
Liposomes are particularly suited for the intensive treatment of certain skin conditions as they are able to carry
their active ingredients deep into the skin where they can best take effect. The Blue Line active substance
Liposomes may be introduced through iontophoresis.
• LIPOSOMES MERISTEM
The *meristem extract which is won from the growth tissue of deciduous wood, serves as a fast soother for
irritated skin. Together with *vitamins A, E, and C, meristem extract functions as an additional adversary against
the cell destroying "free radicals". Liposomes are the active ingredient carriers and are stabilized by *hyaluronic
acid.
• LIPOSOMES PHYTO-COLLASTIN
The concentrated active ingredient Phyto-Collastin leads to hybridization and improvement in skin elasticity.
Liposomes Phyto-Collastin is thus ideal for treating more mature or even sun-damaged skin.

SCAR TREATMENT
Crème Reparative has been developed for this cosmetic special treatment. With this preparation, not only acne
scarring, but also operation and accident scars can be successfully treated.
The principle of the treatment with Crème Reparative is an extremely strong hydration of the dry scar tissue with
a simultaneous slackening of the tissue.
Professional Treatment:
The treatment should be started as soon as possible, but not before cicatrization has taken place and the tissue has
healed completely. The treatment should be planned on a twice-weekly basis. The following scheme has proved
successful: three treatments using Crème Reparative, the fourth, dry abrasion etc.
Massage Crème Reparative gently into the well cleansed scar tissue, cover with Thermo Mask and (depending on
the sensitivity) leave to work until a reddening of the treatment area has been achieved. Remove with damp
compresses and massage Crème Reparative in once more.
67
Iontophoresis may also take place using Crème Reparative. Induce with minus, remaining in subliminal area;
dampen active electrode (working electrode) with salt water and continue to keep damp with water.
Dry abrasion: apply cream evenly, allow to dry completely and then abrade using either sponge pad or abrasive
stone.
Home Treatment:
At least twice a day, gently massage in Crème Reparative to the area in question. Length of treatment: this
depends on various factors. Generally one can say that success is more rapid in the case of "fresh" scars than in
that of old ones. In the same way, success is more rapid in the case of younger clients than in that of older ones,
as, in the first mentioned, better body regeneration can be expected.
Caution: Crème Reparative should not be allowed to come in contact with the eyes, as it can give rise to an itchy
irritation.
Treatment in the Salon: After cleansing with AMINTAmed Wash carry out a facial scrub with Multipulle Peeling.
Mix MP Peeling with water and Mineral Mud Mask according to the state of the skin. (See information on
Multipulle Peeling). Keep damp using a steam appliance with ozone. Rinse off well.
To disencrust: apply half a Tonikumyn 917 ampoule. Cover with gauze and steam for 10 mins, using vaporizer
with ozone. Remove comedones and disinfect with AmintaMed Tonic.
Apply half a Tonikumyn 911 ampoule by hand, or induce iontophoretically. After removing the comedones, a
partial Chlorophyll Mask may be applied. It is cooling and astringent. Condition with AMINTAmed Tonic.
If a high-frequency appliance is available treat the face and neck with the surface electrode or the so-called
"handle" electrode.
In the case of non-infected impurities, AMINTAmed Balance may be used to massage.
If necessary, a lymph drainage may be carried out. Spread Camomile Paste thickly over the areas in question and
cover the whole face with Bran Yeast Pack. Allow to take effect for 2 minutes, and then remove with tepid
water. Finally finish with AMINTAmed Balance.
The treatment should take place once a week until the blemishes have faded.
Home Treatment:
Cleanse with AMINTAmed Wash or CLEANSING Milk.
Condition with AMINTAmed Tonic
Apply AMINTAmed Balance in the morning, and AMINTAmed Balm in the evening.
Twice weekly, alternate a Bran Yeast Pack with a Tonikumyn 911 ampoule.
Apply Camomile Paste and/or AMINTAmed Antispot daily to the affected areas.
Professional and Home Treatment: Massage with a massage glove or hard brush (in the salon a brush and
abrasive appliance) until a vigorous blood circulation is achieved.
68
Apply Tonikumyn 954 (refer to section 17) and massage in. Now, rub in the THALASSO Thermo (refer to
ThalassO section). This treatment should be continued daily until the desired effect takes place. The length of time
depends on the state of the atrophy.
Caution: THALASSO Thermo is highly stimulating to the circulation. In rare cases a heightened reaction can set in,
which, however, disappears within a few days.
Do not allow THALASSO Thermo to come into contact with mucous membranes. Always wash hands thoroughly
after use.
69
Treatment in the Salon:
Dry-brush briskly, in a clockwise direction until the skin reddens (2-3minutes). Preferably with a brush-and-
abrasion apparatus using the hard brush.
