Insert the vessel dilator over the guidewire, tapered end first.
Firmly attach the one-way valve to the male luer fitting of the IAB catheter.
Advance the IAB catheter over the guidewire into the artery until correct placement is achieved.
Advance the sheath seal as close to the insertion site as possible and secure the IAB catheter to the patients leg.
Insert the introducer dilator into the sheath hub and secure.
Advance the sheath over the guidewire into the artery using a rotary motion. Withdraw the introducer dilator leaving the sheath in place.
Advance the IAB catheter through the sheath into the artery until correct placement achieved. Push the sheath seal into the hub of the sheath and secure the IAB catheter to the patients leg.
Connection to IABP
Remove the guidewire and aspirate 3cc of blood from the inner lumen.

Perform a manual flush of the inner lumen with 3-5cc of flush solution.

Remove the one-way valve and gas lumen insert from the IAB catheter.

Connect the IAB catheters male luer fitting to the female luer fitting of the catheter extender.

Connect the male luer fitting of the catheter extender to the safety disk of the Intra-aortic Balloon Pump.
