DIETARY ANALYSIS PROJECT

(DIETARY LOG) INSTRUCTIONS

The Dietary Log and


Data Collection

The dietary analysis project will


enable you to analyze your diet for
total calories, percent, and amount
of the major food groups:
carbohydrates, fats, proteins;
vitamins, and minerals. The project
consists of a dietary log and 4
assessments: carbohydrates, fats,
proteins, and vitamins and
minerals.
Use the forms below to record all
food and beverages (not water)
consumed each day for 7 days,
including the types and quantity of
the foods and beverages
consumed.
Complete the forms below for each
day of the week.

Table of Food Composition


The Table of Food Composition is found
in Appendix H of your textbook. Learn
how to use this table by first reading the
Using the Table paragraph found on
pages H1 and H2. Use the table to
determine the values of the items listed
above. Calculate totals of each item for
each day of the week.

Data Collection
Your record of your dietary intake should
be typical for you. Eliminate special days
such as parties, weddings, holidays, etc.
This dietary analysis will provide you with
important information about your own diet
and therefore the more accurate you are
in the accumulation of data, the more
valuable it will be for you.