Cover the area with hot compresses and allow taking effect.
Apply THALASSO Thermo and massage in.
Carry out a connective-tissue massage (7-10 minutes)
Infra Red Lamp or heat blanket may be used to aid in deeper penetration after massage.
In case of combined salon/home treatment, allow for 1-2 salon treatments per week and home treatment on the
remaining days.
Home Treatment:
Working clockwise, dry brush for 2-3mins, with a hard brush until the skin reddens.
Wet a towel, preferably with hot water, lay it on the abdomen and allow taking effect.
Apply THALASSO Thermo and massage in.
Then using both hands, knead the abdomen slowly in clockwise circles for 5-7 mins.
Follow the above instructions daily.
The success of the treatment is apparent in a gradual improvement. Depending on the age of the client and, in
particular, the age and intensity of the stretch marks, it will take from 3-6 weeks for a marked improvement.
Success depends on regular, daily execution.
The more intensive treatment in the salon hastens the success. In addition, through the use of interference current,
an optimum result can be achieved.
70
Treatment in the Salon: Dry brush with a large hard brush (brush and abrasion apparatus)
Electrophysical stimulation should be applied with interference or stimulating current, if the necessary apparatus is
available. (Sono Sound Machine). Apply until the skin reddens. Otherwise massage the connective tissue by hand.
Apply THALASSO Thermo (refer to ThalassO section) generously and massage in well. Remove any remains. Use
red-lamp for deeper penetration or heat blanket.
Home Treatment: Massage briskly with a massage glove, hard brush or hot shower. Apply THALASSO Thermo
(Refer to ThalassO section) generously, and massage in well. Remove any residue.
This should be done daily, except on the days treatment takes place in the salon.
If deep heat treatment is being carried out in the salon, omit the dry scrub. Finish off, at all cost, by massaging
THALASSO Thermo (Refer to ThalassO section) well into the skin. The combination of deep heat and
electrophysical treatment is ideal.
Caution: Wash hands carefully after using THALASSO Thermo. THALASSO Thermo should not come into contact
with mucous membranes.
Treatment Plan:
Cleansing: (refer to section 1) with a product suitable for the skin in question.
The effect can be enhanced by the application of a Thermo Mask (refer to section 12). Allow the Thermo Mask
(refer to section 12) to take effect until the skin around the edges turns pink (60-180 seconds) Cleanse remains of
the mask off thoroughly with warm compresses.
Exfoliation: Use enzymatic exfoliation of Mineral Mud Mask and Multipulle Peeling (refer to section 12), Heitland
Cleansing Peeling (refer to section 1), or ThalassO Peel (refer to ThalassO section) in the case of corneous skin, a
sloughing improves the effect of the Collastin mask.
Main Treatment: Using a brush, apply a wafer-thin application of Algae Moisture Mask (refer to section 12) as a
"transfer agent" for the tissue-similar Collastin Mask. Only when the Collastin Mask is completely in place is the
active substance uniformly dispensed to the skin. Apply the Collastin Mask dry, beginning at the nose, and
gradually press the mask on gently. It may be necessary to snip areas with scissors if there are particularly
protuberant facial features.
Now steam the face for 20 minutes with a steaming appliance, which should be placed slightly closer than usual.
Alternatively, it is possible to work with compresses.
Remove the Algae Moisture Mask with warm compresses.
Nicotinate: This substance is derived from vitamin E. It ensures gentle promotion of circulation without
producing any heat.
Apply Crème Regenerative (refer to section 8) and finish the treatment with a massage. Remove the remains of
the cream with warm compresses and tone the skin. Apply Gel Hydratante (refer to section 8) and Crème
Hydratante (refer to section 8) as a daytime protection.
In the colors natural (naturel), medium beige (beige moyen) and sun (soleil)

nature needs a helping hand Liposome Essential for Mature Skin is the ideal night treatment. Each liposome
globule contains Hyaluronic Acid with vitamin A "Retinol" and vitamin E to promote cell division, regeneration
and balance the moisture of the skin. It is also the perfect defense against free radical damage and premature
aging.
Active Ingredients: Hyaluronic acid, NMF, and vitamins A Retinol and E.
Application: Each globule is measured out in a dose amount needed for face and neck. Mix a small portion of
gel with globule and apply onto cleansed skin.

• MASQUE RELAXE relaxing mask
The Masque Relaxe is a caring and above all relaxing mask for all skin types. It contains skin soothing and
irritation reducing active ingredients such as camomile extract and panthenol as well as anti-inflammation agents
as allantoin in a gentle, slightly cooling hydrogel foundation.
