Unit Plan: Graphing Linear Equations and Functions

1. Unit Description: Students will be able to use what they learn about linear equations and their graphs to model real-life situations. Students will graph linear equations using a variety of techniques, including making a table, plotting two points, and a point and the slope of a line. They will be able to identify equations of vertical, horizontal, and parallel lines. They will identify and evaluate functions. They will use graphs of linear functions to model and solve real-life problems. 2. Assessment: See attached document. 3. Concept Map: See attached document. 4. Unit Objectives: a. Students will be able to graph an equation using two different methods; the slope and point and slope-intercept form. b. Students will develop functions and evaluate them for given values. c. Students will be able to use slope and solve problems using rate of change. 5. Schedule of Lessons: Lesson Topic Lesson Learning Description of how Tasks and/or Objectives lesson contributes to activities for the unit-level objectives lesson Students will be able Students learn how to Students will check to Graphing Linear to graph a linear graph so they are able see whether Equations equation using a table to solve linear coordinate points are or a list of values. equations using solutions to equations. graphs.