Active Ingredients: camomile extract, panthenol, liquorice extract, allantoin, hyaluronic acid and NMF
Application: After the effect taking time of approx. 15-20 minutes, the mask can remain on the skin by means of
the remains being patted in lightly.
74
An additional recommendation: care with the Crème Activant Sensationnel is assisted by exercise in the fresh air
since this encourages the supply of oxygen from within. If sufficient oxygen is released via the lung to the natural
oxygen carrier, the hemoglobin, the cells can work best of all.
• ABRASIVE PASTE
The abrasive paste contains abrasive substances (sea sand and pumice stone) in a special gel base. The paste is not
scented. The F-scraping paste is recommended for the gentle wet and dry scraping of thick, atrophic, large pored
and greasy skin.
• IONTOCUTIN C - GEL
Lontocutin C gel contains rosemary oil, nicotinic acid methylester and mucopolysaccharides in a hydrophilic base.
It is recommended for firming areas of skin which have become flabby and faded, possibly for example as a result
of reduction measures, as well as upper arms, décolleté and bust or stretch and pregnancy marks. It should be
used in curative treatment in a salon and at home. In the salon lontocutin C gel should be applied and gently
massaged in, either following a dry brush or vibration massage, or prior to electronic treatment with stimulation
or interference current. At home, lontocutin C gel can be massaged in gently in the morning and in the evening
following a brush massage, or applied as thickly as the back of a knife as a mask and washed off after 10 minutes.
Note: lontocutin C gel produces reddening and a slight feeling of warmth, which is however intentional and
which disappears after a short time. Wash your hands thoroughly immediately after application or massaging! The
product should not be allowed to come into contact with mucous membranes. Particularly sensitive areas of the
body such as nipples and armpits should be excluded from the treatment. Always work partially and not over
large areas, as the increased blood circulation could lead to general circulation problems. Do not use on sensitive
skin!

The Benguela Current is also associated with the phenomenon of upwelling, this is caused by prevailing
southeasterly winds blowing across the land, pushing the upper waters away from the coastline. The water
moved away at the top of the ocean is replaced by oceanic water from great depth (greater than 200m). At these
great depths (there is no light) and is the site of the major decomposition processes (organic material is
mineralized to constituent nutrients through bacterial and fungal
activity).
The picture opposite shows the process of upwelling.
Water at great depth is much colder than the surface waters, but
it is nutrient rich, when it is carried to the surface layers, light is
available for photosynthesis. The light is utilized by
phytoplankton (single celled "plants") which can use the nutrients
in the presence of light to photosynthesis, this converts sunlight
energy into biological biomass, this biomass becomes ‘food" for
other consuming organisms. Photosynthesis is the basis of all food
chains and therefore the foundation of all life.
The Benguela Current is one of the fastest currents in the world,
the upwelling occurring off the Namibian coastline is amongst the
strongest in the world. The primary production (use of nutrients
and sunlight by phytoplankton) off the Namibian coast under pins a very large fishing industry, without the
upwelling there would not be the same amounts of "food" to support the fishes. During intense periods of
upwelling the surface seawater temperature can be reduced to 8 o C.
In the Southern Ocean, the cold water sinks since it is cold and therefore more dense. At lower levels it picks up
dissolved nutrients from the decomposition of organic material by natural oceanic processes. The water moves at
great depths in the ocean. This water is brought to the surface by periodic and seasonal upwelling off the
southern African coast.
The Benguela is one of the oldest (geologically) currents in the world
The Benguela is one of the strongest flowing current systems.
The Benguela marine food chain is enormously productive and supports some of the highest concentrations of
marine life found anywhere in the world.
The Benguela runs parallel to the coast of southern Africa. The populations here are relatively small. There is
relatively little input from these developments into the sea (compare this to Europe). As a consequence of low
rainfall there is little arable farming on the west coast, as a consequence there’s little if any input of herbicides and
or fertilizers from farms (compare this with Europe). There are very few rivers which flow on the west coast of
southern Africa (many are ephemeral, a number are dammed), this reduces the amount of run-off from land into
the sea and therefore this is an insignificant source of pollution (compare this to the European situation). There is
92
very little industrial development on the west coast of southern Africa and therefore very little industrial run-off
into the sea.
The water, which flows in the Benguela and comes to the surface as part of upwelling originates in the Southern
Ocean, as a result of its isolation, this is amongst the cleanest water in the world. The only other coastline, which
comes close in similarity, is Chile (also coastal desert and west coast upwelling with water from the Southern
Ocean).
The Namibian marine environment is exceptionally productive, supporting abundant marine life and its habitats
are relatively pristine, without threat of significant degradation.
The tip of southern Africa is a major shipping route, but the volume of shipping does not approach that in
European waters. Consequently the amount of oil pollution is relatively low. There are oil and gas exploration
activities in the area but no oil production as yet, therefore no spillage of oil or contamination from these
sources.
The Benguela ecosystem is one of the most pristine marine environments in the world and must be amongst the
least polluted marine environments in the world, for many of the reasons given above. This is the pure source of
major HEITLAND Cosmetics ThalassO product ingredients.

Glossary of Ingredients
AHA cocktail: A cocktail of maleic, tartaric and glycolic acid "skin rejuvenators". The fruit acids directly
counteract one of the main causes of wrinkles and dry skin: excessively thickened, hard skin resulting from a slow
regeneration process. The acids loosen the intercellular "glue" that holds the dead cells to the surface, allowing
them to be shed more quickly and clear the way for the growth of new cells. The skin appears fresher and
smoother. Additionally the skin is cleared of smaller irregularities or impurities - an effect welcomed by many
women, especially at critical times of the month.
ATP: ATP, or adenosine triphosphate, is the energy for the nucleus of the cell. ATP serves to transport energy
into cell metabolism. In the cell, energy is released through ATP in small, biologically useful quantities. This
energy is used in the kinetic, chemical, osmotic, electric or thermal work of the cells. ATP is mainly used for cell
division, biosynthesis and the transport of substances (intra- and extra-cellular transport), and is thus decisive for
the fields of growth and regeneration.
98
Algae: Algae help to repair skin that has been exposed to adverse environmental conditions. It aids in the skins
ability to be able to better protect itself from free radical damage and is a good hydrator for all skin types not
sensitive to seaweed.
Allantoin: A well-proven cosmetic substance. Allantoin is a product of protein metabolism and is present in the
widest variety of plants, i.e. in maple and in wheat germ. It accelerates cell regeneration and promotes the
healing of wounds.
Aloe Vera: Aloe Vera is one of the oldest medicinal plants known to man. Used by ancient Egyptians and Native
Americans, it has remarkable healing abilities. It draws and holds oxygen to the skin masking it an effective
cellular renewal ingredient. With a composition similar to human blood plasma and seawater and a pH the same
as human skin it is extremely soothing and protecting. An added plus is its natural astringent ability.
Alpha Bisabolol: is an integral component of camomile oil. It balances the skin and reduces irritation.
Australian Tea Tree Oil: Cosmetic preparations, which contain Tea Tree Oil, have a strong regulating effect on the
biological functions of the skin. It prevents the skin from harmful environmental influences. It fights bacteria and
fungi and counteracts itching. Tea Tree Oil is an astringent, revitalizing and stimulating. In the past years this
substance has gained worldwide interest due to its outstanding features for the field of cosmetics and
aromatherapy. The oil is derived from the leaves of a certain sort of Tea Tree among the 300 existing kinds. The
"Melaleuca alternifolia" has proven to be the highest quality standard supplier of Tea Tree Oil. The main area of
growth for the Melaleuca alternifolia is located at the North Coast of New South Wales where the climate best
suits the needs of the trees.
Azulene: is a derivative of camomile it is an anti-inflammatory and a bactericide with soothing and regenerating
properties.
Bioflavones: are plant components with various biological functions. One, well-known group are flavonoids, of
which rutin with its tissue strengthening effect is worthy of special mention. The Heitland and Petre active
substance complex contains isoflavonoids. These phyto-estrogens (phyto = vegetable) have a noticeable
regenerating effect on the skin - free from side effects.
Biological Regenerative Complex: is an active substance that stimulates the oxygen intake in the tissues as well as
the cell regenerating activity. Liposomes are the carrier of the substance to where it is needed and they are
stabilized by hyaluronic acid.
Birch leaf: contains flavonoids, tannins and vitamin C aids in regeneration of the skin specifically when dealing
with wound healing. Birch is very blood cleansing and an antiseptic.
Borage Oil: is and extract of Rosemary and an essential fatty acid, containing a high content of gamma linoleic
acid. It increases ceramides in the skin by five times during one-week use. Borage oil also boosts the skins natural
barrier functions.
Caffeic Acid: is found in various fruit and vegetable plants. In the Depigmentation Cream it supports the
bleaching activity and has a sunscreen effect.
Calendula Oil: is extracted form the marigold flower it balances the skin and reduces irritation.
Camomile: Alpha Bisabolol, Azulene: Camomile is one of the oldest household remedies in existence. It has
provided relief for all digestive complaints but also for inflammations of the mucous membranes and in the
99
treatment of skin disorders. The main active ingredients of the camomile responsible for the soothing and
relieving effect are: essential oils with alpha bisabolol and azulene. For this reason, the two substances were
included in the product in addition to the overall camomile extract.
Carrot Oil: contains carotene, which has an orange color that fades when exposed to sunlight. The body
converts it to Vitamin A and is used for cellular renewal and healing.
Chinese Green Tea: Scientific research has shown how the positive effects of green tea are a result of the activity
of polyphenols, also called 'tannins', in the tea. Polyphenols have a strong anti-oxidative effect. They neutralize
certain aggressive free radicals, occurring particularly due to UV rays, but which are also caused by other
influences in the environment, e.g. by chemical reactions. UV light is considered to be one of the main causes of
sunburn and other skin damage. Polyphenols have repeatedly been proved to provide protection against skin
damage due to the sun and other causes. In addition, green tea has been shown to provide protection from
bacteria and even viruses on the skin.
Deadnettle: The components in the deadnettle (Lamium album) are mucilage, triterpensaponin, and flavonoids.
Deadnettle is known in herbal medicine as remedies for skin diseases.
Echinacea: is a derivative of the coneflower root. It promotes healing of wounds, strengthens the body's immune
system and is an anti-microbial. The coneflower originated in North America and was an ancient medicinal herb
used by the Indians. It was often employed for the healing of wounds. Today it is valued preeminently for its
capacity for mobilizing the body's defenses against disease. Echinacea can also be used to treat external bacterial
infections.
Essential Fatty Acids: Often referred to as vitamin F, essential fatty acids consist principally of unsaturated linoleic,
linoleic and arachidonic acid. They form the basic building blocks of body fats, biological membranes and
protaglandins. Essential fatty acids are thought to be incorporated into the structural phospholipids of the
epidermis, normalizing the cell lipid layers and possibly the cellular cementing substances. When used topically
essential fatty acids may be metabolized in the skin, improving the “normal barrier functions of the skin.
Ingredients rich in EFA’s other than linoleic acid are borage, evening primrose and black currant oils.
Ethyl alcohol: a nondrying alcohol, also referred to as spirit of wine, brandy or spirit, is an easily movable,
aromatic scented and inflammable fluid. It is very hygroscopic (water attracting) as a result, of which it can only
be produced to a content of 96% through normal distillation. Ethanol is a good solvent for numerous materials.
Furthermore it is a strong disinfectant in aqueous solutions, has a protein reducing and water attracting effect.
Upwards of a concentration of 30% it irritates the skin and is poisonous. In cosmetics it is a very important basic
material, which is hardly replaceable as a result of its refreshing and toning effect. The same applies for its use in
the manufacture of perfumes (scent carrier).
Extract of birch-leaf: The main ingredients in birch-leaf extract are flavonoids, saponins, essential oils, tannins,
bitter plant substances and vitamin C. The extract has been long known for its blood-cleansing and antiseptic
properties. It is frequently used on the skin against rashes and to heal wounds.
Extract of Meristem: Meristem is the tissue of a green plant where cell division and growth occurs. For cosmetic
purposes, normally a watery extract is produced from oak bark. It is soothing, reduces swelling and tightens the
skin.

Fruit Acids: Pineapple, grapefruit and passion fruit and lime are among the most aggressive fruit acids. Fruit Acids
have caused a sensation recently as anti-wrinkle active ingredients. They loosen the intercellular 'glue', allowing
new cells to come through more rapidly and stimulate the formation of collagen and elastin. The visible effect is a
skin that looks fresher and younger.
Fucogel: A polysaccharide (multiple sugar), which is built up from three monosaccharides (simple sugar), fucose,
galactose and galactonic acid.
Gamma Pyrone Derivative: Gamma Pyrone is a derivative of pine needles. It reduces melanin production and
impedes the activity of an enzyme, which is important for the production of melanin and therefore has a
preventative effect.
Ginkgo: The ginkgo tree is originated in China, where it was prized as a remedy for coughing. Since 1730 it has
been planted in Europe frequently in Parks. Ginkgo leaves contain flavonoids and ginkgoloids, which stimulate
circulation.
Glycerin: A clear, transparent, non-odorous, sweet syrupy liquid, very hygroscopic (binds moisture). It is a
trihydric alcohol and part of any plant or animal fat. It is used as a moisture-retaining medium in skin care and
make-up products.
Glycolic Acid: is from sugar cane it has the smallest molecule of all the Alpha Hydroxy Acids, which gives it the
best permeability of all the AHA's. It is also used as a vehicle for ingredients with larger molecules for better
penetration. Fruit Acids have caused a sensation recently as anti-wrinkle active ingredients. They loosen the
intercellular 'glue', allowing new cells to come through more rapidly and stimulate the formation of collagen and
elastin. The visible effect is a skin that looks fresher and younger.
Gracilaria Algae: A red algae, the base agar (a gel former). Algae, retains and adds moisture and contains
polysaccharides. It helps to refine the contour and tone of the skin.
than vegetable), mineral elements, magnesium ( 10 times more than vegetable), trace elements and amino acids.
It is an animate fibroblast, which is responsible for collagen production. Laminaria Algae has a stimulating effect
on the use of oxygen in the cells. It strengthens veins and helps in case of collection of liquid in the tissue.
Hyaluronic acid: is one of the most expensive raw materials in cosmetics. It is extracted from natural substances
by means of a biological process. Hyaluronic acid is a valuable active ingredient in cosmetics, which regulates the
moisture balance of the skin. It is marked by an extremely high capacity to retain moisture. This is higher than
for any other substance known, and remains unchallenged even in low humidity. This is particularly important
since the skin tends to dry out in an atmosphere of low humidity. Hyaluronic acid forms a highly moisture-
retaining film on the skin, which is permeable to light and air. It is invisible, is not sticky and in no way obstructs
the ability of the skin to breathe. It makes the skin more smooth and supple. Hyaluronic acid is not completely
removed by simply washing. Active ingredients can be fixed by hyaluronic acid from which they are then passed
on to the skin. Constant pressure on a particular part of the skin, e.g. by a crease in clothe in, often causes "dents"
to appear. The slow disappearance of such dents is due to the area of skin being refilled with hyaluronic acid.
Jojoba oil: This natural product is extracted from the nit-like seeds of the jojoba shrub and is an oil frequently
used in cosmetics as it leaves behind a velvety, pleasant feeling on the skin and is very well tolerated because
jojoba oil mimics skins natural oils making it an ideal protector for the skin.
Kaolin: Kaolin is a mud with very rich trace minerals that soothes the skin. It also aids in absorption.
Kojic Acid: is a derivative of the soybean. It prevents the forming of melanin through enzyme blocking.
101
Lactic Acid: (AKA sodium lactate)—a multipurpose ingredient used as a preservative exfoliant, and moisturizing
and to provide acidity to a formulation. In the body, lactic acid is found in the blood and muscle tissue as a
product of the metabolism of glucose and glycogen. It is also a component of the skin’s natural moisturizing
factor. Lactic acid is an alpha hydroxyacid occurring in sour milk and other lesser-known sources such a beer,
pickles and other foods made through a process of bacterial fermentation. Lactic acid has better water intake than
glycerin. Studies indicates an ability to increase the water-holding capacity of the corneum layer. They also know
that the pliability of the corneum layer is closely related to the absorption of lactic acid (i.e., the greater the
amount of absorbed lactic acid, the more pliable the corneum layer).
Investigations report that continuous use of preparations formulated with lactic acid in concentrations ranging
between 5 to 12% provide a mild to moderate improvement in fine wrinkling and softer, smoother skin. Lactic
acid is caustic when applied to the skin in highly concentrated solutions.
Laminaria Algae: a brown algae, contains vitamins vitamin A, E, C and B iodine (500 times more than vegetable),
mineral elements, magnesium ( 10 times more than vegetable), trace elements and amino acids. It is an animate
fibroblast, which is responsible for collagen production. Laminaria Algae has a stimulating effect on the use of
oxygen in the cells. It strengthens veins and helps in case of collection of liquid in the tissue.
Lecithin: is a yellowish-brown, sticky substance with self- emulsifying qualities. Lecithin consists of a multitude of
materials (e.g. ester of the glycerin, alcohol etc.). Raw material sources for lecithin are soybeans, maize, rape and
similar. As a result of chemical processing, lecithin is obtained from this. In cosmetics it is used as an auxiliary
emulsifier in skin creams and various other products. Lecithin is also the basic material for the production of
liposomes.
Lemon extract: is mildly astringent and bleaching due to its content of citric acid.
Liquorice extract: has an antiphlogistic effect mainly due to the content of glycyrrhetinic acid, which soothes
irritation, reduces inflammation and has a bacteriostatic effect. Liquorice neutralizes pollution and ground level
ozone that attack hyaluronic acid, proteins and vitamins.
Marigold Oil: is a derivative of the marigold flower. The essential oil has an antibiotic effect and is as a result
ideally suited to the external treatment of wounds. It regenerates the skin and restores epithelium.
Milk Protein: nourishes the skin and aids with moisture and protection.
Mimosa bark extract: "Mimosa tenuiflora”, known for centuries by the Maya Indians as "Tepescohuite" or "skin
tree", is used in natural healing to treat the skin. Mimosa Bark extract is water-soluble extract. It is composed of
diverse bioflavonoids, which form the major active substances. Further substances, e.g. tannins, contribute to the
effectiveness of the mimosa bark extract in skin care. Mimosa increases or more quickly forms new cells, has an
antimicrobiotic effect which help to keep down bacteria growth on the skin and causes the neutralization of free
radicals.
Mucopolysaccharides: are basic components of the skin. They support the connective tissue. As a cosmetic
ingredient, it is a humidifier and skin softener.
NMF: stands for 'natural moisturizing factors'. A normal, young skin contains a certain number of these
moisturizing factors in its epidermis. As examples: amino acids, pyrrolidone-carbonic acid, urea, various sugar
molecules and salts. All these water-binding substances contribute to retaining part of the water in the epidermis,
which would otherwise be lost inconstant, normal perspiration. However, the lipid film on the skin also protects
it from excess loss of moisture. Only an epidermis with approx. 10% water content is healthy and elastic. A
deficiency in moisture leads to a loss of elasticity which, when under stress from inside or outside, can easily lead
to the formation of cracks allowing foreign substances or pathogens to penetrate. As the skin becomes more
102
mature, the ability to store water weakens. Other influences too, like the weather, dry air from central heating
and strongly de-oiling cleansing agents contribute to dryness. Improved moisturizing of the epidermis can be
achieved by adding moisture-retaining factors. Depending on the kind of substances, they can improve the
moisture content of the skin for a certain period. This can amount to up to 12 hours.
Niacinmethylester: Increases circulation improving oxygen intake, and firms the skin.
Pansy: The green of the pansy (Viola Tricolor) contains the active ingredients saponins (foam forming, soapy
plant constituents), salicylic acid, flavonoids, carotinoids tannin, and mucilage. Pansy, which grows in Central
Europe, Northern Asia and North America are used for manufacturing. Pansy is known in herbal medicine as
remedies for skin diseases. Paracelsus emphasized the healing value of pansy extract. Known in popular medicine
as a blood-cleansing agent. In cosmetics components are added to the extract, which can be used both on acne as
well as on impure and sensitive skin. With fissured wounds, the extract has a positive effect on the skin and
shortens the healing process.
Panthenol: An extremely important member of the B vitamins used in the organism. It occurs in yeast, cereals
and some green plants. Panthenol reduces inflammation, soothes irritation and counteracts bacteria, initiates
rebuilding of the skin and is an excellent hydrator.
Phyto-Collastin: The word Collastin is derived from the base words of the main active ingredients - Collagen and
Elastin. Collagen and Elastin are natural proteins derived from wheat, algae and carob, which are mixed at a
specific ratio to deliver an ingredient that will hydrate the skin and strengthen the elasticity.
Phytosphingosines: Basic molecules, which occur in free form in young skin and also as a constituent part of the
Phytostimulin: A biological complex of ingredients extracted form wheat germ, which consists of enzymes,
vitamins and phyto-hormones, as well as wheat germ oil with its high content of vitamin E and essential fatty
acids.
Phytovityl: A pure plant based liposomed stimulant to promote cell breathing, which prompts an increase in the
activity of cell metabolism (oxygenating): A criterion for younger skin. Biosynthesis of ceramides and keratin
boosted during this process, and has particular significance in making the skin youthful.
Plant ceramides: The structure of plant ceramides, correspond to the natural skin lipids and consequently are well
accepted by the skin. Dry and aging skin, are directly related to the falling content of ceramides. Natural
ceramides are present in intercellular spaces where they regulate the moisture balance in the skin and ensure the
skin's own natural barrier. Both functions can be effectively promoted by cosmetically applying ceramides.
Pure natural plant derived oils: Sesame Oil: is a light yellow oil from the seeds of the sesame plant. It contains
simple and multiply saturated fatty acids. Sesame oil is very similar to the skin fat, spreads well and distinguishes
itself through very good skin tolerance.
Ribonucleic complex: This complex of plant-based active ingredients contains salts of ribonucleic acid, i.e.
components of the cell nucleus. The ribonucleic acid takes part in building up proteins (protein synthesis). The
addition of ribonucleic complex leads to better moisturizing and smoothening of the upper cell layers and to
improved elasticity of the skin.
103
“Rooibos”: The name comes from the Afrikaans language and means "red bush" it is a very good catcher of free
radicals, reduces inflammation, calms the skin, and protects against allergens. “Red Bush” is the strongest form of
Vitamin C. It also attributes to tone and vitality of the skin.
Rosemary: Alcoholic and aqueous extract from blossoms and leaves of the Rosemary bush. It refreshes, stimulates
blood circulation and disinfects.
Rosemary Oil: Rosemary has been known as a herb with healing properties for many centuries. It contains
essential oils with cineole, camphor and bornel as well as alkaloids, saponin and organic acids. It promotes
circulation and stimulates: it accelerates the healing process of the skin disorders or wounds.
Salicylic acid: also known as Beta Hydroxy Acid works to shed keratinized skin on the surface and dissolve
clogged pore. Unlike glycolic acids or AHA's, Salicylic Acid or BHA's also kills unwanted bacteria released when
the dry skin is shed. Salicylic Acid is a white, crystalline powder, which dissolves with difficulty in water and with
ease in alcohol. The acid has an antiseptic and preserving effect. In higher concentrations it may soften up and
remove the corneal skin. Salicylic acid extract is used in mouth and tooth care products, in hair waters for treating
dandruff, as well as parasitic skin diseases, in anti-perspirants and in products for the treatment of psoriasis and
seborrhoeal skin conditions.
Sea Salt: Contains important minerals for the skin as sodium, magnesium, potassium, and trace elements, which
are responsible for the moisture balance of the skin.
Sesame Extract: Sesame Extract protects from free radicals and has a regenerating effect.
Shea butter (Butyrospermum Parkii): A valuable natural raw material from the fruit of the shea butter tree. Shea
butter protects the skin against dryness and the effects of heat and sun. Shea butter lends the skin smoothness.
Starch: This is a special form of starch: derived starch. It is a plant product, processed to prevent lumps forming
in it. It has a matte effect and replaces talcum powder in our product.
Sunscreen: The light protection filter contributes to preventing premature signs of aging caused by light. In this
product, the sunscreen is embedded in tiny silica beads to prevent direct contact with the skin. This improves the
compatibility of the product when used on particularly sensitive skin.
Taisoh extract: contains an antiallergenic, active substance that increases the forming of antibodies; extracted
from the Asian medicinal plant taisoh (Chinese jujube of the buckthorn family).
Tyrosine: Tyrosine is a natural amino acid, which stimulates the formation of pigment within the skin for a richer
tan.
UVA / UVB: The rays of the sun become more intense daily, even on overcast days. Too much of UVB rays can
contribute to the risk of skin cancer and too much exposure to UVA is mainly responsible for premature aging of
the skin. This makes a broad-spectrum sunscreen sensible in daily care.
Vitamin A Retinol: Vitamin A or retinol is referred to as a factor in the protection of the epithelium. It
regenerates the cells moving them more rapidly from one stage to the next. Retinol has a positive effect on the
production of collagen thus promoting skin elasticity. In order to be active vitamin A has to be liposomed or
stabilized by Vitamin E this aids in better penetrate of the vitamin and it becomes active exactly where it is
104
needed. If Vitamin A is in the skin at the time of sun exposure the enzymes that destroy collagen and elastin are
inhibited.
Vitamin C: Vitamin C is a water-soluble extract derived from lemon peel. It protects the inner parts of the cell
and the genetic information. It also protects the skin from free radicals and attributes to tone and vitality of the
skin.
Vitamin Complex: Vitamin A, E and C:
Vitamin A Retinol: Vitamin A or retinol is referred to as a factor in the protection of the epithelium. It
regenerates the cells moving them more rapidly from one stage to the next. Retinol has a positive effect on the
production of collagen thus promoting skin elasticity. In order to be active vitamin A has to be liposomed or
stabilized by Vitamin E this aids in better penetrate of the vitamin and it becomes active exactly where it is
needed. If Vitamin A is in the skin at the time of sun exposure the enzymes that destroy collagen and elastin are
inhibited.
Vitamin E: Vitamin E, or tocopherol, with its anti-oxidizing effect neutralizes free radicals and thus prevents
premature signs of aging. Vitamin E improves the exploitation of oxygen in the tissue and increases the capacity
of the skin to retain moisture. Barrier functions are enhanced and dehydration is prevented through the use of
Vitamin E. Vitamin E is also a natural sunscreen.
Vitamin E nicotinate: This substance derived form vitamin E ensures gentle promotion of circulation without
producing any heat.
Watercress: Increases circulation, which in turn speeds up the metabolism of the cell through oxygenation.
Wheat Germ Oil: Wheat Germ Oil are an anti-oxidant. They improve oxygen intake thereby regenerating the
cells, which in turn tighten the connective tissue. It is also a natural preservative.
Willow Bark: The components in willow bark are flavonoids, phenolglycosides, tannins and salicylic acid
derivative
(Forerunner to acetylsalicylic acid) which soothes.
Yeast cultures: help to rebuild the skin. Fibroblast cells are stimulated which produce Tropocolagen - the
preliminary stage of collagen growth.
Ylang Ylang: Extracted from the Ylang Ylang tree, which grows in the Far East and in the tropics. This is a natural
antiseptic and also used in aromatherapy as a sedative, antidepressant and aphrodisiac. In cosmetics it is
frequently used for fragrance.
Zinc Oxide: Widely used in powders and creams to help cosmetics adhere to the skin, a natural, physical sun
block.
